Web based project management recomendations
I was wondering if anyone can recommend an advanced to enterprise class project management package (web based) that runs with a pretty "vanilla" centos install. I would prefer to stick within the realm of php/mysql (as I am not too familiar with the java servers), but would venture there if the reasons were there to do so. The approach is not software dev management, but rather

possible bug 5.1 - possibly more of a package issue
Hi there, not really sure if this is a bug, but more so rather a missing file... I installed a fresh 5.1 copy very minimal - no desktop, etc. Now it came up later that I would need a desktop on this install. So I was going to just groupinstall in the Gnome Desktop. # yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment" Now while processing the dependencies, it fails out with a dependency for

Ad integration with centos 6
Can anyone point me to a tutorial on using Active Directory to authenticate a centos 6 server? I just want to use it to authenticate, ssh and restrict access to a particular ad group. I prefer to use the lightest method possible. I know you can use ldap, or winbind, etc. I have been trying to follow the ones I have been googling, but none of them seem "quit complete. My issue is that I have

df -h shows system at 100% used, but there is space left
Has anyone seen output like this before? Notice on my /dev/md0 That it reports 100% used, but also 5.3 Gb available. What would cause this? # df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda2 71G 1.6G 66G 3% / /dev/sda1 99M 22M 73M 23% /boot tmpfs 506M 0 506M 0% /dev/shm /dev/md0 903G 851G 5.3G 100%

keyboard and mouse not working on vnc when vmware tools installed
I had some trouble with centos 6 installed on ESXi 5. Vnc didn't work properly until i removed the file /etc/xdg/autostart/vmware-user.desktop. I found the solution in this thread on vmware forums: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/326868 The same solution applies to xrdp since it uses vnc. Maybe this helps someone find the solution faster.

32 or 64 bit (4 gb ram)
Is there any real advantage to using 64 bit when I am right at the 4gb ram threshhold? Nice plans to add more ram. The machine will just be a backup machie (rsync). Thanks in advance. D

Constant disk activity
Hi there, I have an old server (home use now), and i just did a fresh install of 5.8 on it. But the disk is constantly noisy. When running iotop, there is nothing blaring out at me. CentOS6 and netboot
Is there any chance the system-config-netboot* rpms upstream removed from CentOS6 could be provided in extras? The CentOS5 SRPM builds cleanly under CentOS6, and upstream's workaround is insufficient as it only covers diskless clients, not helpful if you need pxeos.

Netboot and PXELINUX
Hi all, I have just been informed that Netboot (http://netboot.sourceforge.net/) can be used to produce PXE boot ROMs. I wonder if anyone has tried running this combination with PXELINUX? This is obviously a really big deal... :) -hpa

Install via VNC
This sounds very interesting: http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/VncHeadlessInstall It would get me around my limitations on the screen on the OQO. And the instructions read rather well. Only thing I don't know how to do is have vncviewer in 'listen' mode.

dual disk netboot approach
Hello, My challenge is to run Linux on a computer where I don't dare to touch the Microsoft Windows harddisk. Fifthteen years ago would be trick to attach a second harddisk to the computer and boot from floppy disk. In 2011 is the idea to attach a second disk and netboot it. One approach is to TFTP the kernel and append 'root=/dev/sdb1' This E-mail is however to seek advice for

Keyboard repeat error - VNC Xen virtual framebuffer
Hello Xen-Users, I am currently provisioning old Linux guests as HVM on a server, and giving clients access through VNC. The current setup uses the default Xen framebuffer as a VNC server (all configuration files have vnc=1 and a few other settings), and my clients are using vinagre (a.k.a. Remote Desktop Viewer) on Arch as their VNC client. Problem: Keyboard input is not consistently handled

minimum needed for x11 forwarding
Hi there - I did a minimal install of centos 5. I did not want to run a desktop on the machine, however did want to be able to forward various GUI apps through X11/ssh to a local machine. What is the minimum needed on the server for this to work? Regards, DK

Kerio Mailserver on Centos 5
I was wondering if any of the mail admins on here have used the kerio mail server on centos, and their thoughts on it. My initial testing is going very well - but was hoping for some unbiased opinions (as opposed to asking on the kerio forum) on it's use with centos (5 in particular if possible). THE typical q's - IE performance, issues, etc. Thanks in advance. Dk

Keyboard problems with VNC access
Hi, I am pretty new to libvirt, but have succeeded in setting up two VM's, Windows 10 and ClearOS (a Centos derivative) and they both have the same issue. I have installed both of them with a UK English keyboard, but the host machine is remote and in the US with a US locale. When I access either through VNC (I've tried TightVNC and VNC-Viewer), a number of my keys don't map

Diskless client from system-config-netboot doesn't boot.
Hi folks, I've followed a set of instructions I found on http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/centos_linux_guides/centos_enterprise_linux_sysadmin_guide/ch-diskless.htmli which describes using system-config-netboot to set up PXE booting. I used a CentOS-4.3 install (custom, all options de-selected, then anaconda-busybox installed after the fact) as a reference/base. I followed the
