URGENT: libdvdcss install hosed /var
I am running CentOS 5/2 (latest updates) with the GNOME DE on a 32-bit machine (at work). I have k3b installed, and I was trying to copy a DVD earlier this morning, but k3b said it couldn't read encrypted DVDs. So, I installed libdvdcss from rpmforge and restarted k3b. It hung the system. I rebooted, and / had been damaged. After running e2fsck from the repair prompt, I rebooted and a

URGENT: libdvdcss install hosed /var [SOLVED]
I found it - there has to be a /var/lib/nfs directory with a few subdirectories under it. Once I had created them all, I could run rpc.statd, and that unfroze everything. Thanks to all, esp. Bill for mentioning rpc - that was the clue for me. mhr

K3b, cdrdao and chmod +s
Hi, I just managed to get a fairly coherent configuration for our public "salle multimedia" with CentOS 4.3. I used the rpmforge and the KBS repos for additional software. There's only one soft that I had to rebuild: K3B. The included version's translation is just one big mess. I remember from my Slack days not so long ago that K3B is rather easy to build, so I downloaded the

RPMforge metadata problems
Hi, Yesterday evening I added a TIMESTAMP to the root of my tree in order to follow up on the correctness of mirrors. And after 12 hours more than 50% of the mirrors do not have that TIMESTAMP file. It is possible that it is filtered out, so the test is not at all valid. I am going to reduce the number of mirrors and only add the ones that have a recent TIMESTAMP. However since information on

installing perl module in centos/rpmforge vs. cpan methods
Hi, I just used RPMforge package perl-Mail-Sender, and am looking at the perl cpan site for info, anyone got a simple way to determine if the module is working properly? I am trying to use the cpan info, but it's a bit cryptic (as perl is wont to be). -it says to use this: #!/usr/local/bin/perl use ExtUtils::Installed; my $instmod = ExtUtils::Installed->new(); foreach my $module

Clarification Needed: DAG vs. rpmforge.
Dag in the thread about kvirc, I had pointed to dries repo, based on a list of repos I use *now*, that replaced your repo with rpmforge. This based on an instruction earlier that I should use rpmforge instead. So when I run my "yum --enablerepo=\* list...", it did not show your repo contents. Should I be including *both* rpmforge and dag? TIA Bill -------------- next part

OT rpmforge rpm is not putting Dag repo info in yum.conf
I should change this to OT, as it's not really CentOS related. I had a post on the list last week asking how the rpmforge rpm was to be implemented in yum. Craig White was kind enough to list how his yum.conf is appended, I assume after he installed the rpm. Unfortunately, mine is not appended with these lines. I am running CentOS 3. I will add these lines manually, and probably remove

k3b -> cddb doesn't work
Copying a CD with k3b is no problem, except I want to include on my copy the cbbd data (from freedb.org). I've configured k3b's cddb section according to instructions at <http://www.freedb.org/en/faq.3.html#15> and read every article google could find about "k3b cddb freedb.org config", but still k3b can't manage it. Grip handles getting the cddb data just fine.

k3b doesn't burn video disk
I create DVDs from camcorder output. In the past I've always just dragged the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders into k3b and the disk has burned successfully. On this new box I tried to do the same, but k3b says that it 'Found invalid entry in the VIDEO_TS folder (AUDIO_TS). That seems to be utter nonsense, if it means that AUDIO_TS is inside the folder VIDEO_TS. If it doesn't,

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and CentOS 5 extras packages
Hi, In the advent of RHEL5 and CentOS 5, I've been rebuilding the RPMforge packages for EL5. You can find these at the usual location[*]. A few points though: + Not all RPMforge packages are available at this time + If you find a package that you need and isn't there, please do look at the buildlogs and send me instructions on how to fix this specific build. errors on multimedia guidance for x86_64
I have a fresh install of 5.4 x86_64 from a dvd .iso. All has worked well for several days, including kvm and WinXP running in a vm. Decided it was time to get the multimedia stuff up and running so I could listen to music CDs and watch DVD movies while working. I followed the guidance on the "Tips and Tricks" page for multimedia. Had no problem with the "priorities" or the

Automated RPMForge Repository Installation Script for Tips & Tricks section
Hello. With the help of the community I finished polishing the translation of my PHP script to Bash version http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?viewmode=flat&topic_id=20222&forum=38 It has now autodetection of architecture and CentOS version and handles errors. I have published an article under my homepage here: http://wiki.centos.org/VladislavRastrusny/AutoRPMForgeRepo

k3b 1.0.3, qt and C5 64-bit?
I have C5 64-bit running on my laptop and am trying to get k3b 1.0.3 compiled from source. It keeps complaining about qt not being installed or available. I performed a yum install of everything qt, but it still complains. I've read some postings on various web pages about creating symlinks, but although tried, that still didn't fix any problems. What am I missing? Thhanks. Scott
