Configuration of a Bind slave server
HI,
Is there any way to configure a slave bind server?. I'm trying to do it but
the zone is not updated.
My conf file on master are:

dnssec-validation auto;
allow-transfer {192.168.222.254;};

DNS configuration problem
I have introduced some error in my dns resolution and I would like
some help fixing it as I cannot seem to detect what I have done
wrong. Briefly the setup is this:
name servers:
DNS01 - 216.185.71.33
DNS02 - 209.47.176.33
DNS03 - 216.185.71.34
DNS04 - 209.47.176.34 - offline
DNS01 is a master
DNS02-04 are slaves of 216.185.71.33
All are listed as authoritative for the zone test.com

Maybe working - Re: BIND DLZ zone transfers
Is there some option on the slave to set the frequency of the AXFR? Say
every hour?

Samba 3.0.4 BDC LDAP Slave Problem
I've configured samba 3.0.4 with LDAP as the backend. I've configured
samba to use the ldap directory, which works fine, my problem is when I
add two two servers into the smb.conf file it sees the first(master)
ldap server, but if I bring that server down it takes forever for it to
switch to the slave ldap server. If I place just a single ldap server,
master or slave, into the

Hi Robert,
yes it does work. But the DLZ bind will not notify any slaves, when the
repository changes. This can be painful, especially for longer TTL values.

Vista password being rejected on share security mode
I'm working on trying to get Samba 3.0.23c to work with Vista and I've run into a snag. If a share is set up for security = share, and protected with a password, when I try to mount the share using Start->Run->\\server\share, the password is rejected by Samba for about the first 10 seconds, but after that, it lets me in. I've tried all the common suggestions such as changing

Properly setup SRV?
Hey gang,
I'm trying to setup the ability to dial a SIP user via their email address.
I'm using SJPhone as my tester UA, but most clients will be using XTen Pro.
I added an SRV DNS entry into our zone, and it returns:

Unsecured zone transfers and open resolvers
Hello,
My question is not related to NSD in particular, but I have seen here on
the list a lot of people that work for TLDs and other Registrars and
Registry operators I thought it would be a good place to ask this
question. It is about DNS though, not completely off topic :).
I have encountered in my DNS studies a few name servers that let you
transfer zones they are authoritative for. The

DNS caching is not working on CentOS
Hi All:
For whatever reason I can not get dns caching to work on any of my
centos boxes. Running Centos 5 and 6. Any thoughts on why these will
not run? The services start fine but when telling to perform a dig
using itself as the resolver the queries fail (See below).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ed

NO DNS zone information found in source domain, not replicating DNS
I am trying to join a Fedora Linux box running Samba 4.1.5 to a Windows
Server 2000 domain controller as an additional domain controller. I should
mention that our realm is the same as our domain name, adi.com. This is a
15 year old mistake. And the Windows DC does not have all of our machines
listed. To work around that I have delegated _msdcs, _sites, _tcp and
_udp to the Windows DC with name

NSD 4.10.1rc2 pre-release
Hi Andreas,
The suggestions I captured in GitHub issues. Thanks for sharing.
Regarding whether notifies are still plain UDP. Yes, the config parser
doesn't accept additional arguments to "notify" and judging by the xfrd
code anything to do with notify is using UDP, so no TLS yet.
I've added a GitHub issue for this too.
Thanks for the suggestions. They make for nice

we have an Domain-Setup with three domains and an forest-trust between
the domains. All domaincontrollers are Windows 2003 Server. The setup of
the Forest-Trusts are identically (as the DC-Admin says).
