Multipath-root (mpath) problems with CentOS 5
Hi list! I have a server with dual port Qlogic iSCSI HBA. I set up the same LUN for both ports, and boot the CentOS installer with "linux mpath". Installer detects multipathing fine, and creates mpath0 device for root disk. Installation goes fine, and the system boots up and works fine after the install from the multipath root device. After install the setup is like this: LUN 0 on

Device-mapper-multipath not working correctly with GNBD devices
Hi all, I am trying to configure a failover multipath between 2 GNBD devices. I have a 4 nodes Redhat Cluster Suite (RCS) cluster. 3 of them are used for running services, 1 of them for central storage. In the future I am going to introduce another machine for central storage. The 2 storage machine are going to share/export the same disk. The idea is not to have a single point of failure

unexpected 'reinitialize disk?' prompt form anaconda during kickstart with zerombr
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Anyone have any thoughts on why anaconda might be prompting me to reinitialize the disk during the kickstart of a Centos6.4 install on hyperV when a) the kickstart file contains "zerombr" as referred to in the installation guide[1] b) installation proceeds with no prompt on KVM hypervisors and succeeds? I have read the release notes[2]/tech

Questions on making a kickstart cfg
So I took the anaconda cfg, commented out the partition/disk pieces and ran it off my repo server and it almost worked. Little things like not including things I had done on network setup. No first boot.... :) So now I am reading up on building a kickstart cfg http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/KickStart http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/5.2/Installation_Guide/s1-kickstart2-howuse.html

Multipathing with Sun 7310
Dear list, we have a relatively new Sun Storage 7310, where we connect CentOS 5.5 Servers (IBM LS21/LS41 Blades) via Brocade Switches, 4GBit FC. The Blades boot from SAN via qla2xxx, and have no harddisks at all. We want them to use multipathing from the very beginning, so /boot and / are already seen by multipathd. Problem is, that the Sun 7310 has two storage heads which run in

Mount fails with error status -22?
Hi, I am little puzzled. I looked through the mailing list archive and some other sources but doesn't seem like anything anyone encountered. I have two systems with attached HP SAN. I'm using SLES 10.1 with multipath-tools. When trying to mount OCFS2 device I get this: SERVER:/ # mount.ocfs2 /dev/mapper/mpath0 /mnt/temp/ mount.ocfs2: Invalid argument while mounting

kickstart from cd
Howdy, Was wondering if anyone on the list has successfully created a kickstart cd. I get the thing burnt, looks good, I can browse all the files, but when I actually boot from it I can't get it to admit the ks.cfg exists. I *have* been successful with kickstart over http; just can't seem to make it happen from the cd. Pointers appreciated, I've been mostly looking at the

Libvirt with multipath devices and/or FC on NPIV
Hello, I am trying to find out a best practice for a specific scenario. First of all I would like to know what is the proper way to set up multipath, who should care about it the host or the guest. Right now I have a setup where I have one multipath which sets my host to boot from FC SAN. I have another multipathed LUN in the host which is essentially a dm which I attached to a guest, however

Multipath w/ iscsi
I have several CentOS 6 boxes that mount iscsi based luns and use mpath. They all had problems shutting down as a result of unused maps not getting flushed as the system halted. After examining the init scripts, netfs, iscsi and multipathd all had the correct order but mpath failed to flush these maps and the system waited indefinitely. In the meantime I hacked this by adding a `/sbin/multipath

issues when add driverdisk to centos5.6 using NFS method
Hi, I am Ken.. I am trying to add dud(driver update disk) to centos5.6 using network method, I can successfully add dud to centos5.6 using http and ftp method, but fail when using nfs method. However those all three methods are officially supported in the centos5.6. As indicated in the centos5.6 website, we can see they not only support http, ftp, but also nfs.

dm-multipath use
Are folks in the Centos community succesfully using device-mapper-multipath? I am looking to deploy it for error handling on our iSCSI setup but there seems to be little traffic about this package on the Centos forums, as far as I can tell, and there seems to be a number of small issues based on my reading the dm-multipath developer lists and related resources. -geoff Geoff Galitz Blankenheim

Adding handling for Multipath storage devices
The following patches introduce support for multipath and cciss devices to the ovirt-node and node-image. Comments are appreciated. These patches assume that the 3 patches (2 node, 1 node-image) from Joey are all incorporated. Mike

IBM Storwize V3700 storage - device names
Hello, I have IBM Storwize V3700 storage, connected to 2 IBM x3550 M4 servers via fiber channel. The servers are with QLogic ISP2532-based 8Gb Fibre Channel to PCI Express HBA cards and run Centos 5.10 When I export a volume to the servers, each of them sees the volume twice, i.e /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc, with the same size. Previously I have installed many systems with IBM DS3500 series of

SUN Storage 7310 with RHEL 5.5 / Centos 5.5 and multipathed root, again.
Dear all, After some trouble finding the right multipath.conf, I'm running Centos 5.5 against the SUN 7310 more or less successfully now. Unfortunately one issue remains: the SUN 7310 has two storage heads, H1 and H2, which are in a active/passive configuration. If I define a LUN on H1, everything works great. I edit multipath.conf, re-create the initrd and I find 8 paths with

CentOS and Dell MD3200i / MD3220i iSCSI w/ multipath
We've been wrestling with this for ... rather longer than I'd care to admit. Host / initiator systems are a number of real and virtualized CentOS 5.5 boxes. Storage arrays / targets are Dell MD3220i storage arrays. CentOS is not a Dell-supported configuration, and we've had little helpful advice from Dell. There's been some amount of FUD in that Dell don't seem to know what

device-mapper multipath
I am attempting to get multipath working with device-mapper (CentOS 4.2 and 4.3). It works on EVERY install of mine from RH (also v4.2, 4.3), but the same multipath.conf imported to all my installs of CentOS do not work. Note that I have tested a working 4.2 configuration file from RH on CentOS 4.2 and a working 4.3 configuration (it changed slightly) on CentOS 4.3. Neither worked. Our production
