buildinstall problems
Hello all!
I am trying to make a stripped down CentOS 5.2 distro which will all fit
on a single CD containing just the base and a few other packages I need.
I run buildinstall like so:
sudo /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/buildinstall --debug --version 5 --product
CentOS --comps /var/www/html/centos/5.2/os/x86_64/repodata/comps.xml
--release My-CentOS-5.2 --prodpath CentOS

Problems making custom isolinux.cfg
I have added a few custom RPM's to my CentOS 5.2 CD, dropped a
kickstart.cfg file in the root of the CD, and now want to change the
isolinux.cfg in the boot.iso so that it will automatically do a kickstart
install when the CD boots up.
I am using buildinstall to make the ISO. I edited the isolinux.cfg in
/isolinux in my CentOS 5.2 distribution tree off of which I am building my
ISO.
But

Custom CentOS iso's
I have a consulting client who has a Linux based storage appliance which
is based on Fedora Core 2. I'll pause here while you laugh...
They need to upgrade to something more easily supported and CentOS is
the chosen distro. They have the source RPM's for their old system
stored in CVS and have a very weird/complicated build system to turn it
all into an iso which I am still figuring

why does btrfs pronounce "butter-eff-ess"?
As far as I know, btrfs comes from "btree file system", but why does
btrfs pronounce "butter-eff-ess"?

Memory overcommit
I have been using Xen on a daily basis on a production (but not
critical) machine for a number of months now. It''s looking really good.
One thing that I have not yet seen anyone mention as a feature that I
would really like to see is the ability to overcommit memory. I have 2G
of RAM in my machine. I would like to give a developer his own virtual
domain to sandbox his application

Serial console
I am trying to get a CentOS 6.3 serial console to work with IPMI SOL. I think I
have everything working but maybe the wrong baud rate on the getty:
$ ipmitool -I lanplus -U root -H 10.0.0.14 sol activate
Password:
[SOL Session operational. Use ~? for help]
??????????
10.0.0.14 is the DRAC IP address of the CentOS 6.3 box. It accepts the password
and connects me to the console but then when I

really large file systems with centos
I've been asked for ideas on building a rather large archival storage
system for inhouse use, on the order of 100-400TB. Probably using CentOS
6. The existing system this would replace is using Solaris 10 and
ZFS, but I want to explore using Linux instead.
We have our own tomcat based archiving software that would run on this
storage server, along with NFS client and server. Its a

Xen/AoE skb frag array incompatibility
Greetings, Xen developers!
I have been using AoE with Xen to great effect and I am very pleased
with how the whole system has worked out. The two technologies really
complement each other. I consider it the ultimate setup. Aside from the
network switch (eventually to be remedied) my serving infrastructure has
zero single points of failure.
However, this virtualization paradise has a flaw:

how to ignore NA when using cumsum?
I would like to cumulatively sum rows in a matrix, in which each row has 1
NA value. The usual "na.rm=TRUE" does not seem to work with the command
cumsum. Is there another way to ignore the NAs or do I need to figure out a
different way to do this?
Here's an example matrix of title "proportion":

Cannot transfer with Cisco or Snom
I am having a hell of a time with transfers.
First the Snom issues:
The transfer button on the Snom 220 does not work. I have read about
setting break key off in the advanced page of the web config but the Snom
220 has no such option. At the moment I am having to use the # transfer
hack which makes this phone look really stupid to have buttons on it that
cannot be used. Anyone know how to

Handcar on Rails
Dear Friends of Rails, I would like to make a suggestion:
There are two famous (German) projects out there: SelfHTML [1] and
SelfPHP [2], which are some kind of on- and offline (!) documentations.
They contain a nearly complete reference and some tutorials.
Is anyone interested in helping me to build something similar for Rails?
I just have some ideas (like the name and the domain: handcar.de),

how can I use lmer on a windows machine?
To whom it may concern:
I am using R version 1.9.1 beta on a windows machine, and I am trying to
use a function called lmer (in packages lme4 and Matrix). I am not sure
if this version will support these packages (when I install them from
the GUI, the function lmer does not work). I wondered if I need to
install a newer version of R, and if so, which version should I install,
and how should I

Asterisk@Home Forum Suggestions
Hi,
I have created a new forum for Asterisk@Home users (I guess it could
be used by any asterisk users). I am looking for suggestions on forum
categories. If you have any, I would greatly appreciate your input. I
have some already setup but I am not so sure of how logical the
categories are.
You can view what is already in place at http://www.asteriskathome.org.
As you can see, the forum

I am receiving an error when trying to send mail. I am using FreeBSD 6
and dovecot 1.0.alpha5 and postfix 2.3-20051223 which includes the
dovecot sasl patch.
I am getting:
