sendmail and cups gets installed although not chosen in kickstart file
I setup a kickstart file that contains only @core and several packages
explicitely listed. postfix is listed, sendmail is not. And there's no
package where I would think it needs cups. Nevertheless, after the install
I now have postfix *and* sendmail on the machine and sendmail even being
enabled. And cups is installed.
How can I find out what forced them (and probably many other unwanted

spam filtering with centos 5.2
In the past I've used a combination of spamhaus combined RBL's and
Spamassassin with Mailscanner as my spam recipe, but this stopped
working very well for me well over a year ago. As many of the users of
the couple small/personal mail servers I run are NOT technical people,
and use POP to read their mail, 'training' spamassassin is difficult at
best. Once upon a time, using

Sendmail and pmtu discovery
We have an issue with some customers who refuse to accept ICMP traffic
to their mail servers. It seems that they have put Mordac, preventer
of information services in charge of their firewall policy
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_minor_characters_in_Dilbert#Mordac).
My mail logs are showing that customers who specifically disallow ICMP
traffic have many "Connection Reset"

SYD flood dropped on Sendmail (centos 4.x)
My guys,
My firewall seems to block an attack my Centos / Sendmail boxes on port 110.
These servers require a reboot after each attack. My firewall says it's
blocked? Do I need to patch something on sendmail? Or is my firewall not
doing its job (Sonicwall)? This is not the first time this has happened.

Missing something about sendmail
Hi All,
I have a strange problem that I don't understand. I have an access file
which has the following line:
168.144.250.215 OK # xsmtp02.mail2web.com
Yet email from this IP address is getting rejected. From my log file

Cannot start sm-client on CentOS
Starting up sendmail I get:
Starting sm-client: can not chdir(/var/spool/clientmqueue/): Permission
denied
Program mode requires special privileges, e.g., root or TrustedUser.
I assume the user used for sm-client is smmsp. However, that user has
/var/spool/mqueue as homedir and I added him to the trusted users list.
FYI, that user has disabled login (which should be okay) and the group has

Postfix and choice of RBL
Hi,
I'm managing several mail servers running CentOS 7, Postfix and Dovecot.
SpamAssassin is filtering mail nicely, but I'm considering using RBL
(blacklists) to take some load off the servers.
General question to those of you who use RBL. Which lists do you
recommend using?
Cheers,
Niki

sendmail Deferred mail - reason unknown
I'm a bit baffled by this problem. Maybe there's a sendmail guru out there
who can help me out here. We have some end-users who need to receive
system-generated mail that originates from a java-based application on our
network. The java app sends the mail through our sendmail cluster, which
then sends the email on to the end-user over the Internet. The size of the
emails can range from

With next passdb{} as 1st in chain:
passdb {
driver = checkpassword
args = "/tmp/chktst ip=%r service=%s"
result_success = continue
result_failure = return-fail
}
and this script

allow_nets based on RBL
This was brought up in 2014, and left without conclusion, so I thought
it would be time to bump it :)
I would love a way to do allow_nets based on an RBL check, could this be
added to the feature-list?

Thanks

Odd Feature Request - RBL blacklist lookup to prevent authentication
I would like to have a list of IPs (hacker list) that I can do a lookup
on so that if anyone tries to authenticate to dovecot they always fail
if they are on my list.
I have the list - and the list is available as a DNS blacklist.
I'd like to have it work with both local IP lists or RBL lookup.
The idea is so hackers from known IP addresses never succeed.
If Dovecot provides the feature

Problem with Sendmail + Apache
In my /var/log/maillog show this message:
NOQUEUE: SYSERR(apache): can not chdir(/var/spool/clientmqueue/): Permission
denied
Permissions on dir:
drwxrwx--- 2 smmsp smmsp 36864 Jun 30 15:23 clientmqueue
If i change the permissions to 777 works normaly but is not safe and in
other server works fine with the permissions 770.
Anybody have any idea?
Thanks,

Sendmail-SMTP, Cyrus-IMAPD and plus (+) addressing.
Has anyone on this list got sendmail and cyrus-imapd configured so
that email addressed in the form username+folder at example.com gets
delivered directly to cyrus' user.username.inbox.folder?
I have been tinkering with this on and off for about a week and no
matter what I have tried, all traffic addressed in the +folder
format ends up in user.username.inbox instead.
If anyone has gotten
