Hey guys,
I'm trying to install the latest Kerio and it seems to want an older

low data rate codecs
Hi,
I've been testing out the speex narrowband codec at low data rates
(using linphone and Counterpath's Eyebeam). I'm finding that at data
rates of ~25 kbps, the quality of the voice call is very poor. I know
speex is supposed to work at much lower data rates (~2 kbps). Has
anyone verified that speex will produce reasonable quality at low data
rates? Are there any existing

Using server side phonebook directory with SPA941
Hello list,
I got a couple of those "wouldn't it be great questions", as following:
1. Is it possible, with asterisk to hold a central phonebook directory
of callers?, so that when this party calls a "textual" caller ID will
be displayed on the phone display.
2. How can this be configured with Trixbox, I've looked at the
configuration options - I assume it plays no

Tables in legend
I need to create a legend for a simple scatter plot in the following
format.
This is Blah1 number1 number2
This is Blah2 number3 number4
.
.
.
This is Blah6 number11 number12
I looked up these help pages and found the following solution.
lStr<-c(Blah1, Blah2,....Blah6, number 1, number2, ...number12)
legend(x="topright",lStr,ncol=3)
So this creates the tabular format I am

[LLVMdev] Turning off color in clang error mesages?
Is it possible to turn off the colorizing of clang error messages? The
reason I ask is that using clang in an XEmacs buffer results in user
unfriendly output like this:
$ clang -c -Wall -Wno-switch -Wundef -Wsign-compare -Wno-char-subscripts
-Wpacked -Wshadow -Wmissing-declarations -Wmissing-prototypes
-Wstrict-prototypes -Wdeclaration-after-statement -Wunused-parameter

2 devices same *actual* extension - can it be done
Hello,
My company has invested heavily in Counterpath?s Stretto provisioning platform for Mobile and Desktop VoIP clients .
At this time their system allows 2 devices (for example iPhone + desktop computer) using the same software license per user , which many of our users require.
Their provisioning system assumes that both devices will use the same SIP extension for auth however.

RTCP not being sent when on hold
Hello,
When I receive a call to my CounterPath Bria from Asterisk 1.4.18.1 and I
place the call on hold, the call is dropped after 30 seconds.
It looks like there is no RTCP/RTP sent to the client from Asterisk while on
hold (music on hold playing to caller) thus client disconnects the call.
During this time, I get the following messages in the CLI:
NOTICE[24194] rtp.c: Unknown RTP codec 126

Mostly to debug/test BLF, is there a softphone or another app. which can
subscribe to hints on Asterisk?
Heck, it doesn't even need to be able to do calls :-)

[Softphones] ZoIPer vs. XLite?
Hello
I need to hook up someone's remote PC onto our Asterisk server over
the Net. There are firewalls on each side, so I figured it's time to
give IAX a try, and see if it's less of a pain to use than SIP. And
since IAX hardphones are pretty are, I guess I'll go softphone.
Apparently, the two most well-known IAX and SIP clients for Windows
are ZoIPer and X-Lite, respectively.

Setting Group owner of files on USB drive
I just got a 8Gb flash drive and went to copy a bunch of files onto it.
I wanted to perserve everything, so I just took my archiving rsync
command and altered it to go to localhost:/media/RALLY2/ (name of flash
drive). I am getting errors with changing the group owner. Huh?
So I try to just use mkdir to create a directory on the flash drive.
The directory has a group of root ???
So I try

Need GLIBCXX-3.4.9 for /usr/lib64/libstdc++
I am trying to compile an application on a CentOS 5.0 64-bit machine that gives
me the error:
/usr/local/bin/myprog: /usr/lib64/libstdc++: version `GLIBXX.3.4.9' not found

I have gcc 4.2.3.
I've performed a yum install compat-* and glibc*
What am I missing?
Thanks.

Softphone recommendation
Hi Folks,
Had a quick search through the archives for softphones and cannot see any
recommended ones.
My question is what recommended free softphones are out there that can be
used with Asterix? I don't really know how many are out there. Is anyone
currently using a softphone with Asterix and if so which one and how do you
find it?
I'm only interested in ones that I can download and use
