Getting printer to work under 5.2
Hi I have a standard hplip install on my 5.2 box installed from the repos (it originally was installed from the 5.1 disks and followed any upgrade that may have occured in the transition to 5.2). My printer is a HP Deskjet F4180 connecting via USB. I can't get the printer to work. Documents manually printed from the file menu in OO.o 2.3 stagnate in a print queue, while the print icon

Trouble setting up HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer on CentOS 7 + KDE
Hi Niki don't you need a hplip addon/plugin, which you can fetch from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html There, with the wizard, you get a file hplip-3.x.x.run which you download and run using bash hplip-3.x.x.run This will install the addon/plugin. suomi On 11/11/2016 08:49 AM, Nicolas Kovacs wrote: > Hi, > > I just installed a CentOS 7 + KDE desktop

Trouble setting up HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer on CentOS 7 + KDE
Hi, I just installed a CentOS 7 + KDE desktop in my office's network. So far, I'm quite happy with the results, though I have some trouble getting the printer to work. All the other machines in my office (server, desktops, workstation) are running Slackware64 14.1 or 14.2, and they can all use the printer perfectly. I installed hplip-gui and ran it. The printer is a network printer, it

Request for hplip upgrade
My wife purchased an HP Deskjet F340 all-in-one printer last year. CentOS 5 includes hplip-1.6.7. I need at least hplip-2.7.10 which I have had to install via tarball. Is there any plans to update this package soon? Thanks -- Bob Taylor

printer trouble - missing driver?
I can't get my HP DeskJet D2345 (USB) to work on my CentOS 5.3 machine. It'll work on another machine (with Fedora 7). I compared the installation details (in CUPS http://localhost:631) - seems that Cent does not have the driver. On the F7 machine, the device is "D2345 (HP D2300 series)" and the driver is "HP DeskJet D2300 Foomatic/hpijs". When I try to config my

Slightly OT - unable to install hplip 2.7 on CentOS 5 64
I have already reported this as a bug to the HP folks, but I was hoping someone here might have a clue about this one. Just bought an HP Deskjet F2120 and tried to install it on my CentOS 5.064-bit system. The printer installed fine, but sane does not recognize the device, so I tried to install hplip 2.7.10, which is supposed to support it. Installation failed twice - first time because I did

Can not print with OpenOffice.Org on CentOS 5.0 x86
I can not print any document with OpenOffice.Org Writer on CentOS 5.0 x86. Has anyone encountered this problem? My printer is HP Deskjet 3745 and apparently uses the hplip and hpijs packages provided by CentOS.

CUPS LAN printing problem (from Vista)
I have my main machine running Centos 5.6, and it has a HP Deskjet 810c printer physically attached to it. CUPSD broadcasts in on my LAN as the default printer. I can print to the default HP printer over the LAN, from a laptop running Centos 5.6. However, I do have problems trying to print to this same printer over the LAN, from a laptop running M$ Vista. Has anyone been able to print from

AD + smbd?
Stupid question # 885: Can Samba 4.1 be both AD server and smb server? Some recent updates on my server broke a bunch of stuff. Samba was among them. I have managed to recover the AD server, but the smb server refuses to take control. Whenever I run the 'smbclient -L localhost -U%', I get all the correct messages, but no workgroup master. Domain=[OZCO] os=[Unix] Server=[Samba 4.1.2}

CUPS oddity
Hi, I've been setting up a few printer servers with CUPS. Our public libraries here all run 100% Linux (CentOS 5), so what I do is simply install the printer on one of the machines (with a static IP) and then configure CUPS so it can act as a printer server for Linux clients. It took me some time to figure this out, and I remember pulling my hair out for a few sunny afternoons, but I

Localize CUPS?
Hi, I've been setting up a networked printer in a 100% Linux LAN, and there's only one small problem left: how do I localize the CUPS interface (e. g. the pages I see when opening http://localhost:631 in a browser)? My system is localized in french. LANG is fr_FR.UTF-8 in /etc/sysconfig/i18n. And I checked Firefox: it's supposed to open web content in French. Curiously, I had

Where to see a printer...
I installed a printer, HP DeskJet 6122, which has no Ethernet device inside. In Windows, I use a local port with address \\darkstar\hp6122. The printer work, but I can see it only in Windows menu "Fax and Printers", not in the share resource of Samba, even if I set my smb.conf with "load printers" and, in [printers]. "browseable = yes" Is it all ok? Thanx M. --

printer loss [susepro9.1]-mostly solved-samba the problem?
Hi, Thanks for the suggestions - the immediate problem is solved. I feel that a monstrous weight has been lifted. I tried the suggestions and the printer connection is back - wonderful!!!!! what a relief! I stopped the firewall and samba so it is one of them, or both which is causing the problem? I would vote for samba3 as the culprit because the printer loss occurred on both machines on a 2

HPLIP vs. CentOS
Hi, Our local school has recently acquired an HP PageWide Pro 477 professional printer. According to HP, the printer requires HPLIP 3.16.3 at least. Unfortunately, CentOS is only shipping HPLIP 3.15.9. So I downloaded and installed the hplip/hplipfull package from the HP site. Installing this thing and getting it to work is not exactly a trivial task, as I documented in my blog:

CentOS 7 + HPLIP = blank page
Hi, I just installed CentOS 7 + KDE on a new workstation in my office. I tried to setup my printer, but the test page is blank. Here's some details. The printer is an HP OfficeJet 8600 Pro. It works perfectly with all other desktop clients running Slackware Linux and HPLIP. I installed hplip and hplip-gui, launched HP Toolbox and then setup the printer - a network printer - which is mainly

Cannot open port 631 for Cups printer sharing
I have been trying to set up printer sharing on the LAN.All machines are CentOS 5.2 fully updated. The problem server is a fresh build. The box it is replacing worked fine for many months. The problem appears to be a closed port 631 on the new box. iptables and ip6tables are stopped as shown by the output below. To confirm I was using nmap correctly I ran it against the old server first which

CentOS5:Printer Won't Work
I have a HP OfficeJet K80xi "all-in-one" USB printer. When I send a file to the printer from a virtual console using the command : lp "anyfilename", the response is "request ID is HPOJK80-7 (1 file(s)". There is no printer action, no sound, nothing. The printers name is HPOJK80; the -7 is the job number. The command lpstat shows there are a total of 7 jobs in the

Recent HPLIP: where's that doc?
Hi, The HPLIP package included in CentOS 5 is one of those packages that lags almost pathologically behind. Now I remember having seen some *official* (HP) documentation describing the procedure to follow to install the *latest* HPLIP on CentOS 5. As far as I can remember, there were even some RHEL5 RPMS on that site. But I can't seem to find that page anymore. Anyone remembers it? Niki
