Multipath w/ iscsi
I have several CentOS 6 boxes that mount iscsi based luns and use mpath.
They all had problems shutting down as a result of unused maps not getting
flushed as the system halted.
After examining the init scripts, netfs, iscsi and multipathd all had the correct
order but mpath failed to flush these maps and the system waited indefinitely.
In the meantime I hacked this by adding a `/sbin/multipath

dm-multipath use
Are folks in the Centos community succesfully using device-mapper-multipath?
I am looking to deploy it for error handling on our iSCSI setup but there
seems to be little traffic about this package on the Centos forums, as far
as I can tell, and there seems to be a number of small issues based on my
reading the dm-multipath developer lists and related resources.

disk device lvm iscsi questions ....
Hi,
I have an iscsistorage which I attached to a new centos 6.3 server. I
added logic volumes as usual, the block devices (sdb & sdc) showed up in
dmesg; I can mount and access the stored files.
Now we did an firmware software update to that storage (while
unmounted/detached from the fileserver) and after reboot of the storage
and reatache the iscsi nodes I do get new devices. (sdd &

Basic shared storage + KVM
Hi,
I am trying to set up a shared iscsi storage to serve 6 kvm hypervisors
running centos 6.2.
I export an LVM from iscsi and configured virt-manager to see the iscsi
space as LVM storage (a single storage pool).
I can create space on this LVM storage pool directly from virt-manager
and I am already running a couple of sample VMs, that do migrate from
one hv to the other.
This configuration

libvirt does not recognize all devices in iscsi and mpath pools in a predictable manner
Hi,
I'm using libvirt 0.8.3 on Fedora 14 (as I wrote earlier, I'm having some
trouble updating to the newest version), and I'm having problems getting iscsi
and mpath storage pools to work in a usable and consistent manner.
I have two storage pools defined on the host machine, one for raw iscsi-
devices and one for those same iscsi devices device-mapped by multipath. They

xen randomly crashes all VMs hosted on iSCSI NAS array
I inherited a xen server that is setup to have all the VM images hosted on
an iSCSI mounted NAS array. We been experiencing a random (about every 2-3
days) issue where xen would crash all the VMs, leaving nothing but the
Domain0 running. What appears to be happening is something causes the iSCI
mount to hiccup. Running "vgchange -a y" and restarting all the VMs brings
everything up.

can't mount an LVM volume inCentos 5.10
I have a degraded raid array (originally raid-10, now only two drives)
that contains an LVM volume. I can see in the appended text that the
Xen domains are there but I don't see how to mount them. No doubt this
is just ignorance on my part but I wonder if anyone would care to
direct me? I want to be able to retrieve dom-0 and one of the dom-Us
to do data recovery, the others are of

kernel: blk_cloned_rq_check_limits: over max segments limit., Device Mapper Multipath, iBFT, iSCSI COMSTAR
Hi,
WARNING: Long post ahead
I have an issue when starting multipathd. The kernel complains about "blk_cloned_rq_check_limits:
over max segments limit".
The server in question is configured for KVM hosting. It boots via iBFT to an iSCSI volume. Target
is COMSTAR and underlying that is a ZFS volume (100GB). The server also has two infiniband cards
providing four (4) more paths over SRP

multipath troubleshoot
Hi,
My storage admin just assigned a Lun (fibre) to my server. Then re scanned using
echo "1" > /sys/class/fc_host/host5/issue_lip
echo "1" > /sys/class/fc_host/host6/issue_lip
I can see the scsi device using dmesg
But mpath device are not created for this LUN
Pleas see below. The last 4 should be active and I think this is the problem

LVM not activating on reboot
Hi
I've recently rebuilt my home server using centos 7, and transplanted
over the main storage disks
It's a 3 disk raid5, with an lvm storage group (vg03) on there
Activating and mounting works fine:
# vgscan
? Reading volume groups from cache.
? Found volume group "vg03" using metadata type lvm2
# vgchange -ay
? 1 logical volume(s) in volume group "vg03" now

can't boot after volume rename
I renamed my volume with vgrename however I didn't complete the other steps.
Mainly update fstab and intiramfs. Once I booted, I was dropped on the
Dracut shell. From here I can see the newly rename VG and I can lvm lvscan
as well as activate it, lvm vgchange -ay.
However I can't figure out what to do next, I'm assuming I need to
regenerate the initramfs and then boot to change

Best Practice to remove an ISCSI LVM from a system
Hi,
I'd like to know what would be the best way to remove an iscsi lvm
storage from a server. (removing all reference to that storage etc.)
The storage in question will be reset and reformated and used on a
different server; so no LVM export is needed.
Do I have to do lvremove ..., vgremove ..., pvremove ... and do an
iscsiadm -m node -T ... -p ... -u and
iscsiadm -m node -o delete -T ...

mdraid doesn't allow creation: device or resource busy
Dear fellow CentOS users,
I have never experienced this problem with hard disk management before
and
cannot explain it to myself on any rational basis.
The setup:
I have a workstation for testing, running latest CentOS 7.3 AMD64. I am
evaluating oVirt and a storage-ha as part of my bachelors thesis.
I have already been running a RAID1 (mdraid, lvm2) for the system and
some oVirt 4.1 testing.

ocfs2console hangs on startup
Hi,
Hope this is the right place to ask this.
I have set up 2 ubuntu lts machines with an IBM iscsi san. I have set up
multipathd and ocfs2 and it seems to be working.
The problem is that when I run up ocfs2console it hangs (the console
app, not the system). Using strace, I can see that it is running through
all the /dev/sdx devices and loops trying to access the first one in

How do I create an initrd for a vm that is using lvm ?
Hi All,
I am trying to create an initrd for a VM which uses LVM as its root
partition. I am running the mkinitrd command a dom0 that also uses LVM -
dom0''s volume group is "XenHost" while the VM''s volume group is "VG_VM10"
(not sure if that matters). I issue the mkinitrd command from a chroot''d
environment so I get the right /lib/modules &

Multipathing with Sun 7310
Dear list,
we have a relatively new Sun Storage 7310, where we connect CentOS 5.5
Servers (IBM LS21/LS41 Blades) via Brocade Switches, 4GBit FC. The Blades
boot from SAN via qla2xxx, and have no harddisks at all. We want them to
use multipathing from the very beginning, so /boot and / are already seen
by multipathd. Problem is, that the Sun 7310 has two storage heads which

iscsi multipath fails
Hi all,
I have a Dell server running cent 5.6, new install, connecting to an IBM
DS3500. I have configured iscsi connections using iscsid and can log into
the targets on the IBM. I can also mount the LUNs when accessing them from
their active controller path. When I throw multipath into the mix, it fails
completely. Multipath is working, when I run multipath -ll it shows me the
correct active

Centos 7 on Dell Latitude E6500

I tried to install Centos7 x86_64 minimal 1503-01 from an USB
flash drive on my old Dell Latitude E6500 laptop.
boots up in text mode, switches text resolution, writes:

then hangs for some time, eventually starting dracut emergency
shell. log says:
