can non-owner change file group setup?
We are tried to count how many files belong to certain group. Our system administrator told us "non-owner" can easy change file group name to another. I have been tried several combination and never successful (only ROOT can change file group to other name).
Does anyone know how "no-owner" can change file group name?
Thanks.

Rsync and full path of filenames
Hi,
I have a bit of a tricky question about rsync.
Let's say I want to backup a bunch of configuration files with rsync, in
a script.
What I don't want to do : a full snapshot of /etc.
What I want to do : backup only those files I need, in an otherwise
empty directory tree.
In my script, I'd begin with a list of the files I effectively want to
backup. Something like :

what is the best way to delete so many queue files?
Hello, all.
I found that so many unnessary queue files are saved at /var/spool/clientmqueue/ directory.
I tested two way to delete these files.
1.
# rm -rf /var/spool/clientmqueue/*
2.
# cd /var/spool/clientmqueue/ ; find . | xargs rm -fv
But this makes a few load of the system and took too much time to delete.
What is the best way to delete fast without too much load?

not enough charcters available in %J or confusing blanks?
Hi,
I try to create PDF files with an modified script from Buchan Milne and
have some problems with the Jobname var %J.
Because it is better for the users to find an file with an similar name
as the original document I'm looking for a way to read out %J, cut some
unnessasary stuff and use the rest as new file name. The problem is:
In %J in some circumstances is not the complete Jobname as

ps-output and LaTeX/DVIPS/PS2PDF - Greek letters disappear
Hello!
My graphs are produced using the "postscript"-option in R (R version
2.10.1 (2009-12-14)). When Greek letters are used on the axis,
everything looks fine in the *.ps-file. If included in a LaTeX-file and
(on Ubuntu 10.04, fresh install), the Greek letters appear in the DVI-
and PS-output, however, if converted with ps2pdf they suddenly
disappear. Could anyone suggest a

.ps and .pdf page size differences in FC vs. Debian
R version: 2.0.0
OS: Fedora Core 1
When I'm using Fedora Core 1, Rplots.ps (and subsequent Rplots.pdf
created after using ps2pdf Rplots.ps) which are created from the command
line execution of R are too large to fit on a US Letter sized page when
printed. The same code will produce a US letter sized page when I'm on
my Debian Sid box. Both boxes are connected to the same shared

Landscape problems with ps2pdf
R Users,
I have created a multipage PostScript file using the postscript() function
with horizontal = TRUE to produce my plots in landscape. I intended to
convert that entire file to PDF using ps2pdf to have the plots available for
a presentation. Unfortunately, the resulting PDF document is rotated -90
degrees.
I have found dozens of references to this kind of problem with ps2pdf
online, but

several postscript problems
Hello everyone,
I'm currently trying to export a couple of graphs to pdf . Postscript
would be fine too, but I'm using odd page dimensions, which seem to be
overwritten when using the "ps2pdf" command. I'm using the pdfpages
package in LaTeX to put 6 graphs onto one page (this is why it ought to
be a pdf in the end).
I have two problems:
1. I'm using

Printing with CUPS and PDF
Trying to get one Samba server to serve several printers through CUPS
and host a virtual PDF "printer" at the same time. I've gotten them
working separately, but not together, and I think I know why.
In the smb.conf man page under "print command":
"With printing = cups, and if SAMBA is compiled against libcups, any
manually set print command will be ignored."

pictex driver and bargraph shading
I'm trying to use the pictex driver for bargraphs, and the shading isn't
showing up. Is there any way to get some sort of shading in the plots? A
hatch or stipple would be fine, too; just some way to differentiate the
bars.
The postscript driver won't do, since I'm trying to embed this in a LaTeX
document which I'll use pdflatex on and \includegraphics for pdftex doesn't

Windows PC PostScript printer driver -> CUPS data import fails
Hi all,
For some years now I have been using a simple system I found online which
allows me to easily import data from Windows Programs.
Hopefully others out there are using the system and already have found the
answer to my problem.
I have installed on my Centos server a virtual CUPS printer which receives a
PS file, and then runs 'ps2pdf' and 'pdftotext -layout' to end up
