Problems with USB-serial converters -- please advise on code fix
Hello!
I've ran into this annoying issue when setting up a new server. I have an APC
SmartUPS hooked up on a USB-serial converter on /dev/ttyUSB0.
This works nicely, until:
hub 3-0:1.0: port 1 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling...
pl2303 ttyUSB0: pl2303 converter now disconnected from ttyUSB0
usb 3-1: pl2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB1

USB and serial
Hello, everyone -
I have an old Windows app - a ship navigation program - that needs to
see GPS input on a serial port (it was written in the pre-USB days.) My
laptop, however, has no serial ports - but this same program, when run
on a friend's Windows box, can read the GPS info from the USB-connected
GPS via the "USB-Serial Driver". This is one of the frustrating bits of

can't connect to an Eaton Powerware 9155 over a usb-serial adapter
hello everyone,
I've been testing the NUT solution as opposed to the undocumented LanSafe
application to control my Eaton UPS.
I am on a Slackware 13.37 system with a 2.6.37.6 kernel. NUT version is
2.4.3 .
I installed the tarball by compiling it directly on my system (as a
slackbuild package).
The UPS is an Eaton Powerware 9155, but I don't know how to obtain the
manufacturing date. The

Help with USB-to-serial cable
I am trying to use software to program a scanner radio (BCD396t and UASD software). The software installs and seems to run properly, reading and writing database files. But I cannot connect to the scanner, through a USB-to-serial cable.
OS: ubuntu-8.10, kubuntu-8.10, debian/lenny (tried them all)
lsusb identifies the cable as follows:

FE700VA over USB? controlling UPSes over network?
Lately I replaced my 10+-year-old server with a nano-ITX-type one
that has USB but not old serial ports. I connected my FE700VA to
DB25-to-9-to-USB cables, but haven't been able to set it up. Apparently
my DB9-to-USB cable (Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial Port) has
issues needing old software (setserial?) and some new software
(fconfigure) being changed. Has anyone managed

Belkin F6H650 on USB port
Hi,
is there a way to use my Belkin F6H650 on the USB port?
I already installed usbhid-support, but neither the hidups worked (reports
"/dev/usb/hiddev0 is not a UPS") nor genericups with upstype=7 and the
hiddev set as device ("ioctl TIOCMSET: Invalid argument") worked.
I have installed the debian sarge package of nut 2.0.1 (2.0.1-4)

Feature suggestion - USB Debug
Hello, on my journey to debug some things i stumbled over this. Perhaps this could be usefull.
just a suggestion for a feature to implement: EHCI Debug Port
As more and more pc?s are legacy free.. so no serial port for debuging, this could be interesting,
http://www.coreboot.org/EHCI_Debug_Port
It is already used in the linux kernel and there is also a linux module that acts as a

2.6.31 xenified kernel - not ready for production
Hi,
I just want to know if somebody use 2.6.31.4 xenified kernel (aka
OpenSUSE) in production?
We have been testing it on new Nehalem Xeon server for few weeks w/o
any problem.
But as soon we tried it on production machine - after several
production domUs started - hard OS failure.
We had to switch back to 2.6.18.8 - xen stock kernel.

HandBrakeCLI crashes when converting
Hello!
At first, i want to run the latest HandBrake (version 0.93) on a Mac with Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger).
The problem is, that Handbrake is developed for Mac OS 10.5 (XCode SDK is not compatible to Mac OS 10.4 one).
So i decided to try it with wine/darwine.
Because wine is better supported on Linux and you can get easier newer version (apt-get), i decided to run HandBrakeCLI.exe on Debian Etch

[PATCH] disable nonblocking mode on serial port
Hi,
I got a new Cyberpower 1500AVR UPS and nut wouldn't work. It failed
to detect the UPS and a strace showed that all writes to the serial
port were failing with -EAGAIN. The attached patch disabled
nonblocking mode on the serial port and now it works fine.
Is there a reason the port was put in non-blocking mode? There's no
code I could find to deal with the inevitable -EAGAIN that

NUT + OpenBSD + dc2500cc + APC Smart-UPS SC620 = problem
Hi,
I am trying to set up NUT on a mini-ITX system running OpenBSD 5.5.
I have an APC Smart-UPS SC620 which runs perfectly well on Ubuntu,
with nut-2.2.1. Ubuntu system uses ASUS motherboard.
On mini-ITX system, I have Intel d2500cc motherboard with 4 serial ports.
I've tested ports by connecting them with a null-modem cable and running cu
