Torrent tracker for CentOS v5.3 working properly?
Hi, Is the tracker for the 5.3-release working properly? The only torrent I see actually downloading is CentOS-5.3-i386-bin-1to6. The other three for the i386 DVD and ditto for x86_64 (cd+dvd) are just sitting there. The availability and the number of connected peers in the swarm for each torrent is rather high though. Do torrent downloads work from a single tracker at centos.org, or are those

No DVD Mirrors - Only Torrent
I love Centos. Have in on my data centre servers, my home servers, my laptop and my netbook. Yes there are serious and continuing security concerns relating to Gnome and KDE but they are not Centos. Currently running 5.6 and would like a two set DVD of that version. However none of the mirrors offer pure DVDs only Torrent versions which involve the possibility of bits being tampered with and

Hi, I have a machine with a BIOS that does not permit DVD installation. It accepts everything else including some old superseded media types. Is it possible to download C6 combined parts 1 and 2 not using Torrent ? I have an aversion to using anything that comes from unknown sources, as used by Torrent. Thank you. -- Regards, Paul. Centos Guys: Any estimate of recent torrent savings?
Just wondering if the community has any stats available from the tracker showing savings from torrent (up|down)loads. I'm seeing *lots* of activity on the live CD. Between that and the two CentOS releases I'm sharing (4 DVD & 1-4, 5 DVD & 1-6) my current session has sent out about 20.3GB. Since I started using it regularly, I think I've sent >= 0.4TB. If some really good

Can't connect to torrent tracker
Well, yesterday my 5.1 and 4.6 systems could connect to torrent.centos.org OK. Today neither system can connect. I can ping, but that's all. No changes were made to the firewall during this time. Any tips on debugging this? I successfully http downloaded all the ISO images from various mirrors this morning, so I think my net and firewall are OK. TIA -- Bill

Torrent traffic priority 3. My distro is Fedora Core 4, and the torrent protocol does not appear in /etc/protocols. The only protocol is TCP, which HTTP and SMTP is built on top

Don't forget to use torrents for your downloads!
For those who may forget, usin torrents to download and share the new images will get you faster downloads (if enough folks participate) if you have a "fat" pipe and alleviate the load on the CentOS servers. I have a "chubby" pipe (~ 1.2MB/sec) and got the stuff really quickly earlier today. If your torrent has distributed hash table capability, I suggest that you also use

Torrent: reminder to use it folks!
Well, there's so few going right now that I'm showing 38 days to get the DVD. My normal dnld from a mirror travels appx. 600Mb/sec. I'll wait until most of the U.S. goes home before I give up and use the normal download though. Here's hoping... -- Bill
