Why libnetfilter_queue is missing from CentOS, but available in, Fedora?
I am asking this on behalf of the HIPL developers;
http://infrahip.hiit.fi/
https://launchpad.net/hipl
They have been working on getting their code consistant to the new
libnetfilter architecture. Finally have Fedora 18 and 19 available, but
have hit a stumbling block with Centos 6. They tell me they are not
finding libnetfilter_queue. Here is their message to me:

vncserver on IPv6
http://www.realvnc.com/products/enterprise/4.1/ipv6.html
IPv6 support in VNC Server E4.1.7/P4.1.2
VNC Server E4.1.7 & P4.1.2 are fully IPv6-aware, but is shipped with
IPv6 support disabled by default, for security reasons. IPv6 can be
enabled by setting "InTransports=IPv6,IPv4" (the default being IPv4
only), either on the command-line when starting vncserver under Unix
Ok.

0006698: CentOS is missing libnetfilter queue related packages
I am working with HIP for Linux:
http://infrahip.hiit.fi/
We are looking to some major server support on currently Centos 6 cloud
images.
Problem is for other distros, hipl has moved on to libnetfilter_queue
which is not supported in Centos 6. See:
http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=6698
How can we get this as part of the standard install and maintained libs?
thank you.

tightvnc server fails to start
I tried to use tightvnc back in August and had some help, but I stopped
due to IPv6 support. Now I am back at tightvnc and cannot get the
server started. This is on a new Centos install that did have regular
vncserver working on it (I did a yum erase vnc-server first).
So I have a working /etc/sysconfig/vncserver and my user has the
appropriate ~/.vnc files that worked with regular vnc.

My turn at building a custom kernel for IPsec BEET mode
Well I am working on building a kernel that will have the IPsec BEET
mode patch available from infrahip.hiit.fi.
I have some decent help, but really no one there is a seasoned Centos
kernel builder (though they work with different FC kernels), and now
they are mostly done for the day.
I have been following the wiki on building a custom kernel, got my patch
in ~/rpmbuild/SOURCES and away with

winbind and vnc revisited
A couple of days ago, I posted a question about using vnc with winbind
users (i.e. users from a Win2k3 Active Directory domain being
authenticated locally on a Linux box -- in this case Fedora Core 3 --
with winbind). The consensus seemed to be that it wasn't possible, at
least with the free versions of VNC.
Well, not so. Here's how I did it.
First, I found out by accident (i.e. just

Can't yum erase/install an app
I am switching the box that I did the HIPL rpm builds over to running
from rpms built directly by the HIPL team
(http://infrahip.hiit.fi/hipl/release/1.0.4/).
I did the 'make uninstall' and then 'yum install hipl-all', but the
hipl-firewall rpm did not install. Seems like I have a mess on my
system with the various hipfw files. I 'manually' deleted a bunch of
them

Support for ECDSA in OpenSSL?
Does the version of OpenSSL on Centos 6.5 support ECDSA keypairs?
How do I test if this works? (though I should probably ask this on the
OpenSSL list)
The reason I suspect a problem is that HIPL for Centos
(http://infrahip.hiit.fi/) is not creating the ECDSA Host Identity,
whereas my Fedora installation IS creating the ECDSA HI.

Wine
Hello,
I want to run some program with Wine in a headless server. However, I want to access it via VNC, so I am using Xvnc (vncserver is a wrapper script) from tightvnc as a X server. But I have a problem: wine doesn't detect the display of the X server. This is what happens:
Code:
[martin at urano ~]$ DISPLAY=:1
[martin at urano ~]$ vncserver :1
New 'X' desktop is urano:1 (...)

VNC 'fix' for 256 colour game only shows 2 colours?
I'm trying to run an old (~1995) Windows game under Wine, but it requires 256 colours and won't work any higher. I've checked out the 256 colour hacks page and the X methods don't work, because I use the FGLRX drivers and they don't support 8bpp, so I'm trying VNC.
I've installed vnc-server and vnc so I can play it through a 256 colour VNC connection, but so far I can

running x server on domU without graphics hardware
Hi, is there any solution to running X on domU, when not using hvm? I''ve tried
using vncserver/tightvnc, but it doesn''t support many X extentsions (notably
randr) and gnome does weird things, because parts of it keep crashing without
randr extenstion.
thanks

Xen VNC Hang
When I try to create a PV domU, the VM starts up and I can access it
through "xm console <id>", but when I try to connect to it through
VNC, the port just hangs. I''ve tried using RealVNC and TightVNC, and
also tried on Linux and Windows. All that happens on the client is
that it says that the connection has established, and hangs there.
I''ve tried running

VM Remote access options
Just to error test my own thinking here, there seems to be the following
options for remote graphical access to a running domian vm. Besides the
normal network service via a port and a raw console, the options are
straight X, VNC, and XN.
X - supports a single X window running on a local XServer, tied to a single
process on the remote system. No remote desktop
VNC - comes in two flavors of

Problems with building an rpm
I followed the setup instructions from
http://www.owlriver.com/tips/non-root/ (link from the Centos wiki). All
this is done on another 'clean' system, so I have to read the terminal
screen there and tell what went wrong here.
I then followed my colleague's instructions to get the tar, untar,
autogen, configure, and finally make rpm.
Well it was that make rpm command that finally

Missing fonts for tightvnc
You would think installing via yum would handle dependencies, but
perhaps fonts are not managed like dependencies.....
Anyway, I installed tightvnc to test out its IPv6 support.
Installed ok (after I erased regular vnc). But when I tried to start
it, I got 5 warnings about:
Font directory '/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc' not found - ignoring
