chattr +T not implemented?
We run a third party application that creates an inordinate amount of
subdirectories in a single directory. To speed up I/O, I wanted to set
the T attribute on the directory that will hold the subdirectories. The
"chattr +T /usr/local/lepus-bb/a-0607" command returns status 0, but
when I verify the setting, the attribute isn't there:
# lsattr -d /usr/local/lepus-bb/a-0607

I am having some serious problems getting winbind to recognize secondary group memberships. I have a samba server version samba-3.0.0-14.3E running on RHES v.3.
This is running on a 2x Xeon 2.4 Ghz IBM Server with 2G Ram. nscd is not running.
See below for smb.conf.

member server can't authenticate users?
Hey List-
I've got 2 samba servers.
PDC: FreeBSD 5.4; samba: 3.0.23 ? name: bugs
member server: FreeBSD 6-stable; samba: 3.0.23 ? name: daffy
note: config files are at the bottom of the email
The PDC was running an older version, but I just upgraded and it didn't fix
the below issue. The member server was running fine with the old smb.conf
file, but I rebuilt the server and now it

other starts, gets the file list and processes a few folders. Then it will
hang for about 5 minutes before sptting out the following errors:

User directories and groups usage
Morning everyone.
I was playing around today with our PDC setup.
One thing I noticed is that when I setup users to have their 'My Documents'
directory be /home/<user> everything works well.
One thing I noticed is that the directory, subdirectories and files have
the owner of the user and the group as per assigned, and permissions as 700.
If I wanted to set it up so a specific

sieve: store string list in varable
Hi,
I'm working on a Sieve script and want to store a list of addresses in a variable to easily access the list multiple times later.
For example I want to transform this:
if address :is "from" ["daffy.duck at example.com", "porky.pig at example.com", "speedy.gonzales at example.com"] {
fileinto "friends";
}

Red Hat commercial support for CentOS/Fedora
Someone told me that if you have a CentOS or Fedora server, you can pay a
Red Hat yearly fee and get them to support it (because the environments are
so similar).
Can anyone here substantiate this claim?

high performance open source DHCP solution?
The free DHCP solution, ISC, seems to be having scaling issues (i.e.
handling only about 200 DHCPDISCOVER and 20 DHCPRENEW requests), and I
was wondering if anyone had any open source suggestions of solutions
that could scale much better?
(Ideally, I could find a free version of a solution like Nominum, but
I know that's asking for much.)
Anyone have any suggestions?

f/oss routing solution?
I'm looking for an open source router solution, and someone from the list
recently recommended zebra (www.zebra.org). I haven't yet identified all my
needs, but I'm guessing that it will do all my routing needs for a, say,
class C set of IP addresses, particularly if I ever have to do anything
BGP-related.
Anyone have any pointers before I delve in? Or possibly a recommendation

Samba SWAT 2.2.7 Doesn't Work in Redhat8.0?
Hello All Samba-list Members,
I have installed a Samba 2.2.7, the samba-latest.tar.gz, as a PDC on a
Redhat8.0 GNU/Linux server. ( Of course, I first uninstalled the original
samba that came with the Redhat installation CDs by rpm -e samba*.) The
installation was successful. Then I modified /etc/services and
/etc/xinetd.d/swat as suggested in the installation document uncompressed

httpd cannot serve web page on port 2812 (for Monit)
Might there be anything CentOS related on why I cannot access the
Monit GUI system on http://box-running-monit.com:2812 ?
I am using a very basic /etc/monit.conf config, but I cannot get it
serve the web page on my box
The service start and stops fine (e.g. "/etc/init.d/monit start"), and
I have it set to listen to port 2812 in the "/etc/monit.conf file" (so

More on Problems with PXELinux and ramdisk not loading
Had to changed the Subject header because the mailing list software thought the previous one ("so old bootloader" ...) was suspicious.
Just a backgrounder and a little more info I've gathered:
