Unable to POST after suspend
Hi, I just tried the live CD for CentOS 5.0 on a desktop computer and decided to see if suspend worked. It seems it did, but I'm unable to start the machine again. It's a DIY system with an Asus K8V-X motherboard[1], an AMD Clawhammer 3200+ and 1 GB of Kingston ECC RAM. The system has been perfectly stable despite being utterly abused on a daily basis for almost 3 years. I've tried:

dovecot + mysql (complements)
Hi, I've done some supplementary tests with tcpdump. Apparently, with a login containing the % character, there's no query send to MySQL. Do you know if the % character is filtered by dovecot ? Issues booting centos7 [dracut is failing to enable centos/root, centos/swap LVs]
Hello, I'm having a strange problem booting a new centos7 installation. Below some background on this. [I have attached the tech details at the bottom of this message] I started a new CentOS7 installation on a VM, so far all good, o/s boots fine. Then I decided to increase VM disk size (initially was 10G) to 13G. Powered off the VM, increased the vhd via the hypervisor, booted from CentOS

IRIX patch for vorbis *
Hi, after reading the IRIX Digital Media Audio library documentation and starting to code an IRIX output plugin for libao and afterwards realizing there was already one on the CVS tree (almost identical to what I had up to that point, no wonder) and getting the rest of the vorbis tarball to compile under IRIX with the MIPSpro compiler only to find out the plugin was wrong and after going

Could not mount SATA disk as module scsi_hostadapter is not loaded, although present in modules.conf
Hi people, I installed a via SATA controller in a CentOS release 3.8 (Final) - I needed additional disk space. After the first boot, the kudzu service, added the following line to /etc/modules.conf: alias scsi_hostadapter sata_via and I rebooted. After reboot in dmesg one can see: scsi0 : sata_via scsi1 : sata_via Vendor: ATA Model: SAMSUNG HD080HJ Rev: WT10 Type: Direct-Access

OpenSolaris+ZFS+RAIDZ+VirtualBox - ready for production systems?
Hi all, I have been looking at various alternatives for a system that runs several Linux & Windows guests. So far my favorite choice would be OpenSolaris+ZFS+RAIDZ+VirtualBox. Is this combo ready to be a host for Linux & Windows guests? Or is it not 100% stable (yet)? Greetings, Evert This message posted from opensolaris.org

PXEBoot/Diskless client NFS issue
Hey CentOS list! I've got an oddity with a diskless client setup that I suspect is the result of the initrd.img I'm using, or some parameter I'm unaware -- or I need to build my own initrd image (and could use some assistance on what has to be done in that department) Testbed is defined as: VM A: ip: 192.168.250.10 with dhcp server, tftp server, nfs server VM B: pxeboot VM,

Changing journaling mode on root / loop-aes
EXT3 developers: I am curious, if EXT3 is currently being used on the root partition in "data=ordered" mode (the default as I understand), and I want to have the it come up in data=journal mode, how do you effectuate this conversion? I would also be curious how to know if anything special is required for doing so for the /boot partition as well. I believe that with the /home partition,

Question about ggplot2 and stat_smooth
I'm interested in creating a graphic -like- this: c <- ggplot(mtcars, aes(qsec, wt)) c + geom_point() + stat_smooth(fill="blue", colour="darkblue", size=2, alpha = 0.2) but I need to show 2 sets of bands (with different shading) using 5%, 25%, 75%, 95% limits that I specify and where the heavy blue line is the median. I don't understand how to do this with

Server Setup Advice
Hello Everybody! I am currently setting up an Asterisk server for medium to high load (approximately 20-35 concurrent phone lines). Do you think the following specs will sufficiently satisfy this system? CPU: XeonQC3220 2.4GHZ 8M RAM: 2X2GB/800 Harddrive: 1X250GB I could add harddrives and partition them into /var and /log directories to help with diskdrive throughput. Thanks! Elliot

Asus L1N64 - a good candidate for a ZFS based home server?
This Asus board looks promising, assuming the parts (nForce 680a chipset) are Solaris friendly: http://www.asus.com.tw/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=136&l3=486&model=1530&modelmenu=2 The board boasts 12 (!) SATA2 ports. The FX-7x series CPUs appear to be a very cost effective ($799) 4 core solution. Ian
