Creating a USB Flash Installation Drive
With the decreasing price of USB Flash Memory Drives, I was wondering
how I would go about creating a USB Flash Drive that could be used the
same as CD 1 to install CentOS on my servers.
Has anyone done this, and if so, can you tell me the procedure to make
this work?
Thanks!

System hangs at "Rebooting System" on VIA KM400 chipsets
Hello,
We have a number of systems running KM400 chipsets from VIA (Socket
A/462). Two different models have produced the same results -- DFI
KM400-MLV and MSI KM4M-V. When a /sbin/reboot or /sbin/shutdown -r now
is issued, the system does everything you would expect from a reboot,
but when it gets to Rebooting System, it hangs and requires a power cycle.
The logs do not indicate anything

[HELP] SAMBA as PDC for windows.
Hi guys, well, reason I'm here is because im stuck, I've tried everything but
have come up empty handed every single time, and I really need this
security, and fast. I'm not going to pay a few thousand for windows server
... because this can be done with SAMBA. Here goes. I tried to setup samba
with defaults, went to (on windows) Control Panel -> System -> (TAB)

Samba AD not resolving external names
After reboot, the problem came back again.
Server refuses to resolve external names without "nameserver 8.8.8.8" in
resolv.conf and gives the same SERVFAIL message when doing nslookup

Samba AD not resolving external names
I fell asleep at my desk... and now it's working fine.
I have no idea what was wrong or why it magically fixed itself.

Samba AD not resolving external names
I have just set up a new AD and am having a little success with it, but DNS
resolution is a little slow.
I'm looking into why that is and tried an ns lookup for google.com and got
the answer SERVFAIL on my AD server.
The query was then passed to my next nameserver (google's own dns), which
handled the query.
Is this correct behaviour? I've not seen SERVFAIL before

Hi,
I have set up Samba-3.0.11 to retrive account information from W2k

But is takes about 10 sec. to retrive the information.
I have dumped some traffic from the request, and it looks like this:

Bug#437891: logcheck-database: addition to ignore rule for bind's RCODE
Package: logcheck-database
Version: 1.2.54
Severity: wishlist
In addition to seeing warnings from bind about REFUSED and SERVFAIL
unexpected RCODE, I'm also getting from "15" in my logs as well, from
various unrelated hosts. This doesn't occur nearly as frequently as the
other two, but still enough to be annoying.
May I suggest inserting "(REFUSED|SERVFAIL|15)" in

Ow and..
Your hosts files are incorrect.
Layout should be :
ip hostname.fqdn hostname
So this should be :
> 10.44.1.10 ry11citdc.ry11cit.lan ry11citdc
> 10.44.1.9 ry11citsdc.ry11cit.lan ry11citsdc
Reboot both servers after the change.

Could not resolve host: mirror.centos.org
There seems to be a problem with my local dns server resolving
mirror.centos.org.
I know something about dns but obviously not enough to figure out what
might be wrong here or how to fix
this in bind configs. The SERVFAIL errors below seem to be related to
AAAA and MX queries for the domain.
Please advise. TIA.
# host mirror.centos.org 8.8.8.8

bind9, SELinux, ServFail
I just set up a CentOS 5.2 system with bind9 (9.3.4-6.0.1.P1.el5) and
I'm running up against a problem that seems to be related to SELinux.
If I set named_disable_trans to 1, everything works as expected, but
if I leave it enabled the server will only give me data for the zones
for which it is authoritative. For external sites it returns a
ServFail error. This is with nslookup and dig.

No Domain Controller, Please help to interpret tcpdump
Greetings!
I am still struggling with the issue that after vampiring from NT4
domain to Samba 3.0.7 with ldap backend, Windows XP cannot find the domain
controller.
In particular, WXP is an XP Prof which signed in AB_INITIO_DOM domain.
After the migration I put the Samba Server (Priscilla) and WXP in an
isolated network, and started up Priscilla as PDC for the network. But WXP

Apparently I missed a step somewhere!
On DC01 /etc/systemd/resolved.conf says

#Domains=
#LLMNR=no
#MulticastDNS=no
#DNSSEC=no
#DNSOverTLS=no

On DC02 it reads

DNSSEC=no

Any advice for installing Samba as an AD server on Raspbian Buster with BIND9 and ISC DHCP?
Sorry about the HTML in the last email - I'm attempting to resend
(with fingers crossed that my mailer doesn't throw in a bunch of HTML this time...)
---->
I've taken the good suggestions and made some progress getting a bind-dhcp-samba server
running on the Pi with Raspbian Buster.
