drbd strategy
I have an existing in-production LAMP server running Centos 5.1. It uses
physical partitions on top of hardware RAID1, having / /home /var and /boot
on separate partitions.
We have a near-identical system I am thinking of bringing in as a
DRBD/Heartbeat companion. One solution may be to use csync2
[http://oss.linbit.com/csync2/] on /etc and /usr/local (the only areas that

memorial day kernel panic
I have a simple Tyan server with RAID1 on a 3ware 7002 that has been running
updated Centos 5.1 for almost 3 weeks with no problem, it runs low-traffic
Apache/PHP/mySQL and vsftpd sites exclusively - last night it crashed. The
console showed something about a process named 'php' and gave a process id
with the panic message, but that's all I can remember. Hard-rebooted and all

cve-2010-0436 patch for CentOS 5.4
Hello,
I am using a self compiled kde-3.5.10 from ftp.kde.org as a desktop
system under CentOS 5.4. Does anybody knows where to get a
cve-2010-0436 patch (kdebase, kdm) for kde-3.5.10?
Thanks!

How to replace ntfs by ntfs-3g?
Hello,
I can write to an ntfs partion if mounting it by hand with 'mount -t
ntfs-3g /dev/sdf5 /mnt/xp'. But if I use the mount option from the kde
Storage Media panel applet (kdebase-3.5.4-13.6.el5.centos) then the
partion will be mounted without write support. So how to say kde and
CentOS to use ntfs-3g and not ntfs? Maybe by changing some links?
Thank you very much.

libsmbclient conflict problem
Hi,
I have a c-6 machine that I noticed the following on:
(bugs pts10) # package-cleanup --problems
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, priorities, refresh-packagekit
Package system-config-printer-libs-1.1.16-26.el6.x86_64 requires libsmbclient.so.0()(64bit)
Package kdebase-runtime-libs-4.3.4-9.el6.x86_64 requires libsmbclient.so.0()(64bit)
So then I ran:

Installing Samba 4 on Redhat 6.
Hi - Samba 3 had been running for years on a Redhat 6 box that I can't
upgrade. Suddenly it stopped allowing windows client to access it.
After trying many things, I then tried a "net ads leave" and then tried
a "net ads join." The join fails with this error message:

Newbie: using date-picker
Finally found a nice date chooser script
(http://projects.exactlyoneturtle.com/date_picker), but am a little
confused how to implement it.
So I put this where I need the date picker:
<a id="_name_link" href="#"
onclick="DatePicker.toggleDatePicker(''name'')"
class="demo_link">[ choose date ]</a>

rails color picker?
Hello,
Is there a color picker somewhere that is integrated with rails?
Specifically a I''m hoping for a full 24-bit picker with sliders, etc,
that can interact with rails objects, such as updating a form that
rails has setup, or just injecting it''s chosen value into an input
value that rails has set up to put back into an object after
submission.
Thanks,

getting started with jQuery rails 3.2
Hi all,
I''m trying to work out how to get started using some jQuery in my rails
app.
rails -v = 3.2.2
ruby -v = 1.9.3-p194
I''m only sporadically a web-developer, and still quite inexperienced
with jQuery especially, so I may be making an obvious mistake.
Essentially, I''ve done very little after creating a new app, I''ve learnt
that jQuery is included by

colors and palettes and things...
After trying to find if there was a color picker in the FAQs and the help,
I thought I would send a post here. I was overwhelmed with all the
wonderful color choices R has predefined (discovered after typing in
colors()) but can't figure out what they all (by name) look like. Is there
a color picker or some other method to display all those colors next to
the name?
I think I can put together

KDE Upgrade from 3.3.1 to 3.4.2
I have downloaded the required KDE files (version 3.4.2)(I know what
all files are required), and tried to simply upgrade using the rpm
-Uvh command.
But i began getting dependency problems.
Now, what I did was searched google like a mad buffalo :P to find that
missing files, and was successful to a great extent.
But the weird thing was I got a few conflicts, which I can't around with.

What changed in Directed PickUp between 1.6.1 and 1.6.2 ?
Hi,
I'm banging my head over this.
Usually, I'm using a SIP hardphone feature called "Call Pickup Starcode" to
enhance BLF with Directed Call Pickup :
basically, SIP hardphone (here a Thomson ST2030S) is configured to send an
INVITE message whenever a BLF is pressed while blinking.
The INVITE is build with the extension number (attached to the BLF that was
blinking and pressed)

Calendar date picker for use with rails.
Howdy folks,
As I was putting together a rough form for a rails app, I got to
thinking how much smoother (in my siytuation) a little calendar widget
would be than the default date picker selects.
Does anyone know if such a thing exists ?
I suspect it would have to be somewhat designed with rails in mind to
populate the right kind of post params for convenient use at the
controller end.
