VT-d not working
Hello there, I am using a Gigabyte H55M-UD2H (Intel H55-Chipset) together with a Core-i5-650. According to Gigabyte Support the Mainboard does support VT-d. Well, actually support says, that VT-d does work on Windows-7 in XP-Mode. They do not test and support Linux though. Did anybody here have success using VT-d on any H55-Board? Perhaps it is some misconfiguration on my side. I tried a

Rsync an offline database?
Is rsync a good way to make a valid copy of offline database files (TSM, in this case) from one xfs filesystem to another? If so, which options should I use? Once again, the database services would be shut down, so the database would be offline. I/O Scheduler
Hi, I noticed on one of the discussion that both Dom0 and DomU have the same scheduler will cause I/O issues and changing the I/O scheduler to noop for Xen VPS will give better performance. Is it correct? If its correct then how can we set the default I/O scheduler as noop for Xen VM''s without getting inside of them? I mean is there any option that we can declare on DomU config itself?

Problem syncing to Netapp (rsync: failed to set times on...)
Hey folks. I have a machine that I use as an intermediary to rsync between a NAS in another building (the users there have poor bandwidth and need local storage) and the our Netapp located in our Datacenter. I get lots of the "rsync: failed to set times on..." errors, and files which have already been transferred just try to sync again anyway. These are the mount options that I use

Trouble with user who has mixed case login (upper and lower)
We're having an issue with a user who has a login with mixed case - we'll call him "USERone". Samba does not recognize him; it says that the "user does not exist" even though he does - and we're using the correct case for each letter. We would rename him to an all lower case name, but he there are multiple folders, files, and groups and processes that we'd

Summary functions to dataframe
I have written a few different summary functions. I want to calculate the statistics by groups and I am having trouble getting the output as a dataframe. I have attached one example with a small dataset that calculates summary stats and percentiles, I have others that calculate upper confidence limits etc. I would like the output to be converted to a dataframe with one of the columns as the

Buggy bios, boot of dos image hangs with syslinux, but not with isolinux
Hi We have a couple of FSC Computers here which seem to have a very strange bios. I am trying to boot a MS-DOS disk to flash an Scsi Raid controller. Since the computer doesn't have a floppy anymore I tried syslinux from an usb stick. The menu loads fine but I cannot boot disc images with memdisk on this computer. It works fine on others, of course. But now comes the weird part, if I use the

Confusing permission issues...
Trying to install samba 3.0.3 on my Linux server, to serve 4 PCs, all in my house, serving my family. Each of 4 users will have a home directory, plus I'll have at least 2 read-only shares. I have basic connectivity, but can't get some of the clients to behave the way I want them to. Specifically, I want to have full admin access for myself for all directories. Everyone else
