Centos 5.2 upgrade - urlopen error unknown url type: media
My first notebook upgrade:
I repaired my old HP nc4010 (bought a new hinge on ebay) and realized
this was the perfect way to test out the upgrade to 5.2 before doing it
on my production notebook.
First I updated to 'current' 5.1 (by current I mean I have not synced my
5.1 local repo since building my 5.2 repo). I had not used my nc4010
for a while and the kernel was at

Problem with local base repo
Last night my rsync got some 'new' files for the base repo and new repodata.
This morning, I set a server to upgrade from 5 to 5.1 by setting it to
access my local base and updates repos. I got the following error:
Resolving Dependencies
--> Populating transaction set with selected packages. Please wait.
---> Downloading header for openssh-clients to pack into transaction set.

about add/remove software
In the documentation, it says that add/remove software is use only to install
from CD drive[1]. However this program refuse to run when no internet
connection, why not just prompt for the installation media? assuming
everybody has fast internet connection was too optimistic.
1. So what is the correct way to install/remove software after the
installation (using GUI)?

CentOS5 beta installed
I have just successfully installed CentOS5 beta from CDs. No major issues
so far, but it is still too fresh to say anything. The machine I used is
peculiar. By peculiar I mean it won't boot if I use grub (this is a long
story by itself). So, I manually installed lilo to boot the system. The
only problem is that I could not use kdump. It produced an error saying

yum can't connect to mirrors
Hello,
I added rpmforge yum repo to my yum config and then the box couldn't
connect to fetch updates. I added enabled=0 to rpmforge.repo as well as
add-ons, contrib, and centosplus, but i'm still getting mirror errors. I
believe i've got some file corruption somewhere, but i don't see where. I
can't even fetch packages in updates now, keep getting connection refused

EPEL not working ... is it just me?
This is very strange - has been happening the last few days. I just
upgraded this system from 5.3 to 5.7 on Monday and the problem started some
time after that (but not immediately because I know I used yum Monday
evening after the upgrade)
I get the following error from yum, but it goes away if I --disablerepo=epel
The funny thing is that the listed xml file I can easily wget from this

yum-updatesd not working on CentOS 5.2
Dear Srs,
yum-updatesd-0.9-2.el5 appears that it's not working on freshly
installed CentOS 5.2, using:
# rpm -qa "yum*"
yum-metadata-parser-1.1.2-2.el5
yum-updatesd-0.9-2.el5
yum-3.2.8-9.el5.centos.2.1
yum-fastestmirror-1.1.10-9.el5.centos
I see some bugs ([1], [2] and [3]) in the bug tracker, and more info
related to other distros like Fedora, etc.. with the same problem.
