selinux problem with squid and snmp_port in centos 5
Hi all,
Just want to enable squid's SNMP support to get information about
its perfomance through snmp client. I set "snmp_port 3401" in squid.conf
SELinux is in enforcing state with targeted policy.
But squid daemon doesn't start. There are some messages in audit.log
like
type=SYSCALL msg=audit(1176946812.492:244): arch=40000003 syscall=102
success=no exit=-13 a0=2 a1=bf880060

nfs slow?
Hi all, I'm migrating from Gentoo to CentOS... I'm experiencing a
rather low performance in NFS r/w (as client).
NFS server is solaris (which exports zfs volumes via nfs). The very
same exports were mounted with the same parameters (auto, nosuid, exec)
on gentoo and centos server (bot x86_64)... It happens that centos is
5-10 times slower either in read and write operations... Ok,

linuxthreads & Printers in Centos5...
Dear All,
Firstly, many thanks for the hard work put in by the development team :)
Now I have a couple of problems, any help welcome:
1) Some of our software needs linuxthreads (i.e. InsightII) but it's closed
source and the writers (Accelrys) are unlikely to respin the code as they
want us to move to a different program.
Is there any way of installing another set of glibc libs on centos

Cannot start SSH at boot
On a particular CentOS 6 install, I must start SSH manually:
# /etc/init.d/sshd start
I have tried to configure it to start automatically:
# chkconfig --level 3 sshd on
However, it still must be manually started. I am not getting any
errors. What might be preventing it from starting?
Thanks.

Any chance to get a working, current openldap srpm/rpm for centos 5.5
Hello,
is there anyone out there, who has a current 2.4.23 srpm or good how to
compile it from src with supported db4?
I tried to compile recent source files, but always finding the current
(installed) db4 >4.3 fails.
Than I tried to compile the LTB Project Files:
http://ltb-project.org/wiki/documentation/openldap-rpm
May be it is just a small step or option to be set.
Would be nice to get

LVM lvresize/lvextend requires some space in /etc to grow a logical volume?
Side note:
In CentOS-6, I noticed a new option in lvresize / lvextend:
-r, --resizefs
Resize underlying filesystem together with the logical
volume using
fsadm(8).
Nice. Two steps (lvresize and resize2fs) can now be combined into one!
Works great.
But that has nothing to do with my question, just thought I'd share
the discovery.

NFS4 issue
We are running kernel 2.6.18-164.6.1.el5 with exporting 3 aoe provided
ext4 directories. For a couple of weeks we had a small number of users
using the system with no issues, today we added 7 users and the system
crashed and did not perform correctly since.

Release - NUT-Html v 1.1
All,
I've decided to publish something I threw together.
I recently installed NUT and found it to be a hassle to switch between
the CGIs for web access. I created some HTML to provide an easy way
to go between the CGIs easily and quickly. It uses the exact same
color scheme that the default CGIs use.
I would very much appreciate any input. I am open to having this
included with the main

NUT upsstats.cgi problem
I seem to have NUT all working with my R3000XR, except for the CGIs.
The webserver's all properly configured and upsstats.cgi *runs*, but
doesn't yield any useful output - no values are displayed, every value
is replaced by [error: Invalid argument]. Apache is not logging any
resulting errors, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of useful
documentation on the CGIs to troubleshoot

Conga / luci question
After playing with conga/luci i'm wondering that it's not possible to reset and/or remove the
generated cluster configuration. Somebody knows how to achieve this? I did not find any hint in the
RH manuals.

webmaster help needed - call for volunteers
Dear Community,
Xiph.org has a serious need for some webmasterly help, and currently
no one actively involved has the time to fill such a role. We are
hereby asking if there are any volunteers in the community who would
like to help out in this capacity, possibly as part of a webmaster
team (depending on response). This job pays in karma only,
unfortunately.

Random Forest - Strata
Hi all,
Had struggled in getting "Strata" in randomForest to work on this.
Can I get randomForest for each of its TREE, to get ALL sample from some
strata to build tree, while leaving some strata TOTALLY untouched as oob?
e.g. in below, how I can tell RF to,
- for tree 1 in the forest, to use only Site A and B to build the tree,
while using the WHOLE Site C data for the oob error

Proposal: MAC_BIBA and real-world usage
Hello,
Are there many people actually using the MAC subsystem in the real
world? I have been working to set up a shared hosting webserver and
I've stumbled against some limitations with the BIBA policy.
In short, it's an excellent model, and can be used succesfully if
applications are aware of its existance, but I find it incompatible
with the real-world needs in Unix, and,
