OT- Re: ext3 filesystems larger than 8TB
I was basing that on the fact that she had secured Russian citizenship for her children prior to the divorce, but I cannot get the complete details as I just don't have the time these days to follow any story in great length. I still stand behind the idea that it was a case of accidental manslaughter that was attempted to be covered up. Is there a court tv mailing list out there? -Ross

ext3 filesystems larger than 8TB
Greetings. I am trying to create a 10TB (approx) ext3 filesystem. I am able to successfully create the partition using parted, but when I try to use mkfs.ext3, I get an error stating there is an 8TB limit for ext3 filesystems. I looked at the specs for 5 on the "upstream" vendor's website, and they indicate that there is a 16TB limit on ext3. Has anyone been able to create

mounting filesystems with blocks larger then 4k over a loop device
So I'm playing around with S3 and elasticdrive, and I create a filesystem on it with a block size larger then 4k. mkfs.xfs -b size=8k /mnt/ed5/ed0 -f This completes fine and sets up the proper filesystem. When I try to mount it, however, I get: mount /mnt/ed5/ed0 /mnt/eds35/ -o loop mount: Function not implemented looking at dmesg I get: XFS: Attempted to mount file system with

Adding larger bricks to an existing volume
I have a 10x2 distributed replica volume running gluster3.8. Each of my bricks is about 60TB in size. ( 6TB drives Raid 6 10+2 ) I am running of storage so I intend on adding servers with larger 8Tb drives. My new bricks will be 80TB in size. I will make sure the replica to the larger brick will match in size. Will gluster place more files on the larger bricks? Or will I have wasted space? In

Initial samba + ldap howto
A couple of days ago I decided that I needed a samba and ldap setup. After reading the samba mailing list , specifically the thread "Re: [Samba] Samba and LDAP backend - howto docs problems?" I decided to buy the Official Samba-3 HowTo and Reference guide", (the Samba-3 By Example mentioned in that thread wasn't available in my bookstore and they could't order it for me too)

Kickstart 8TB partition limit?
I found a kickstart installation with part pv.100000 --size=1 --grow volgroup vol0 pv.100000 creates a partition with a size of 8TB even though more than 9TB is available. I need to go in manually with gdisk to destroy the partition and recreate it with all available space. No filesystem is specified be cause want to use xfs, which kickstart does not support out of the box. This is under

rsync to a destination > 8TB problem...
I am trying to use a large (10TB) reiserfs filesystem as an rsync target. The filesystem is on top of lvm2 (pretty sure this doesn't matter, but just in case.) I get the following error when trying to sync a modest set of files to that 10TB target (just syncing /etc for now): rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed to write 4 bytes: phase "unknown": Broken pipe rsync error: error in

DRS and DNS sync are not working after update from 4.8.2 to 4.8.3
Hi Aleksey, did you find any solution for this? I just updated from 4.8.2 to 4.8.3 and had very similar effects: Login was no longer possible with 4.8.3 - log file was full of "ldb: Failed to unlock db" messages. I had to downgrade to 4.8.2 in order to make samba work again. Bye, Marcel June 28, 2018 10:28 AM, "Aleksey Vladimirov via samba" <samba at

constructing a dataframe from a database of newspaper articles
I am hoping for some assistance with formatting a large text file which consists of a series of individual records. Each record includes specific labels/field names (a sample of 1 record (one of the longest ones) is below - at end of post. What I want to do is reformat the data, so that each individual record becomes a row (some cells will have a lot of text). For example, the column

Typo in src/extra/tzone/registryTZ.c
I stumbled upon a typo in a time zone name: Irtutsk should be Irkutsk. A patch is attached. I also checked that this is the only bug of its kind in this file, i.e., all the other Olson time zones occurring in the file can also be found in Unicode Common Locale Data Repository. - Mikko Korpela Index: src/extra/tzone/registryTZ.c ===================================================================

Can't transfer files larger than 2GB from hpux to Win2K...
Greetings, I run an automated process from cron that uploads a large file from my HP/UX server to a PC running Windows 2000 weekly. The process began to fail once the size of the uploaded file gre to over 2GB in size. I've upgraded the Samba 2.2 installation to Samba 3.0.10 but that hasn't fixed the problem. We are running NTFS filesystems on the Windows server. From what I

smb_proc_readX_data: offset is larger than SMB_READX_MAX_PAD or negative!
Hi, I'm using Debian unstable, with kernel-image-2.6.8-1-686-smp 2.6.8-10, and samba 3.0.10-1. I smbmount a Windows 2003 share with MP3s. The DC is Windows 2003 in mixed mode. dhclient: parse_option_buffer: option ... larger than buffer
Lately, I've been getting messages of the form dhclient: parse_option_buffer: option unknown-177 (65) larger than buffer. from logcheck. dhclient has not been updated, so this is likely a change in the configuration of my ISP. As the logcheck maintainer, I now wonder what I should do with those. In general, I tend to think that ignoring such warnings is safe because the software caught

Samba reporting only ~4G on a much larger filesystem
I tried this on the IRC channel and got not response... I have a 2.2TB filesystem. The filesystem itself is a stornext (Quantum) filesystem, which in the /etc/fstab is type cvfs. When a client mounts the samba share, it only reports ~4GB (3.9 or 3.7 GB) total space. We have a third party app, which will/can not be updated which checks the disk space available and fails if it's not enough.
