Bug: Loosing Group Permissions in Archive Mode with Sticky Bit and ACL Mask
Hello,
I currently try to copy a directory locally between two ext4 filesystems
while preserving permissions and ACLs using the -aAX options. Under some
conditions, rsync does not copy the posix permissions completely, it
changes the group::rwx to a group::--- permission. The latest rsync
available on Debian Jessie is 3.1.1, but the changelog for 3.1.2 and 3.1.3
did not seem to mention such a bug

Yes, and no.
Yes, its a bug.
No, in my opionion its an old setting thats just needs some updating.
Try this.
samba-tool ntacl set

Samba 3 ACL's not Shown for Directories
Hello,
Sorry if this is a dumb question,
But my search with Google didn't end in helpful results
(maybe i used the wrong words for search) ;-)
I use samba 3 on a Redhat 8 box.
My clients are WintNT, Win2k and WinXP systems.
I want to have ACL to simulate NTFS Security for my clients.
This works without problems for files,
But not for directories.
When i create directories and have a look at

Computer Management - Share Security - No Read Access
I'm getting an inkling on the problem.
In my OLD WinNT style Domain setup, I copies all my
files to another windows machine. I then setup the
new server and once I established a connection which
I thought was stable, I copied all the files back
to the new server on the AD Domain.
I strongly suspect that the problem has to do with
the resulting ACLs and permissions from copying between

acl permissions not staying
Hi guys,
I've got a problem where if I set permissions on a folder(Admin)
"setfacl -R -d -m u::rwx,g::wrx,o::- Admin/" and "setfacl -m o:- Admin"
I get the following.
mail:/data/samba/shared # getfacl Admin/
# file: Admin
# owner: BCP+administrator
# group: samba
user::rwx
user:samba:rwx
group::rwx
group:BCP+admin:r-x
mask::rwx
other::---

Cannot change directory permissions
Hi Rowland,
sorry, I hit the wrong reply button in the last answer.
So there is no other way than to use Windows ACLs?
I was told with our old systems (Samba 3 in non-domain mode) the behaviour I want to achieve was possible when only using ugo.
Greetings,
Felix

XFS-ACL-Samba: Trouble adding acls
Hi,
I recently tried to use ACLs with samba. XFS is running, I can set ACLs
using setfacl and read them with getfacl, no problem so far. Samba
compiled fine with '--with-acl-support'.
Now I set up a share with 'nt acl support = yes', put there a file and
added an acl with 'setfacl':
root@edjo[ACLTEST]# getfacl datei.txt
# file: datei.txt
# owner: odenbach
