What is/provides php-pear(PEAR)
I am running up against a less than helpful error message when trying to
install php-pear-DB (why people cannot content themselves with all
lowercase packages names escapes me, but that is a rant for another time
and place). After enableing centos-plus and adding includepkgs=php-pear-DB
I get this:
# yum install php-pear-DB

php-pear missing from 5.8 (i386) metadata?
Hi,
# yum install php-pear
<snip>
No package php-pear available.
Nothing to do
This is on CentOS 5.8 (i386). The package is available for both archs on
the two mirrors I checked. I also tried a
# yum clean headers
# yum clean metadata
# yum clean dbcache
to no avail. Am I missing something or is it the metadata?
Regards,
Leonard.

pear
Hi,
is it safe to install additional modules to pear with "pear install"? I
need php-pear-MDB2 which is in CentosPlus but does not contain
php-pear-MDB2_Driver_xxx. So I did:
yum install php-pear-MDB2
pear upgrade MDB2
pear install MDB2#mysql
Thanks,

Replacement web server time - catalog CPAN and PEAR installs
I'm looking to replace an OLD Fedora web server with a Centos 7 one. I'm
currentlly in the process of documenting what is on the server ready to
install the new one.
While most things have been done with RPMs, some installs have had to be done
via CPAN for Perl and PEAR for PHP.
Is there a way of getting a list of everything that has been installed using
these tools?

PEAR Channel and Git Repository Mirror for PHP Markdown & Extra
Until today, the only way I offered PHP Markdown and PHP Markdown
Extra was with packaged zip files available on my website. It turns
out, unsurprisingly, that some people would prefer a simpler path for
keeping their copy of PHP Markdown up-to-date.
So today I announce two additional ways of grabbing PHP Markdown and
PHP Markdown Extra. The first one is a PEAR channel which can be used

php53 and pear
Hi all
We require some packages installed through pecl (apc and memcache)
which we have done on CentOS 5.5 by installing php 5.2 from testing
and also installing php-devel and php-pear to much success! We would
like to move to php 5.3 after 5.6 comes out but I note that there is
no specific php53-pear package in testing and the php-pear srpm in the
5server directory on ftp rc com seems to be

Managing Pear and Pecl packages in Puppet
Hi all,
I''m using the pear/pecl package providers from
http://www.mit.edu/~marthag/puppet/ and I''ve run into a memory limit
problem.
I''ve tried hacking the script so that it passes additional options to
pecl/pear, however these just error out about not being valid options
(even though they are!).
I''m now at a point where the following stanza gives the

How to install PHP PEAR stuff best?
Hello CentOS users,
I'm using gChartPhp by having copied it into /var/www/html dir.
It works ok, but I wonder how to better install/organize/maintain PEAR
"packages" under CentOS?
I've got the php-pecl rpm installed too, wonder if it's helpful here.
Or maybe just add a dir to php.ini?
Please share your PHP "admin" wisdom

Big devices and missing space
Hello,
I have a Promise EX 12-port RAID controller in my box, connected to 8
750GB disks. I have set up 2 RAID-5 devices and joined these using LVM.
This is working fine.
However, there is something that seems wrong..
(4-1) * 750 = 2250, but df reports the LVM volume as a mere 4.0T;
/dev/mapper/storage_volume-stor 4.0T 3.6T 507G 88% /storage
Shouldn't this be 4.5TB?

CentOS 5.2 Missing Dependancy
I am trying to install perl-Digest-Perl-MD5 from rf and it is failing suggesting it
needs /usr/bin/false. #yum whatprovides "/usr/bin/false" yields nothing.
My CentOS 5.1 machines don't have this, and this is the same list of yum install
items I always use when setting up assp.
Any idea what to do?

Laggy and faulty Samba server
Hi,
I've installed Samba a few times, and I always have the same problem -
except now I really want to get rid of it.
My Samba server is very, very, very slow on occations (not always), and
some times it's really annoying.
What happens is that it doesn't seem to be online for a period of 5-10
seconds once every minute! If I'm copying huge files, it's working
great, but when

Question about Open SSH Public Keys
Hi People
I am setting up some systems with ssh public keys and as part of this I
am using the from directive inside .ssh/authorized_keys. Currently I am
using the IP address to control the source. eg from="10.0.0.1" but on
one CentOS 4 System that is up to date this will only work if I replace
the IP with the DNS name of the server. I have verified that DNS is
resolving the DNS

[Request] mod_auth_ntlm_winbind
http://adldap.sourceforge.net/wiki/doku.php?id=mod_auth_ntlm_winbind
I have built an rpm for my own use, by grabbing the source files from
sambas' web interface to cvs.
It would be real neat to have it packaged and available through yum.
