Can't Compile Driver due to Missing version.h
Dear All, I use a raid card on my Centos 5.4 server. Whenever I updated the kernel, I used to compile drivers of the card for the new kernel. I have done this many times in the past without any problem. But this time after installing the new kernel files given below, I can not compile the new driver anymore. kernel-headers-2.6.18-164.9.1.el5 kernel-PAE-devel-2.6.18-164.9.1.el5

internal messages problem with postfix
Hello, After a server crash, I re-installed postfix, cyrus-imapd, amavisd-new, spamassassin on a Centos 5.1 box. But, now mail system behaves somewhat different. There is no problem with mail receiving/sending from/to internet. Before the crash, mail system used to sent internal messages to root at example.com. But now, I can't receive internal messages as it tries to send them to root

ls : not UTF-8 compliant?
Sorry bugging you for this simple command. ls command displays question marks for the local characters (ones not included in 8859-1 space) in filenames. ie. [root at server aa]# touch ?arp [root at server aa]# ls ??arp [root at server aa]# ls -b #for octal escapes \303\247arp [root at server aa]# However, ls|less, ls|more or vi <directory name> all display filename

Odd ethernet interface
Hello, I have a CentOS 6 VM on a CentOS 6 host. This VM has two ethernet interfaces, eth0 and eth1. It was working nice. All of a sudden eth1 stopped working as expected. Kernel started to give the message below: kernel: udev: renamed network interface eth2 to eth2-eth1 There is no any eth2 or eth2-eth1 in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/. I really don't know where it is coming from.

Hi, My host and guest are CentOS 6. The guest is going to be a web server in production. I am trying to resize (extend) of the base partition of my guest. Installing on Abit BE7-RAID
I have RH 8 running on a Abit BE7-RAID motherboard. My task is installing Centos 4.1 with limited knowledge on installing with hardware RAID. The arrays are still in place for the two pairs of drives. HighPoint only shows drivers up through RH 9. Is there anyone who can take me through the steps? Remove the existing arrays? Will the drivers work with Centos 4.1? Since I used Windows to

ext3 and highpoint RAID.
oops. I successfully installed RedHat 8.0 onto two ATA133 80gig drives running a mirrored RAID with the hpt37x (highpoint 372 onboard RaidController on the SOYO DRAGON motherboard.) I used ext3 as my filesystem type of choice but unfortunately the system shut down uncleanly and it now is coming up with the "press Y to force file system integrity check" at boot.... which it runs by

HighPoint RocketRaid 454
Hello, I know that this card has support in FreeBSD but I'm curious if anyone has used them under heavy load in a RAID-5 configuration. We're thinking of equipping two of these cards with 8 120GB Hitachi drives and run it in an RAID-5 array for video material. The usual data streams will likely be 2-3 streams at about 5-20MB/s (totally) and I know that a single drive will handle that,

Highpoint Rocketraid 2240
Has anyone on the list used one of these w/Linux? We currently use Linux + Cinelerra for editing uncompressed video (and a few dual G5 macs running Final Cut Pro). Current editing stations are getting a bit long in the tooth so I've been mulling over a mass upgrade. 8-) These cards are interesting to me because they are PCI-X and support 4 SATAII drives per multilane/infiniband

CentOS 5 grub boot problem
I am trying to upgrade my system from 500GB drives to 1TB. I was able to partition and sync the raid devices, but I cannot get the new drive to boot. This is an old system with only IDE ports. There is an added Highpoint raid card which is used only for the two extra IDE ports. I have upgraded it with a 1TB SATA drive and an IDE-SATA adapter. I did not have any problems with the system

g_vfs_done with offset greater than disk size
I've been trying to get a problem fixed with a Highpoint 1820a crashing out with errors like: kernel: IAL: COMPLETION ERROR, adapter 0, channel 2, flags=104 kernel: ATA regs: error 10, sector count 20, LBA low ff, LBA mid ff, LBA high ff, device 4f, status 51 which results in the disk being dropped from the array. A sharp eyed engineer at Highpoint has just spotted the fact that the read

Third-party SATA-RAID cards suggestions
Hi all, Would anybody care to suggest a third party SATA-RAID card that works out of the box with CentOS 6, without having to jump through hoops to make it work? The card should preferably be able to connect ten harddrives, but I guess three four-port cards should work as well. There's no need for anything fancy really, as long as I can create a single big software-raid on it at CentOS
