[C6] Some typical apps missing?
Hi everyone! :-)
I just installed CentOS 6 on one of my desktop machines, and yum now
tells me that some of my favorite apps are not present in any of the
repositories I configured. To name a few: ktorrent, kile, krusader,
pavucontrol, mplayerplug-in (or is it now gecko-mediaplayer), xine,
xmms, and so on... All these apps were readily available for C5, and I
used them happily.
I am mostly

OT: Bittorrent clients
Hi all,
Just switched my home computer from Windows 7 to CentOS 6.6 and I'm having a slight bit of trouble with the bittorrent-clients.
* Transmission is fine but lacks "a bit" in features.
* Vuze is my preferred bt-client but gives me horrendous gfx-artifacts, like not showing the torrent name (it's white text on a white background or some such...).
* Deluge is better, and

Cannot get rtorrent to run
If I'm writing about this in the wrong place, please let me know. However,
when I
uninstalled rtorrent and then re-installed it, I kept getting this very
same error:
$ rtorrent foobar.torrent
rtorrent: symbol lookup error: rtorrent: undefined symbol:

How to fight with encrypted p2p
Hi
I believe that whole question is in topic.
Is there any way to recognize ( and then shape ) p2p traffic which is encrypted?
Modern p2p clients have this ability moreover some of them have this enabled by default.
Now I''m using ipp2p for iptables but as I know this doesn''t recognize encrypted traffic.
Thanks in advance.

Extending metainfo class
Hi,
I`ve still posted this comment on comp.lang.ruby and after that I found
this list ;)
I`ve had some problems with a .torrent file because of unknown fields.
The file was created with: BitComet/0.56
So, I extended the metainfo class like this:

Upgrade from Centos 4.4 to Centos 5
Hi,
Is there a yum way to upgrade from CentOS 4.4 to CentOS 5?
Or I just need to download the installation CDs and upgrade using
them, as I did many times with Fedora.
best regards,

yum cannot find bittorent rpm at dag
I am trying to get the x86_64 isos of CentOS-5.2. I wish to use
bittorrent. The last time that I did this I required the bittorent
package from Dag's repository. I have configured
/etc/yum.repos.d/DagWieers.repo thus:

Completely isolating P2P/BitTorrent traffic
Hi all,
I''m tring to isolate P2P traffic, specifically BitTorrent, for my QoS
scripts. I can''t seem to completely isolate ALL BitTorrent traffic.
I identify & mark packets and then use tc filters to put them into
appropriate classes. My firewall rules (below) do the markings. My VoIP
boxes'' and ICMP traffic get highest priority (mark 1). Then comes DNS, SSH,

Hey All,
Can someone suggest a bit torrent application for CentOS 6.4 along with
the name of the repo where it resides.
Add/Remove Software, and several google attempts, have come up empty.

Testing preRelease 0.3
Hi all,
I?ve updated my local repository with version from 05/01/26 0:00 CET
My test - torrent is very active, so Azureus gets an average download of
40kb/s after a few seconds running, and up to 90kb/s after two minutes.
Rubytorrent has not even 1 piece after fifteen minutes. It gets
connected to 12 or 15 peers but the download ratio is always below
2kb/s. From my point of view there is a

CentOS 5 and bittorrent
Folks. This is likely to be the hardest hit CentOS has ever taken with
regards to bandwidth needs.
I was really hesitant to use bittorrent for this type of thing for a
long time. However, it really is nice to give back at least what you
take. At the moment, I'm seeing almost 3000 connections to the torrent.
That times 3.5 gigs is a pretty huge chunk of data... and it has just begun.

How do I link to custom libs without affecting system libs (LD_LIBRARY_PATH)
Hi, i am getting an issue with rtorrent that is related to my curl libaries.
In summary it requires a later curl libary than CentOS 5.4 uses for its system files (CentOS uses curl libs version 7.15.5, rtorrent requires 7.19.2 or greater).
To get around this I would like to download the latest curl version and compile and link to rtorrent without affecting system files.
How can i statically

Windows XP SP2, Azureus, and Samba
Trying again.
Has anyone seen this issue:
I just upgraded to Windows XP SP2 and now I am having problems :(
I have Fedora Core 2 with the latest updates installed. The Samba RPM
version is 3.0.3-5.
The problem I am having is using Azureus and the Samba share. Before
SP2 everything worked fine saving locally and on the Samba server.
Now, after SP2, I am getting messages like this from

Media check problems
Dear community
I've just noticed that the CentOS 4.0 ISO's I downloaded from
ftp.sunsite.org.uk fails the media check on installation. All four
fail. The md5 checks pass and I've done 5 full installations from the
set of failed cd's and no problems what so ever. I never bothered to
do the media check untill a friend asked me what it does...
The installation works, wonder what the
