Torrent sharing question
Hi Folks.
Just a quick question. I have been sharing CenOS 5.0 and 5.1 since I down
loaded them. Now we are on to 5.2 is it still worth sharing them or can I
archive them to DVD and save some hard drive space?

Central file server advice please
Hi List
I have a Gygabyte GA-7N400 PRO2 with a 2.6 mHz Athlon cpu. I want to set up a
central file storage for 2/3 users using 6/7 machines. A mixture of win2k, XP
and various Linux distros (my home network). It will be used to store files,
(docs, music and DVD ) for all of these machines, print server, (two
ink-jets), mail server and later on a myth tv set up. Would SAMBA be the
best option

OT: Making BT/Yahoo account accessible to plain router
My daughter has a BT account, with a BT supplied single-port router. I'd like
to replace it with a standard router, but the settings appear to be totally
hidden. If anyone reading uses BT, could you please tell me where to find
the info? Maybe off-list, to save bandwidth for others/ Thanks

BIOS upgrade side effects
Are there any possible undesirable effects of a BIOS upgrade? The worst I
can think of is something that would change my SATA drives from being
mapped as SCSI to being mapped as IDE.

Folding@Home
Hi,
I seem to not be able to connect to the folding site and receive new work.
Anyone else having this issue? Port 8080 is open as well as the other web
ports on the firewall. I can ping the host but get nothing when I open a web
browser to it.
Anyone else having the same issues? Where can I look to figure this one out?

External SATA drive enclosures + ZFS?
Hi all,
Space is starting to get a bit tight here, so I''m looking at adding
a couple of TB to my home server. I''m considering external USB or
FireWire attached drive enclosures. Cost is a real issue, but I also
want the data to be managed by ZFS--so enclosures without a JBOD option
have been disgarded (i.e., I don''t want to use any internal HW RAID
controllers).

Retrive data from repartitioned / reformatted hard drive?
Hi,
The title says it all. One of my clients showed me a 120 GB hard drive
that his daughter accidentally formatted, according to him. I booted the
first CD I had at hand - a Slackware 11.0 install CD - and launched
cdfdisk /dev/hda. cfdisk informed me that there was even no partition
table. So much for reformatting. cfdisk only shows me 120 GB of free space.
Any way to retrive data on this

f/oss routing solution?
I'm looking for an open source router solution, and someone from the list
recently recommended zebra (www.zebra.org). I haven't yet identified all my
needs, but I'm guessing that it will do all my routing needs for a, say,
class C set of IP addresses, particularly if I ever have to do anything
BGP-related.
Anyone have any pointers before I delve in? Or possibly a recommendation

FXSplashWindow
I saw Jeroen''s suggestion on how to use FXSplashWindow on the
foxgui-users list and thought I''d try it.
My attempt was as follows:
require ''fox16''
include Fox
app = FXApp.new("App")
icon = nil
File.open(''icon.gif'', ''rb'') { |f|
icon = FXGIFIcon.new(app, f.read)
}

Problems with TDM400P & X100P
Hi,
I had ordered a TDM40B and developers kit a few months ago. I have everything installed and working, with one exception - sound quality. When placing a call it sounds like a very bad cordless phone - lots of hiss / static in the background. This even happens with the dialtone, though it is much worse one the call is connected. This does not occur when the phone is directly connected to the

Protection for removable hard drive
My apologies if this is a bit off topic...
I am going to start doing backups to removable hard drives and I will
need to send these hard drives to an off-site storage facility. I am
looking for some way to protect the drives after I pull them out of the
system. I was hoping to find some kind of clamshell enclosure similar
to what is used with external hard drives, but so far I haven't found

cpu type
I have a quick question.
The board and CPU that I'm using in one of my machines was given
to me. I didn't take the time to look up the info on the board or
anything. I was busy, so I just put the board in a pc case, hooked
everything up, and loaded the os on the machine.
I didn't know it at the time, but there's a chance it may be a
64bit board and cpu. I don't

Booting from a USB hard drive?
I'm trying to learn Asterisk (specifically Trixbox) and, as you
probably know, it runs on CentOS. I want to run it on my laptop and
thought that I could install it to an external USB hard drive, like
I've done with Fedora 12 and Linux Mint 8 (I like to keep my small
CentOS/Windows dual booting hard drive in the laptop's hard drive
slot). But it won't work. It kept giving me hard
