Cups..works on LM8.1, LM8.2 but not LM9
I've been trying every combination possible to get CUPS on LM9 to print to a shared printer on a windows machine. On setting up the printer in printerdrake, On LM8.1 it worked first time. On LM8.2 with the same settings it worked first time. On LM9 it just sits there and laughs at me, with the same settings as LM8.1 and LM8.2. And how do i remove a default printer it thinks it has but

Landscape problems with ps2pdf [summary]
Since I sent my original question last week, this is one of two suggestions that worked. Using Adobe Acrobat, as suggested by Professor Ripley, was very satisfactory, but required that I use multiple platforms to make the conversion to PDF (from Linux to Windows). The solution by Peter Adorjan (included below), also worked very well, and can be carried out on any platform using tools available

page count logging samba/cups
Hi, I know this subject appeared a few times on this list, but I've tried some of solutiuons presented there, and nothing works. I have a CUPS server and HP LaserJet 2200 printer. I downloaded postscript driver for this printer from cups.org, installed it in CUPS and then installed it using cupsaddsmb in Samba. This driver now installs automatically on my Windows clients. Problem is that

Nb of copies don't appear in page_log file
Hi I am currently using Samba 3.0.11 and Cups 1.1.23 with Windows PostScript drivers and manufacturer PPDs on WinXP clients. When I print multiples copies of a document from a Windows XP box, the number of copies appearing in the Cups "page_log" file always takes the "1" value but the printer prints the correct number of copies. When I do the same on Linux (with the lpr

printer trouble - missing driver?
I can't get my HP DeskJet D2345 (USB) to work on my CentOS 5.3 machine. It'll work on another machine (with Fedora 7). I compared the installation details (in CUPS http://localhost:631) - seems that Cent does not have the driver. On the F7 machine, the device is "D2345 (HP D2300 series)" and the driver is "HP DeskJet D2300 Foomatic/hpijs". When I try to config my

Page_log with number of pages prtinted wrong
The Adobe drivers (on request of the printer PPD associated with them) often put a PJL header in front of the main PostScript part of the print file. Thus, the printfile starts with <1B >%-12345X or <escape>%-12345X instead of %!PS). This leads to the CUPS daemon auto-typing the incoming file as a print-ready file, not initiating a pass through the pstops filter (to speak more

shared printer won't print
Hi everyone, I have a properly configured printer (with cups) attached to the computer running the samba server. It prints when issued within the command line (lp). When I try to print via samba, the printer doesn't react. I have configured the smb.conf using the man page of cupsaddsmb. The samba log files don't report anything at all (tried to turn the verbose loggin but failed). The

Recommendations for Lexmark Z11 driver install?
I've "inherited" an old Lexmark Z11 and would like to plug it in to my CentOS 4 box as a second printer. I shut down, hooked it up to the parallel port, rebooted, and hwbrowser recognizes it on /dev/lp0, so I ran through setting it up as a queue with printconf-gui. However, printing the test page fails because the renderer "lz11.foomatic" is not found (details below for

Have just upgraded from 3.0.13 to 3.0.20 on our Solaris domain controller. Machine is also print server running CUPS-1.1.23. We have a RICOH network printer that we print to via Samba (the printer seems to have a builtin Windows PC). smbspool is linked to /usr/lib/cups/backend/smb and the appropriate DeviceURI is in /etc/cups/printers.conf.
