Instructions for clean Install of Wine, EVE, and Ventrilo
I built this box and was looking forward to running eve on it. 2 weeks later CCP dropped support for Linux and I haven't been able to get a decent install yet. I found some instructions last night that let me run eve in safe mode, but if I tried adding Vent, it would crash. Also, I can't get Vent to run either.
Can somebody post a straight forward install so I can run this game as

Hello,
One of my users has a mailbox named 'INBOX.Kron & SPM' (maybe created a

CentOS 4.4 smp on Dual Quad Core Xeon
I'm booting the default kernel on a dual quad core Xeon machine. I only see four CPUs and I expect to see 8.
Do I have to build a custom kernel?
Is there a switch or configuration parameter I need to set?
Thanks,
Jerry

SemiPar/spm question
Hello -- I posted this question yesterday and for some reason the post seems to be attached to the wrong thread. Also, I extended my test a little and it seems to indicate the problem is with spm. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

plotting with varying dot sizes
Dear all,
I am trying to plot on a spatial map the punctual measurements of the data
located in the file (https://opengeo.metu.edu.tr/test.csv). I'd like to have
the dots in some way proportional to the magnitudes of the measurements.
I have difficulties with the code given below: The dot sizes do not vary not
proportionally when varying the coefficient ("0.725"). It either plots

Intel DG33BU motherboard
Hi
I've installed CentOS 5.2 (i386) in a computer with a DG33BU motherboard
... When I installed it it crashed because of ACPI issues. Searching Google
I found that I need to turn ACPI off in order to successfully install
CentOS, which I did.
After a while I noticed that because of ACPI is off the Linux kernel

Hello,
I have been working sometime now on getting a HVM accepting a PCI card from
the host. As was said in the VT-D wiki I bought an ASUS P5E VM DO
motherboard (rel 0803) which has the VT-D option in the bios. I want to pass
a Hauppauge PVR 500 card to a virtual machine running LinuxMCE. After first
trying XEN 3.2.1 which did not enable the "VT-D virtualisation" bit in xm

Heteroskedasticity and Autocorrelation in SemiPar package
Hi all,
Does anyone know how to report heteroskedasticity and autocorrelation-consistent standard errors when using the "spm" command in SemiPar package? Suppose the original command is
sp1<-spm(y~x1+x2+f(x3), random=~1,group=id)
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Susan

Two-factorial Huynh-Feldt-Test
Hi,
I'm currently working on porting some SAS scripts to R, and hence need
to do the same calculation (and get the same results) as SAS in order to
make the transition easier for users of the script.
In the script, I'm dealing with a two-factorial repeated-measures anova.
I'll try to give you a short overview of the setup:

Intel SATA controller (cmiiw) not recognized by Centos 5.1 installation?
Hi, there,
I tried to install Centos 5.1 on a Dell Inspiron 530 box I just bought, but
failed due to invalid drive. The installation did not recognize either the
DVD nor the hard disk. Joseph from the community said it is likely that
Centos can't recognize the controller -- Intel SATA controller (cmiiw).
Did anyone solve this problem before? How did you do it?

Team Fortress 2 Issues
Hello there,
After downloading the latest version of wine, latest graphics drivers and install Steam through PlayOnLinux, I tried to launch Team Fortress 2.
The initial Valve sound played and then the menu soud, but there was absolutely no video/display. Checking the processes list, hl2.exe was still running, so obviously something is going wrong here.
My system should be fine, as I used to run

[LLVMdev] Quad-Core ARMv7 Build Slave Seeks Noble Purpose
I finally got it to work - and my ODROID-XU is now a passive member of the
LLVM builder society for the next week or so, until it has proven itself
(it monitors changes to the SVN repository and builds in my end without
bothering anyone at LLVM.org about its findings). I did write up a "short"
treatise on how to do it, in case anybody needs to do this sometime in the
future. I expect

On Unix systems these are all symlinks and so essentially free. I hear

Renato, thanks for your elaborate walk-through of the issues with ARM
boards. I'm trying to add some of this to the "How to Build on ARM"
document and will submit a patch later on.
I already ran into the problem of cores disappearing, but on Arch Linux
(which uses a fairly recent kernel), the missing cores come back as soon as
the load falls to zero.

Error: failed to assign device...VT-d isn''t enabled properly(?)
Dear List,
I need to make an Aladdin eToken Pro visible in a Linux guest HVM, but
I cannot assign the device to any domU, while it''s being blocked by
the dom0.
To avoid this trouble I would like to pass the whole USB bus to the
domU directly, via PCI passthrough.
Now I use xen 3.3.0 from xensource and xen kernel from Ubuntu 8.04
2.6.24-19-xen, because the xensource xen kernel

Kernel crash with acpi_processor, cpu_idle and intel_idle =y
Hi everyone,
When I set CONFIG_ACPI_PROCESSOR, CONFIG_CPU_IDLE and CONFIG_INTEL_IDLE
to y then I cannot boot Xen; there is a crash. If I turn
CONFIG_INTEL_IDLE off then the boot goes well and, after dom0 has
booted, xenpm works and gives some sane output, see below. I have
tested this with kernels 3.2 to 3.4.6.
Is it impossible to use INTEL_IDLE with Xen? If this is a known issue
then maybe
