Show windows users/groups of a mounted smb filesystem.
Hi, I have setup linux as a member server (fedora 1), it authenticates against a w2k AD server and runs winbind. I modified the login pam file so can login to the linux box with my windows account. After login I see my windows "home" directory that is mounted from a windows w2k fileserver. All described above works fine the only problem I have that I don't see the owner/group of

SIL3114 and sparc solaris 10
Perhaps a bit off-topic (I asked on the rescue list -- http://web.archiveorange.com/archive/v/OaDWVGdLhxWVWIEabz4F -- and was told to try here), but I am kinda shooting in the dark: I have been finding online scattered and vague info stating that this card can be made to work with a sparc solaris 10 box (http://old.nabble.com/eSATA-or-firewire-in-Solaris-Sparc-system-td27150246.html is the

SW-RAID on 2 SATA controllers
Hi, Would it be advisable to use SW-RAID using 2 different SATA controllers. My system happens to have both a VIA VT8237 and SIL3114 SATA controller, and I thought for both performance reason and redundancy using both for a 2 disk RAID1 array would be best. But it's possible that SW-RAID does not like or cannot overcome problems with such a setup or that one of these drivers is known to

Slightly off topic but I''ll ask anyway
Figure maybe someone on this list would know because I imagine people use faster than gigabit ethernet in xen solutions. I picked up two "Flextronics 24-port 4X 1U SDR InfiniBand Switch" for $285 and $340 or (so about $600 for the two shipped) used on ebay. Everywhere I look I see them listed $2,500 new. I have split emotions on this. I already got one of them, it looked primo

External SATA enclosures: SiI3124 and CentOS 5?
Tired of "little problems" trying to keep 7 drives working in an old desktop computer, I'm considering an external SATA drive enclosure with a controller card based on the Sil3124. http://www.ipcdirect.net/servlet/Detail?no=152 I'm a bit concerned about long-term support, namely that the company's driver page only lists drivers through RedHat 4.

zfs hanging during reads
Hi, I hope there''s someone here who can possibly provide some assistance. I''ve had this read problem now for the past 2 months and just can''t get to the bottom of it. I have a home snv_111b server, with a zfs raid pool (4 x Samsung 750GB SATA drives). The motherboard is a ASUS M2N68-CM (4 SATA ports) with an Athlon LE1620 single core CPU and 4GB of RAM. cheap HFC card on Bristuff vs cheap HFC card oni4l vs Fritz ISDN BRI card on CAPI
Hi, Bristuff works great with HFC card... your compilation problem may come from your kernel configuration... You should check this doc, at least, for the redhat config : http://www.automated.it/guidetoasterisk.htm Then, installation of Bristuff works like as charm ! cheap HFC card on Bristuff vs cheap HFC card on i4l vs Fritz ISDN BRI card on CAPI
Hello I have asterisk running in Red Hat 9 with a cheap HFC card on i4l. I have choppy sound problems sometimes, and echo problems often. I am using a 2 port Grandstream ATA, Grandstream BT and a Grandstream GPX-2000 I read that changing to BriStuff will fix the echo problems, but have also read other users say that the only way they solved the echo/choppy sound problems was using a Fritz ISDN

2x analog interface (1 ISDN and 1 door phone) recomendation for Europe ?
Hi, I'd like to use Asterisk with ISDN interface and normal analog interface to door phone (or any other low cost connection type to door phone). What would be your recomendations for needed HW in Europe? Is it possible to have this in one PCI card? Are there any lower cost voip door phones? Thanks in advance, Robert.

Server Recomendation
I am looking to install a system with 200 phones (polycom). There will be about 30-40 simultaneous calls. I am looking at the Dell 1950 with Quad 2.66, 2Gig RAM, Two 160 Gig SATA Drives (Mirrored with a Perc5 card), Dual Gig NIC, and RHEL 4.0. I will use two "gateways" for my PRI's and FXS Cards so PCI won't be used. I will probably use a small 14" 2U server to handle

New laptop recomendation
I have been buying off-lease used Latitudes and Precision laptops for years for the sole reason that they are always Linux friendly and solidly reliable. Most of them can be ordered new with Ubuntu.
