lvm with iscsi devices on boot
Hi All, My CentOS 5.1 server is using iSCSI attached disks connecting to a dual controller storage array. I have also configured multipathd to manage the multiple paths. Everything works well, and on boot the dev nodes are automatically created in /dev/mapper. On these devices, I have created logical volumes using lvm2. My problem is that lvm does not recognize these iscsi/multipath volumes on

problems with PV snapshots
Hello, I have a Centos 6.2 clsuter with a CLVM partition on which I have a GFS2 file system. The problem rises when I make a snapshot from my FC NetAPP FAS2020. After I make the snapshot (it is a rw snapshot) of my LUN, I am not able to mount it from any of my cluster nodes, because the Physical Volume is seen two times one time on the standard LVM partition and the other time on the snapshot

LVM-snapshot based KVM VMs
Good m/d/n guys, wanted to put idea through you before trying to implement this. So afaik LVM snapshots basically don't take any "real" space on hard drives. I'm using KVM virtualization on my hosts and let's say i create an LVM volume for my linux VM, then install it properly, shut it down and take LVM snapshot of it. Basically i've just cloned it (LVM2 snapshots are

Can't create mirrored LVM: Insufficient suitable allocatable extents for logical volume : 2560 more required
I'm trying to setup a LVM mirror on 2 iSCS targets, but can't. I have added both /dev/sda & /dev/sdb to the LVM-RAID PV, and both have 500GB space. Samba 3.0.x and Netapp filers
Hi ! Siemens is migrating away from Windows fileservers to Netapp Filers. First I thought great thats cool get rid of some more MS boxes... But now I face troubles connecting to the shares on the filers. Our support states a cite from netapp as: "samba is not compliant with the specs" Could anyone suply me with ammunition to counter that or knows why the netapp does not allow to

[PATCH v2] lvm: support lvm2 older than 2.02.107
lvm2 2.02.107 adds the -S/--select option used in lvs to filter out only public LVs (see RHBZ#1278878). To make this work again with versions of lvm2 older than that, only on old versions filter out thin layouts and compose the resulting device strings ourselves. The filtering done is much simplier than what "-S lv_role=public" will do, but should be good enough for our need. ---

LVM and thin snapshots
Hi , You can also check if BOOM boot manager can work with thin LVM. I really like that feature, since CentOS7.x Best Regards, Strahil NikolovOn Sep 27, 2019 12:39, Georgios <gpdsbe+centos at mailbox.org> wrote: > > Hi there! > > Im new here. > > Im trying to install Centos 8 on my laptop. LVM and thin snapshots
Hi there! Im new here. Im trying to install Centos 8 on my laptop. I also want to have a contingency plan in case something brakes. My first thoughts were to use LVM. The idea is that i would take multiple snapshots of the system during the day/week and will keep them for a short time. I read RHEL documentation about how lvm works and pretty much understand how to manage the above scenario

multi-homed samba PDC and NetApp filers
We are having a problem getting a NetApp filer to re-join a samba domain after a move to a new network. The filer worked fine with samba before the move. Apologies in advance for the long missive. I've tried the following: - re-running the CIFS setup program on the filer - removing the problem filer's samba account, replacing it, and re-running the setup program on the filer

Was this with CentOS3 or 4, ie LVM or LVM2? What problems? We use LVM on all our RH9 setups at work. No problems at all. OTOH, LVM2 is a work in progress that

I don't played much recntly with NetApp filers but as they are supposed to work well with MS AD I expected you don't really needs posixAccount objectClass. So a google search leads me there: https://kb.netapp.com/support/s/article/ka31A0000008hesQAA/how-to-configure-ldap-on-a-filer-to-connect-to-microsoft-s-active-directory-ldap-implementation?language=en_US Perhaps it's not what you

recover lvm from pv
I have a vanilla CentOS 5.9 system. I have a pair of 2Tb sata drives with a RAID 1 array on them. This array contains an LVM physical volume. I have added these two drives to my system and now need to access the volume group on this physical volume. This volume group, vg0, contains 10 ext3 file systems and I need to get the data from them. What do I know: [root at mickey ~]# pvscan PV
