beta8 + mbox + Thunderbird
Hi all,
I'm still using beta8 (on FreeBSD 5.4-RELEASE).
Recently I put a co-worker who's using Thunderbird (1.5.0.4) on it and
he seemed to have lost some messages (which were delivered on the
spool since seen on procmail logfile).
I switched him on another server to play safe and tried to test it
myself but failed to reproduce the issue. I myself use mutt on a daily
basis with no

Dovecot, Thunderbird and messages in wrong folder
Hello,
Sometimes it happens that messages (e.g. one or two) appear in wrong
folders in Thunderbird (latest version, also past versions, different
computers, also Earlybird). When I repair the folder
(folder/Settings/Repair Folder) in Thunderbird, the folder is correct then.
It happens on my new server with Fedora 20, Dovecot 2.2.13 and Maildir
but it also happened on my old server with

Thunderbird 24.0 for Windows seems to ignore Samba4.0.9 permissions settings
Hi,
I have a CentOS 6.4 fileserver running SerNet Samba 4.0.9 with these
global settings (not overridden):
read only = No
force create mode = 0777
force directory mode = 0777
inherit acls = yes
inherit owner = yes
inherit permissions = yes
On a Windows client, I have Thunderbird 24.0 storing its profile and
mail on the Samba share. The

how to best import Evolution/Thunderbird mail into dovecot?
Hi.
I'm migrating all my mail archive (some 60 GB) from Evolution (which is
really a broken piece of software) into dovecot.
Now I face the problem how to do this best...
Evolution (which is still a old 2.32.x version) itself uses mbox files,
in a special hierarchical structure to allow subfolders and that like.
It also stores it's own status info in X-Evolution and

critical X-UID reordering problem after upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2
We upgraded our imap server hardware and went from dovecot 1.1.3 to 1.2.3
in the process and have been having a critical problem since. I believe
I've tracked it down to X-UID reordering that dovecot seemed to do to the
mbox format (I know, I know...) inboxes. The problem has manifest itself
in several ways with different mail clients but the general problem is
that the mail clients have

Creating llvm/DebugInfo/Msf folder
Hi all,
If you don't care about Debug Info or PDB files you can stop reading now.
Just wanted to give a heads up that I'm planning to add a new folder under
DebugInfo called Msf.
MSF stands for Multi-Stream File and is the container format used by PDB
debug info files. However, MSF by itself is generic enough that it need
not contain PDB data, and in fact I can think of at least one

bot clang-x86-ninja-win7 missing llvm/lib/DebugInfo/MSF/LLVMBuild.txt
The latter. Unfortunately we need to get physical access and delete the
checkout. I'm afraid reverting will just reintroduce the problem and
re-break all the bots that people already took the time to fix, since going
from MSF -> Msf is the same as going from Msf -> MSF

Creating llvm/DebugInfo/Msf folder
I actually regret doing all caps for PDB, and there seems to be mixed use
of all caps / rolling caps even with dwarf (some places say DWARF, others
say Dwarf). I don't feel too strongly aside from the minor inconvenience
of having to change thousands of occurrences where I already used rolling
caps though :-/

IMAPS - timeout while moving mails
Hi,
I'm using Dovecot v1.0.beta5 (NetBSD 3.0, i386) and Mozilla Thunderbird
1.5 (XP, i386). My dovecot.conf is pretty simple, because I just use
dovecot for me as the only user.
However, when I try to move a 'larger' amount of mails (>200) from my
local TB-mbox to the remote IMAPS-storage, the process hangs after about
150 - 160 transferred mails (the 'blocking' mail

Evolution: always a 90-second delay
I'm trying to use Evolution on the latest CentOS 7.
Whenever I try to receive or send mail, there's always a 90-second
delay before the connection works. Since the delay is always exactly
90 seconds, I think I may be waiting for something to time out.
Perhaps this is a clue. My address is user at example.com. I have to log
in to pop.example.com or imap.example.com as user, not as

Mailbox isn't a valid mbox file
Hello all,
I have a new installation of Fedora 4 and Dovecot 1.4.Alpha4
A small percentage of my users are getting unable to pop mail from a client
(ie: Outlook), they get continually prompted for username/password. The
error they get is: Mailbox isn't a valid mbox file.
When I look in the file, I don't see anything unusual. There's not much
info on the Internet about this

evolution - folders not displayed correctly
Hello,
First, I used thunderbird, and everything looks great.
I tried my account in evolution and all the folders
appear in one level and not in several as they were in
thunderbird.

filtering out LIST cruft?
In planning our migration, I've noticed that lots of users have
bits of lint in their ~/mail and/or ~/Mail.
For example-- for an mbox called "blah" we may see:
blah
blah.msf (from Thunderbird)
.blah.summary (from... I'm not sure, dtmail maybe)
.blah_SIMS_index0003 (from our old IMAP server).
When the user goes to

Import from Evolution
I need to import the mail database generated by the evolution mail
reader into dovecot. Evolution stores its mail in maildir format (fully
standards compatible, I think); I would be using the maildir format in
dovecot. Is there anything in the wiki, etc. explaining exactly how to
do this?
Why do this? Evolution is hopelessly broken, and is not likely to be
fixed in the forseeable future, and

bot clang-x86-ninja-win7 missing llvm/lib/DebugInfo/MSF/LLVMBuild.txt
The bot has been failing its CMake step for a while now.
Probably fallout from renaming Msf to MSF. Can somebody
get this straightened out? It's one of the bots that run
VS2013 AFAICT which makes it useful to me.
Thanks,

Basic questions concerning mail...
Hey all,
A few minutes ago, I installed Dovecot, hoping things would get clear by
just looking at the relevant config files, but since they don't, I hope
someone here could give me a clue...
What I want to achieve is really only basic functionality. It's just for
personal use, so it shouldn't get too complicated. Up til now, I have
been using fetchmail to get my mail off of several

Maildir + Evolution
I don't know if this is an Evolution bug or not, but when I use the
maildir format with Dovecot 0.99.10p2 (from OpenBSD packages collection)
and connect to it from Evolution 1.4 using IMAP, Evolution displays
subfolders incorrectly. It actually does not show any subfolders, only
root folders with names like "Folder.Subfolder" and
"Folder.Subfolder.Subsubfolder".

Convert from mbox to Maildir
Hello everybody,
I am in the process to install dovecot as an IMAP server.
Currently, this system runs postfix and uses procmail for local (mbox
style) delivery.
Procmail ist started by postfix like this:
/etc/postfix/main.cf:
mailbox_command = /usr/bin/procmail
~/.forward:
"|IFS=' ' && exec /usr/bin/procmail -f- || exit 75 # jw"

RFC: Adding llvm::ThinStream
Some background:
A while back while working on code to read / write PDB files, I came up
with Yet Another Stream Abstraction. Note that LLVM already has a few.
Off the top of my head, theres:
1) `MemoryBuffer` and its associated class hierarchy
2) `raw_ostream` and it's associated classes.
3) `DataExtractor` which is used for reading from a StringRef.
There's probably more, and
