gecko-libs dependency resurfaces
In doing an update of centos 5.2 this morning, I observed that the old
gecko-libs dependency issue caused yum update to fail because it was
required by nspluginwrapper (x64_86), devhelp, yelm and firefox. Also, a
firefox (x64_86) showed the red hat splash screen rather than centos.
Manual installation of affected rpms using --nodeps (I don't advise this) did
not apear to impair the

nspluginwrapper failure on x86_64 in 5.2
This was working in 5.1 - I am now getting errors when I try to run a
flash video in seamonkey under CetnOS 5.2. Here is the error:
For application/x-shockwave-flash found plugin /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/npwrapper.libflashplayer.so

Here is what I have installed:

nspluginwrapper included in CentOS 5.2 fails completely
I was wondering if anyone else had this problem.
I run CentOS 5.2 x86_64 on my workstation at home. Since 5.2 came out
with nepluginwrapper bundled into it, none of my plugins work. I
thought it was just a problem with the flash plugin, but neither the
mplayerplug-in plugins nor the adobe acrobat reader plugin work,
either.
I have this problem both with the Seamonkey contributed 64-bit build

octave
trying to install octave from epel onto centos 5.2, and getting
dependency errors. only place I could find this RPM was in epel, which
I 'thought' ran on native rhel5/centos5 without requiring any other
repos, but I guess I'm wrong?!?
google tells me libhdf5 is some sot of 'heirarchial data format'
library, whatever that means.
# yum install octave

Missing NSPluginWrapper.in ReleaseNotes for 5.2
Hello,
I just searched the wiki for info about NSPluginWrapper. It's a plugin
for Firefox which creates a kind of bridge between i386-plugins and a
x86_64 browser. That aside...
Well, looking for the string "NSPluginWrapper" and doing a text-search,
the only hit is the Japanese version of the Release Notes!? I don't
understand any of the text, but I interpret that the

nspluginwrapper
As the subject of nspluginwrapper came up recently, it might
be worth mentioning that it's not properly documented.
The README seems to be the official nspluginwrapper README, which, oddly
enough, states that it's used with the command
nspluginwrapper
However, RedHat based systems seem to all use mozilla-config-plugin.
(I'm not sure about other distributions--FreeBSD uses the more

Firfox plugins but no sound
Hello everyone,
I run a 64bit system here and install flash plugins for firefox using
nspluginwrapper. I get the movies but there is no sound.
Flashplayer is: flash-plugin-9.0.48.0-release.i386.rpm
nspluginwrappers are: nspluginwrapper-0.9.91.5-1.x86_64.rpm
nspluginwrapper-i386-0.9.91.5-1.x86_64.rpm
Any help in tracking this down would be great. Thnx.

We recently installed CentOS 7 from DVD.? Our install selection was the
GNOME desktop option. yum update yielded about 465 megabytes of updates
all of which were successful with no warnings.? The multi media option
was not chosen because KDE was listed. GNOME was not apparent in the
software list for the multi media workstation install.

Good things about CentOS 5; problem with flash in seamonkey
I'd like to point out that overall I am quite pleased with CentOS 5,
although I am having more fun with it than I did with 4.4 and I knew
less about CentOS then (duh).
Most things seem to work fine, including a relatively smooth
installation from the DVD image I downloaded, although the number of
screensavers I can see (and this could be related to the ATI/dual head
problem) is pathetically

I have inherited centos 6.3 and 6.2 vms in an esxi environment. When I do

No sound from Adobe flash player 9.0.31 on CentOS 4.4 x86_64
I have the Adobe (Macromedia) flash player installed on my CentOS 4.4 x86_64
system, but when I try to play a flash movie in SeaMonkey (or Firefox -
doesn't matter) I get no sound. I'm using the nspluginwrapper 0.9.91.4 to
make it work at all, but there's no sound.
All my other sound devices/players work just fine, even my Windows guest on
VMWare Server.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Thank you for the great CentOS.
When trying to update from 5.0 to 5.1, I get an error regarding the
centos.plus kernel and headers, "[Errno -1] Package does not match

What'd I do?

fix firefox?
I once had firefox x86_64 installed (because it was the default).
But that one has problems with plugins (flash, java), which are
much easily solved by using the i386 version.
So I unstalled firefox, and installed it again using:
yum install firefox.i386
This worked, and even the plugins worked fine afterwards.
I did have some problems when uninstalling, because yum insisted

Difficulties with Seamonkey plugins on 5.2
Has anyone else noticed this?
I've been running a self-built, working 64-bit version of Seamonkey's
2.01a pre-release (alpha) version for the last six or seven months
(because the "contributed" unofficial 64-bit build didn't work right
and the official 32-bit release crashed all the time), and it's been
working relatively well until recently, particularly in the area of
