Samba4 internal DNS - can't resolve extrenal hosts
Hello List, I am facing a probelm whereby my Samba4 internal DNS does not resolve external addresses: # host www.google.com Host www.google.com not found: 3(NXDOMAIN) The answer is immediate - so there's no timeout issue here. Internal resolution as described in the wiki to test the Samba AD DNS functions like host -t SRV _kerberos._udp.samba.mydomain.com host -t SRV

IXFR regression in nsd 3.2.9?
We upgraded to NSD 3.2.9 (from 3.2.8) because we encountered the problem "Fix denial of existence response for empty non-terminal that looks like a NSEC3-only domain (but has data below it)." (a nasty problem with DNSSEC). But we now have IXFR issues. On one name server, NSD 3.2.9 works fine, zones are IXFRed and work. On another name server, with much more zones (and big ones), we

Postfix smtp freezing
Hey all, For the last 8 months I have been running a postfix / mail scanner setup based on Johnny Hughes' excellent tutorial. For the firs 7 months I have had no issues. This past month I have been having instances where the user gets an smtp error while trying to send email. Restarting the postfix service is all it takes to resolve this issue. The problem is that it has begun to occur

problem with centos.org whois
It looks like someone pooched a domain transfer, and the whois entry for centos.org is missing its NS records. I've sent an email to the whois tech contact @redhat, but I'm sending this to the list to hopefully bring it to someone else's attention, as well. Hopefully it gets gets out before my mailserver expires its DNS cache for centos.org. Expect centos.org to be offline for a bit

/var partition overflow (due to spyware?) in FreeBSD default install
All: I'm posting this to FreeBSD-security (rather than FreeBSD-net) because the problems I'm seeing appear to have been caused by spyware, and because they constitute a possible avenue for denial of service on FreeBSD machines with default installs of the operating system. Several of the FreeBSD machines on our network began to act strangely during the past week. Some have started to

voip-info.org DNS seems broken
For the last few days I can not resolve voip-info.org from many DNS servers. It does resolve with some DNS servers but I suspect it may be related more to caching. Cannot call to my server with SIP
Hello, I cannot call my server over the internet with SIP anymore. Even when I do a maximum logging on my firewall, I don't see packets coming from outside. I've tried it from an ekiga.net account and an sip2sip.info account. What could be wrong? I would expect incoming traffic on port 5060 UDP... The account is "paul at vandervlis.nl". This should connect trought DNS to the

Mail delivery failing with 450
I'm not sure why this started, but apparently I'm having a DNS problem. Yesterday mail started bouncing with this error: 450 Unable to find obrien-pifer.com I think the messages eventually get delivered, but not sure. I guess I'll see if this one makes the list. I checked my domain using http://www.checkdns.net/ and it gives me a couple warnings. One is that there's no MX
