Should I update to DRBD 82?
Hello,
This morning I noticed the following output from "yum update":
Installing:
drbd82 x86_64 8.2.5-1.el5.centos extras
209 k
replacing drbd.x86_64 8.0.11-1.el5.centos
As far as I'm aware DRBD works fine for me. Is there a way I can find out
about the new release and weather I should upgrade?
I can't figure out the CentOS issue tracking system

Unable to use DRBD after a reboot
Hi,
I have two servers in a drbd primary/secondary setup. Everything was fine
until I had to reboot both servers.
The primary rebooted first, the secondary assumed fine, but when the (old
primary) server got back online it was unable to mount the drbd fs
complaining about the modules.
I've tried to find out the problem but the servers seem to have the same
setup

Problems loading drbd after upgrade
Hi,
I've upgrade the kernel to the latest version (C5) and after the update the
drbd is not being loaded at reboot time.
My previous running kernel was 2.6.18-164.el5.
I've checked the /lib/modules/ and
/lib/modules/2.6.18-164.10.1.el5/weak-updates/drbd82/drbd.ko ->
/lib/modules/2.6.18-164.el5/extra/drbd82/drbd.ko
And /lib/modules/2.6.18-164.el5/extra/drbd82/drbd.ko exists

upcoming DRBD updates in CentOS Extras for CentOS 4 and 5
Ralph Angenendt, Fabian Arrotin, Akemi Yagi and I have been working on
new DRBD packages for CentOS Extras.
We have some packages that have been tested in the testing repository.
LinBit has discontinued their 8.2 tree, so drbd83 will replace drbd82 in
both CentOS 4 and CentOS 5 extras.
DRBD 0.7.25 will remain in CentOS 4, however it gets no upstream support
and I would recommend you upgrade to

Unexplained reboots in DRBD82 + OCFS2 setup
We're trying to setup a dual-primary DRBD environment, with a shared
disk with either OCFS2 or GFS. The environment is a Centos 5.3 with
DRBD82 (but also tried with DRBD83 from testing) .
Setting up a single primary disk and running bonnie++ on it works.
Setting up a dual-primary disk, only mounting it on one node (ext3) and
running bonnie++ works

Hi !
Not very blocking because the smp module loads perfectly.

Please test kmod packages for CentOS-4
Hello,
There are currently 3 kmod packages in CentOS-4 that require
re-installation upon each kernel update:
kmod-drbd
kmod-drbd82
kmod-xfs
CentOS is going to offer a kernel-independent version of these kmod
packages. With this version, you install once, and they should
survive kernel updates. They are in the testing repository at the
moment and need to be tested before they can be made

Missing latest kmod-xfs and kmod-drbd82?
Since December there have been several kernel updates to the centosplus
repository for centos4... but no updates to kmod-xfs or kmod-drbd82.
Latest kernel is 2.6.9-78.0.13.plus.c4, but latest kmod-xfs is
2.6.9_78.0.5.plus.c4. Latest drbd82 kmod is also for 78.0.5.
I know there was a mention on the list that these modules are not kernel
dependent anymore... but yum and rpm seem to indicate

kmod-drbd
hi, I was following this wiki http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Ha-Drbd for
my CentOS 5 installation, but it appears that the kmod-drdb is not for
the newest kernel. Would anyone know how long before this is updated?

Any idea when we will have updated kmod-drbd82 rpm for the latest kernel?
Hi,
After searching the archive I found one post (last october) complaining
about lack of kmod-drbd2 rpm for the lastest kernels. Almost two months
have passed and no sign of the rpm I was wondering if the mantainer has some
news about it.
Thanks.

drbd82 RPMS for testing
All,
There are drbd82 RPMS for CentOS-4 and CentOS-5 (i386 and x86_64) for
testing here:
http://people.centos.org/~hughesjr/drbd/
These are designed to be able to live in the same repository as the
current STABLE versions.
These RPMS are designed as CONFLICTS and not upgrades as there may be
some manual actions to upgrade, especially on CentOS-4.
Here is an article on the upgrade process:

re-installing a package without removing it?
Hello,
I've just noticed that the file /etc/ha.d/resource.d/drbddisk, which
belongs to package drbd-8.0.6-1.el5.centos, is missing from one of my
test machines:
# rpm --verify drbd
S.5....T c /etc/drbd.conf
missing /etc/ha.d/resource.d/drbddisk
I'm looking at this as an opporunity to learn something about RPM
which bugged me for a while - in Debian, aptitude and apt-get provide

Please Update Extras Repo?!
Is there any reason the "extras" repo hasn't been updated in a while? Modules like kmod-xfs and kmod-drbd/kmod-drbd82 are frequently used and haven't been updated for the latest kernel. Powerdns is two months behind the critical security update to 2.9.21.1.
If you're going to provide the extras repo as a default CentOS repository, then it MUST be given the same attention

Replacement for Linux-HA (heartbeat) - RedHat cluster?
Hello,
I'm beginning to give up on making Linux-HA's heartbeat work for my
environment (CentOS x86_64) and am wondering what other option have I got to
help me:
1. Use IPVS to maintain a cluster of virtual servers, either master/slave or
load-balanced.
2. Use DRBD in master/slave fashion to keep a home-grown application
highly-available.
The first thing I stumbled upon is RedHat Cluster

xen+drbd Question
Hi list,
I installed two new servers to be our virtualization HA. This servers
have CentOS 5.2, Xen 3.0.3, Drbd 8.2.6. The setup is ok, lvm drbd
resources sincronizing, Guest VM running without any problem.
My only doubt is that I can only use drbd resources inside guest vms
when I specify the disk resource in vms config like this:
disk = ['phy:/dev/VolGroup00/vappprtem01,hda,w' ]
