DHCP problem with virtual interfaces
Hello, After asking around in #centos and other linux related IRC channels, here I am, bugging all of you. brace for the long post. (tldr: dhclient loses virtual interface ips) I set up a system to deploy statically assigned IPs to physical and virtual interfaces to a number of (virtual) machines. I have a DHCPD with an entry for each virtual ip in the form of host eth0-1.virt1.test.it {

CentOS-6 dhcpd
I've installed CentOS-6 on my server (in parallel to CentOS-5.6) and now I'm trying to set up dhcpd. I'm not sure if there has been a change in dhcpd under CentOS-6, but I'm getting the dreaded message "Not configured to listen on any interfaces!" when I "sudo service dhcpd restart". I realise now that I have never known how the connection between interface

dhcp lease time hardware in script at dhcpd/Bind/Samba wiki page
There seems to be a slight issue with the instructions at the following wiki page: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_DHCP_to_update_DNS_records_with_BIND9 The /usr/local/bin/dhcp-dyndns.sh script seems to use a hardwired value for the lease expiry time of 3600 - independent of whatever is configured in dhcpd.conf. With the examples provided, it should work, as the example dhcpd.conf

Client machine cannot acquire the IP from dhcp server
Hi, syslinux: I use pxelinux to install Linux from network. Currently, my problem is: The first time, the client machine can acquire the IP address from dhcp server but at the second time, the client machine cannot acquire the IP again. The only way is to remove the /var/lib/dhcp/dhcpd.leases file in server and restart the dhcpd service. Then the client machine can get the IP again.

Restricting dhcpd to an interface
I want to run dhcpd on my notebook to support test systems connecting on a separate interfaces. I have looked at both the dhcpd and dhcpd.conf man pages and did not find an 'interface' option. I will have 3 interfaces on my notebook. One for the notebooks network access and two for test systems. I want to serve different subnets on each of those interfaces, and have not figured

Question about dhcpd.leases
Hi, I'm running a DHCP server on my local network. I've noticed something that puzzles me. Leases are written to /var/lib/dhcpd/dhcpd.leases, but only - so it seems to me - if the address is not fixed in any way in dhcpd.conf. Here's a few stanzas of my dhcpd.conf : host babasse { hardware ethernet 00:0d:61:ae:6b:8f; fixed-address 192.168.1.1; option

Samba , dhcp, wins on Solaris 2.x
Hi All I have a samba server running on solaris 2.5.1. On the same machine there is a ISC dhcpd server which is configured to supply all the tcp/ip information to the NT Clients dynamically (ip, wins, domainname, dns, router etc.). So my NT Clients get only a name and are configured to get their tcp/ip information from the dhcpd server. Now, everything runs fine browsing, NetBios name
