SPNEGO NTLMSSP failure
Hi,
The cifs client that I am working on is having some problem with SPNEGO/NTLMSSP. Session Setup AndX is failing in the last exchange of NTLMSSP. The error I am getting is 0xC00000D(STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER). I am also seeing the following message in the log
"spnego_parse_auth(466) spnego_auth_parse failed at 7. "
I am using Heimdal library to generate SPNEGO/NTLMSSP messages.

File lock recovery
Hi,
I am having some issues with lock recovery.
If a client gets powered off after acquiring an exclusive lock on a file, the Windows server grants the file lock to a second client within 2 minutes. However, the Samba server (version Samba 3.0.28-0.el5.8) that I am having does not look to be detecting the dead client and so, a second client is not getting the lock on the same file even if it

AD Integration woes - rfc2307 data not being honored
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Tikanga) - x86_64
Samba - 3.0.28-0.el5.8
Objective: To have samba authenticate against AD and utilize the values set for the AD rfc2307 schema.
Problem: Values stored in AD are not being used.
The samba server has successfully joined the AD, but when I do a getent passwd | grep <user> the uid, none of the values returned match what is stored in

Winbind lookup performance
Redhat 5.2 x86_64
samba-3.0.28-0.el5.8
My system is fully AD integrated, the only issue I have is that when I look up a users group (id, groups, etc.) it takes forever.? This is causing issues due to the fact that I have pam policies in place to allow only users from a specific groups to log in, sudo and/or su.? When the cache expires, it can take over 2 minutes to perform the lookup.? I'm

Broken upgrade to 5.2
Hello all,
I was upgrading a CentOS 5.1 box to 5.2 remotely, and I lost my ssh
connection to the server. Now when I rerun the "yum upgrade" it fails
due to conflicts in the transaction check stage. Before I dig myself a
deeper hole, I think I need advice. The original error I received was a
conflict between python-devel and python, so I erased python-devel with
the plan to

Samba reporting only ~4G on a much larger filesystem
I tried this on the IRC channel and got not response...
I have a 2.2TB filesystem. The filesystem itself is a stornext (Quantum) filesystem, which in the /etc/fstab is type cvfs.
When a client mounts the samba share, it only reports ~4GB (3.9 or 3.7 GB) total space. We have a third party app, which will/can not be updated which checks the disk space available and fails if it's not enough.

Another getent problem
I have set up a system to be a member server and installed the samba
rpms. I then copied over the samba config file and changed it to
reflect the new shares and name change. I ran 'net rpc join -
UAdministrator%'secret' and I was able to join the domain.
Started up smb and then winbind
wbinfo -u
and I can see the users in the domain
getent passwd
shows nothing but the users in

Any Known Share limitations or performance issues with large file systems
All,
I am running samba-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1.x86_64.rpm on RHEL 5 x64. I am sharing out approximately 7TB via samba and a 'few' of my users are complaining of latency when accessing their shares via Windows Explorer. Mind you the disk is about 93% full which I am sure is a factor but before I go into battle I wanted to make sure there were no known limitations or issues.
Thanks in

Different "printer preference dialog" between windows and samba

OS: CentOS 5.2
Samba: Samba 3.0.28-1.el5_2.1
Printer: HP LaserJet P2105n

I setup a linux print server for windows clients.
First I downloaded the printer drivers for windows from HP website (both the
Universal Printer Driver PCL6 and the PCL6 driver for P2105 series), and
installed them on my windows client, then it created a local printer

Missing update announcements for C4 i386 / x86_64
Hi,
the latest updates for perl, xorg-x11, net-snmp, openoffice.org for C4
were announced for the ia64 and s390(x) archs, but not for i386 and
x86_64 altough they are available on the updates mirrors.
Also, what is the policy for announcements of updates that occurred
after the C5.2 release? I see them on the update mirrors. Shouldn't
these update be also announced independently from the C5.2

ACL
Hi samba group,
I'm trying to get samba to act like Windows in the Security tab (to be able
to add, remove, and modify ACLs on certain files/folders). We are running
Centos 5.2 (2.6.18-92.1.22.el5) with XFS installed for the /share partition.
I currently have these versions of samba installed:
samba-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1
samba-common-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1
I am pretty sure the ACL is all

Let me start off by apologizing for this rambling post. I have been working on this problem all day and have not gotten anywhere.
This is my first time working with samba and I have been tasked to set up a share that does not require a password for access. I have been tinkering with the configuration file but I cannot get it to work. Here is my current smb.conf file that I have:

Problem with Samba DFS and Active Directory/XP
Hi,
Samba version 3.0.28 from RPM samba-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1 on Scientific
Linux 5. Although I'm finding this problem with samba 3.0.33 and a few
others I've randomly tried.
Full experiment here: http://xweb.geos.ed.ac.uk/~fgibbins/DFS-tests.txt
I've got an AD joined samba server which exports a share to an AD
joined XP machine, same M$ 2003 AD in both cases. This share is

Samba spawning excessive smbd processes.
Hi,
We're running Samba (3.0.28-1.el5_2.1) on a Redhat (5.2) server using
winbind to authenticate against a Windows AD.
This all worked fine for a while. But now we have the problem that
(some) users coming from Linux clients cause an excessive amount of smbd
processes. We had 1 user who had more than 1700 smbd processes all
coming from the same client. While on the client side there
