Can't Compile Driver due to Missing version.h
Dear All, I use a raid card on my Centos 5.4 server. Whenever I updated the kernel, I used to compile drivers of the card for the new kernel. I have done this many times in the past without any problem. But this time after installing the new kernel files given below, I can not compile the new driver anymore. kernel-headers-2.6.18-164.9.1.el5 kernel-PAE-devel-2.6.18-164.9.1.el5

Suggested yum priorities settings for 3rd party repos
In the yum priorities page on the wiki Akemi Yagi suggests http://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/Priorities [base], [addons], [updates], [extras] ... priority=1 [centosplus],[contrib] ... priority=2 Third Party Repos ... priority=N (where N is > 10 and based on your preference) If you have rpmforge, kbs, epel all set up at 10 then wouldn't those also potentially overwrite

internal messages problem with postfix
Hello, After a server crash, I re-installed postfix, cyrus-imapd, amavisd-new, spamassassin on a Centos 5.1 box. But, now mail system behaves somewhat different. There is no problem with mail receiving/sending from/to internet. Before the crash, mail system used to sent internal messages to root at example.com. But now, I can't receive internal messages as it tries to send them to root

yum priorities and obsoleting...
Hey, I ran into a yum conflict regarding an repoforge extra package obsoleting a base package. The thing is that I set a lower priority to repoforge extra... Any idea how come I ran into this issue...? The question is more about the yum priorities than repoforge. ... 1743 packages excluded due to repository priority protections ... --> Running transaction check ---> Package

errors on multimedia guidance for x86_64
I have a fresh install of 5.4 x86_64 from a dvd .iso. All has worked well for several days, including kvm and WinXP running in a vm. Decided it was time to get the multimedia stuff up and running so I could listen to music CDs and watch DVD movies while working. I followed the guidance on the "Tips and Tricks" page for multimedia. fail2ban needs shorewall?
I want to try out fail2ban and notice that both, kbs-CentOS-Testing and ATrpms, have shorewall as a dependency. I do not use shorewall and have never used it. I have my own iptables/firewall script and am happy with it. Can I install shorewall without any ill effects to my current sue of iptables or would I need to use shorewall for firewalling from that point on? (It may be a good product,
