2 TB limit on a samba share
I'm running a server with Centos 3 that I have set up a smbfs share to a Buffalo LinkStation. The LS has 4 drives configured with RAID 5. Each disk has 1 TB capacity, so the resulting drive is approximately 2.7 TB. When doing a df, the result shows 2 TB, and no used blocks. Is there some setting I can change so that Centos sees and uses all 2.7 TB or does Centos 3 not support this? Steve

3ware 9550SXU-4LP performance
Hi, I used xen-3.0.2-2 (2.6.16) before and the performance of my 3ware 9550SXU-4LP wasn''t too bad, but now with 3.0.3.0 (2.6.16.29) throughput decreased by about 10MB/sec in write performance. sync; ./bonnie++ -n 0 -r 512 -s 20480 -f -b -d /mnt/blabla -u someuser now (2.6.16.29): Version 1.03 ------Sequential Output------ --Sequential Input- --Random- -Per

OT: redhat training and RHES6
Greetings. I am planning on getting my RHCE in the near future. I thinking I should wait until 6 comes out before proceeding. That being said, I don't want to wait past the end of this year. That being said, do you all have any information about how long it takes for their training platform to catch up to their release? Which is to say, if RHES 6 is released on day 1, at what point

OT: backup media options
Greetings. Sorry for the OT, but I'm looking for some advice regarding archiving. I've always been a tape archive believer, but with SATA drives becoming more reliable and much larger, I'm wondering if it is time to change my opinion. What are the benefits/pitfalls to begin archiving to "enterprise" level SATA drives? Is it possible to use Amanda or Bacula to archive

smartd and 3ware 9xxx configs
I'm looking to do a bit more monitoring of my 3ware 9550 with smartd, and wanted to see what others were doing with smart for monitoring 3ware hardware. Do you have the smartd.conf configured to test, or simply monitor health status? Are you monitoring the drive as centos sees it (/dev/sdX) or are you using the 3ware /dev/twaX for monitoring? Opinions and discussions are welcome :-P --

3Ware 9550SX-4LP Performance
I know there are a few 3Ware fans here and I was hoping to find some help. I just built a new server using a 3Ware 9550SX-4LP with four disks in raid 5. The array is fully initialized but I'm not getting the write performance I was hoping for -- only 40 to 45MB/Sec. 3Ware's site advertises 300MB/Sec writes using 8 disks on the PCI Express version of this card (the 9580 I think.)

2.6.9-42.ELsmp kernel and 3ware 9550 tools
I have the latest kernel with the drivers for my 3ware 9550SX built in. Where can I find the tools and monitoring apps for this card? Are there rpms hiding somewhere, or do I need to build it from source? -- Bowie

ext3 filesystems larger than 8TB
Greetings. I am trying to create a 10TB (approx) ext3 filesystem. I am able to successfully create the partition using parted, but when I try to use mkfs.ext3, I get an error stating there is an 8TB limit for ext3 filesystems. I looked at the specs for 5 on the "upstream" vendor's website, and they indicate that there is a 16TB limit on ext3. Has anyone been able to create

SuperServer 6024H-82R and Centos 3.3
I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have any familiarity with this server? It uses the Super X6DH8-G2 motherboard. Currently, we've added an Adaptec 2120S Ultra320 RAID PCI Controller Card to get RAID 5 capability. The installation bombs and from what I can tell it looks like we're getting SCSI resets or the controller is going offline maybe. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

System hangs up every day
Hello everybody Unfortunately my problem still doesn't have any solution. But I have an interesting observation. The gateway freezes very quickly, if torrent client programs are running on workstations. I assume the cause of the problem consists in many number of TCP/IP connections that torrent client establishes. Any ideas? Maybe I can tune somehow a TCP/IP via kernel, sysctl or pf settings?

centos 5.1 install failure
Greetings. I am attempting to install 5.1 x86_64, but it is dumping out during the post-install section. I was able to send a debug to a remote system. I've never looked through an install debug log before, but everything seems to be in order until after the "tar" install, at which point I get the following error: error: db4 error(-30977) from dbcursor->c_put:

SuperMicro X7DBE with CentOS4?
I am planning to build a server based on the SuperMicro X7DBE+-O motherboard. This server will have two dual-core Xeon processors and a 3ware 9550SX raid card. Has anyone built a server based on this motherboard? Are there any issues with the smp/dual-core support in CentOS4 that might cause problems? I appreciate any input. I'm just looking to find out about any possible problems before

More info on 3Ware 9550SX from the field (in case anyone else is interested)
From a buddy of mine that has spent a little time with the new cards. This was in response to my email asking about his impressions of them: It just came out in mid-September. There are a couple reasons I'm not thrilled with it: 1) no 8-port multilane version (only 12) 2) the 8-port non-multilane version is a kludge, connector-wise (a row of 3 double-stacked connectors along the
