I run warcaft 3 under wine and the game works. However i can always see the bottom and top taskbars. (im using Ubuntu 9.04). I have DISABLED the window mode, and the problem still persists.

A little patch to make scale's show-desktop behaviour optional
This particular behaviour drives me nuts, its so easy to accidentally click on
desktop during scale and then all of your windows get minimized, which is no
fun. This little patch just makes this optional, leaving the default to be
the normal behaviour.

Show desktop not working correctly?
Hi,
is it a known bug that when using show desktop (pressing ctrl-d), showing
the windows again, all gnome-session processes appears as empty windows?

compiz without a desktop window
Running compiz without a desktop window has some unexpected behavior.
It is not possible to grab the cube with the mouse. The pointer needs to be over a window for it to work.
In display.c the XSelectInput call in addDisplay is missing ButtonPressMask and ButtonReleaseMask, so it makes sense why this doesn't work.
Is there a reason why they have been left out?

Emulate a lower desktop resolution for web browsing/flash
Hi,
My TV isn't big enough to read text when browsing websites (we sit far
away) and flash performance is awful at 1920x1080.
So I'm looking into ways to decrease the desktop resolution.
But my TV (Samsung 46" F series) only supports 1920x1080 via the VGA
connector - any lower resolution and it jumps to 1280x1024 which is
4:3 and makes widescreen flash content play squashed.

Drawing On the Desktop
Hi,
I am currently developing a xsnow like plugin for beryl called xglsnow
(http://cornergraf.net/projects/xglsnow/).
I have been told(1) that my way of drawing to the desktop is not very good and
that a better way might exist. I realize beryl is not the same as compiz, but I
hope that the differences are not too big on this matter, if not excuse me for
this post.
My drawing currently works

compiz and desktop slowness
Hello. I'm using compiz-vanilla, and I have noticed that it makes
Nautilus act extremely slow on my desktop; for example, if I select
several icons quickly the selection box becomes quite choppy, and if I
try to move them there is a huge "lag". I noticed that Nautilus behaves
completely normal on non-desktop windows, though, and if I replace
compiz with metacity (metacity --replace)

alt+f4 problem and/or virtual desktop question - MSoffice
I recently installed microsoft office on my ubuntu laptop 10.04 via WINE. It seems to be working pretty well after a reinstall, but I'm still having trouble closing the windows. I can't close any MS office program with alt+f4, or any other method (right click menu, middle click on cairo-dock icons, Compiz scale addon, etc) except using the X button within the app or going through the

roll wheel on desktop to switch viewport
Hi. After some time using Quinn's Compiz I returned to Vanilla, which is
more stable to me. There's a feature I do miss from Quinn's package,
though, and it's the ability to change viewports by rolling the mouse
wheel over the desktop.
Would it be possible to mimic that behavior in Vanilla? Thanks in
advance.

Compiz starts, but no 3D effects
I just installed Compiz on Ubuntu Feisty (Gutsy does not work on my
hardware as per the release notes) via the
http://ppa.launchpad.net/amaranth/ubuntu repo, which is the repo
suggested in the compiz-fusion website. The machine is a Dell Inspiron
E1505 / 6400 with the horrible ATI X1400 graphics card and 1680x1050
monitor. I installed XGL and the proprietary ATI driver, a combination
that worked

Which effects are 3D and which are 2D?
AMD is dropping support for the R300-R500 cards in their official drivers:
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=amd_r500_legacy&num=1
As the current open source drivers do not support 3D, I'd like to know
which Compiz effects use 3D and which use 2D. Thanks.

No 3D in KDE, other effects work
In Ubuntu 7.10 with KDE, I have compiz running under XGL. Although
Beryl ran fine in Ubuntu 7.04, Compiz will not enable 3D effects such
as wobbly windows. Other effects, such as minimize/restore animations,
work properly. The machine is a Dell Inspiron 6400 / E1505 laptop,
2Ghz Intel DuoCore2, 2GB RAM, ATI X1400, 1680x1050 widescreen. What
should I begin to troubleshoot?
Thanks in advance.

Rainmeter desktop display, skins not transparent
Firstly, I've filed a bug about this transparency issue here ( http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18144 ) as well as another bug completely unrelated to the threads in the vein of gdiplus ( http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18142 ).
The bug I'm interested in for the purpose of this thread is the transparency issue displayed when Rainmeter loads a skin. Rainmeter (as well as

Module error in mkinitrd
We are happily running xen on a server which uses a SATA driver (thank
you all you xenists for producing such a great product). However, we
are creating a custom kernel for a domU. When we attempt to run
mkinitrd we get:
No module ata_piix found for kernel 2.6.11.12-xenUIPSec, aborting.
This is the SATA driver. In the past (xen 2.0.5), we simply ran make
ARCH=xen menuconfig and told it to
