CPU Model detection with virsh capabilities
Hello everybody,
I am a new user discovering libvirt with KVM software. During my first
VM creation, I saw an issue with virsh that I can't understand.
I wanted to emulate another CPU than the classical qemu32 using virsh.
So I used the virsh capabilites command to detect how is detected my CPU
host which is an Intel Xeon E5410 and my problem is that this CPU is
detected only with the

Hi,
I am Wojtek Pilorz (username "Wojtek Pilorz").
I would like to discuss whether my method of creating Centos DVD image

Would it be appropriate if I send scripts I use with method
description a mail to the list for consideration?
What I have is method for recreating bit-for-bit identical

Crash with qemu install: 5.2 as host and 5.2 as guest
Hi, I'm trying to install a CentOS 5.2 guest with virt-manager/qemu on a
CentOS 5.2 system (X86_x64, 3ware 9650SE, 2 x Intel VT capable xeon
cpus, 8 GB)
Unfortunately I'm getting a crash in the guest install process. Other
systems are installing smoothely, even Windows xp, but the above
combination won't install. What works, too: CentOS 5.2 xen unmodified
(i.e. fully virtual) guest,

HELP: Dose G.729 with IPP only worked on Intel CPU?
Hi, ALL:
I install IPP(l_ipp_ia32_itanium_p_4_1_2.tar) and download the speech codeing
(l_ipp-sample-speech-coding_p_4.1.008.tgz) then patch it (g729-041103.diff).
My CPU is Centaur VIA Nehemiah with 998.715 MHz processor not INTEL CPU.
I choose PIII as its CPU type when I modify Makefile under "G729-float".
# For PIII

Well, if what you want is auto-detection, turning on -march=pentium3
means that the code will crash on anything lower than a pentium3. Not
really useful. Of course,

Pretty complicated because of some annoying decisions taken by the gcc
team. The problem is that gcc won't let you use

theora MMX decoder
I try to merge VP3's mmx decoder into theora.
http://kyoto.cool.ne.jp/vp3/developers/theora-alpha3-MMXd-src.zip
You can see the change by searching the keyword "_UsingMMX_" in all lib
folder's file.

Kernel panic installing CentOS 5.2 in Parallels on iMac
I'm unable to get much past the "boot:" prompt in the installer. The
panic appears to be in powernowk8_init which according to
http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2008-0612.html has a recently-fixed
null-pointer dereference. That errata is from August 4; the latest
CentOS install ISOs are from June.
I tried the agp=off suggestion from e.g.

compiler options for xen
I use gentoo on xen, in the gentoo docs (gentoo compiles everything
almost) they have options like ''-march=pentium3'' should i be using
the gcc option for the cpu im using (pentium3), I understand that
domU''s and even dom0''s speak the "XEN" arch, so could using cpu
specific flags like this cause problems? what are other xen+gentoo
users using

[LLVMdev] lli: problem finding external symbol
Hi, I have a large-ish application I'm trying to build with LLVM, so I
replaced g++ in the Makefiles with llvm-g++. This appears to work fine
when I pass -Wl,-native to generate an ELF executable, but I want to
control the inlining threshold it uses, so I am now passing
-Wl,-disable-inlining and -Wa,-disable-inlining, and having it
generate LLVM bytecode, then running opt -inlining to generate

Audio problems on Zap & SIP, local network, not IRQ related?
I am trying to get to the bottom of audio clicks, pops, dropouts with my
Asterisk server. These occur even when the system is under minimal load
(e.g. 1 Zap device in a queue being played music on hold) and occurs with
both Zap and Sip devices so isn't network related. The audio problems occur
at the same time on all channels and seems to be when Asterisk "gets busy"
and uses

openssh-3.4p1.tar.gz on ftp.openbsd.org changing rather than frozen
I have seen that file
ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/portable/openssh-3.4p1.tar.gz
is continuosly changing.
This seems strange to me as I expected it should be a 'frozen' file;
The signature and diff file are still dated Jun 26.
I am wondering whether this is intentional.

Noob question regarding PCI 2.x & TDM400P Card
I have some old PC's I want to build as a test box - It's up and running
OK now. Now I installed a TDM400P and there is nothing I can do to get
the card to come up. My guess is the box is not PCI 2.2 compliant or
does it need to be to see the card?
Thanks, Bart

sleep 20&exit hangs on Linux
Dear All,
Let me quote a few lines from TODO file (SNAP-20010109):
- Linux hangs for 20 seconds when you do "sleep 20&exit". All current
solutions break scp or leaves processes hanging around after the ssh
connection has ended. It seems to be linked to two things. One
select() under Linux is not as nice as others, and two the children
of the shell are not killed on
