Xen 4.0 - No console prompt after booting domU but functional SSH
Hello xen-users !
I am coming for help concerning the just released 4.0 version. Install has
worked rather well on my Debian Lenny. I have just had a few bugs for which
I have found the answer looking around on this list.
I have created a Debian Lenny domU which boots up just fine. The only
problem is that I am unable to get a console prompt when using "xm console
nameofdomU". I do see

working config for xen which would transfer a serial interface
Hello
Can anyone share a known working config for xen which would
transfer a serial interface ( add-on card preferably, mine uses
e880-e887 : 0000:03:05.0 / ec00-ec07 : 0000:03:05.0 ) to a DomU ?
I've been trying with the stock packages from Centos 5.5 ( fully
updated) and also with gitco's 3.4.3 but after 2 days of googling and
testing we still fail to access the serial

Problems with booting Debian DomU
I''m running Xen 3.2 on Debian 5.0 (Lenny) and am having trouble booting up a Debian Etch DomU. It hangs at the end when it says "Starting periodic command scheduler: cron."
It''s just completely frozen. At one point I set it sit for a few hours and got back into the console and it said something about "time went backwards" but I used the

/dev/tty*: not a character device after reboot
Hello All
I just recently adopted a server with Gentoo/Xen as domain0 server with several domainUs attached to it. Please forgive my xen-noobness, but I was hoping that someone can help me out.
These images have not been updated in a long time, and I''m trying to get all the domainUs updated with their appropriate services patches, etc. I''m currently working on one Gentoo

xen 3.3.0 etch sources console hangs
I installed xen 3.3.0 on a etch box from sources. I just modified the
standard kernel cause of some hardware drivers. I installed xen-tools
from backports (3.9-3~bpo40+1). To create a domU ist not the problem. I
can connect via ssh and everything works fine. But when i start a domU
with "xm create host.example.tld.cfg -c" to login to console from domU
it hangs after the message

Unable to xm console in a running domU
Hi list,
I am running a virtualized server. Dom0 uses Xen 3.2.1 with Debian
Etch and a custom kernel 2.6.21 created by my webhosting company.
I install my domU using debootstrap for a Debian Etch with
2.6.18-6-xen-amd64 kernel. Everything works well except the fact that
once the VM is started I cannot "xm console" into it. It only works
while it is booting and while it is shutting

hi
why are tty3-tty6 started after this config change?
i would like to have only tty1 finally becasue on a virtual machine
there is no need for the other processes since CTRL+ALT+Fx is caught
by the own system and remote console mostly not needed at all

How to build Xen with on-src-b79
I am trying to build Xen from on-src-b79. According to opensolaris website, all xVM sources should be in the on-src-b79 tree, and no additional sources are required. I followed the procedure for doing the nightly build, and I expected that, as a result I will build, along with the Solaris kernel, the xen.gz image. I was hoping to copy that xen.gz image to my test machine, so I can boot with my own

Weird Network issue
Hi all:
I am pretty new to xen, but ,thanks to you, I am learning fast :)
I have a Dell Poweredge 2950 server running Debian Lenny as Dom0 named Asgard
I have configured three DomU (Loki, Hermod and Thor) with DHCP support.
All the machines (Dom0 and DomU''s) ask for an IP address to a DHCP server in the
Office LAN.
The DHCP server is configured to bind certain IP addresses to the Dom0

New DomU on older Dom0
Hi,
I have a Xen server running OpenSuSE 10.2, with Xen version 3.0.3_11774.
It''s happily hosting two DomU''s running the same OS / kernel.
Now I tried to create a new DomU running a newer OS - OpenSuSE 11.1. It
comes with Xen version 3.3.1_18494_03.
Unfortunately for me, it doesn''t work - this is what I get:

Cleaning Up My Process Table
I'm upgrading my primary server from RH 7.2 to CentOS-4.3.ServerCD. I
REALLY like the ServerCD. Who needs all the fluff that comes with a
standard distro? If I want a system-config-gooey I can run Xnest [1]
and ssh -X from my laptop. Anyway I have two questions:
1) How can I collectively stop all the NFS, portmap, whatever? I'm hoping
it can be manipulated as a group because occationally

Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
Hello everyone,
I''m quite a newbie with Xen and I''m currently having an issue.
I run Xen 4 on Debian Squeeze x64 and I''m trying to build an OpenFiler DomU from the Xen domU filesystem tarbal they provide (See http://www.openfiler.com/community/download/).
I downloaded the tarball and run ''tar xzpvf /root/soft/openfiler-2.3-x86_64.tar.gz'' to extract
