[LLVMdev] "Name that compiler"
Hi The Dragon book, led my thoughts to "Here be dragons" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Here_be_dragons "In another context, software programmers sometimes use it to indicate especially difficult or obscure sections of code in a program so that others do not tamper with them." Why not some dragon name ? or maybe someone can use this idea to come up with something else. /f

Samba digest 2532 / Problem with "force create mode" et. al.
Hi, Frankly spoken you have a real RTFM problem. The manual pages for smb.conf say that "create mask" and "create mode" are equal. It also says that there is only a "force XXXX mode" (where XXXX is either create or directory). So a replacement of mask with mode will do the thing. The other mistake is that there is no "force create group" parameter. The

Secondary Groups and Group Mapping
We are having what appears to be two main issues in our attempt to setup Samba 3.0.0 compiled from src on Solaris 8. We are using Samba to provide Unix shares on W2K clients, and to authenticate against a W2K Active Directory server. OpenLDAP is used on the Samba side for the UID/GID to SID mappings. The first issue deals with the file sharing. Even if a file gives full permission to one of a

Some hints for the R beginner
There is now a document called "Some hints for the R beginner" whose purpose is to get people up and running with R as quickly as possible. Direct access to it is: http://www.burns-stat.com/pages/Tutor/hints_R_begin.html JRR Tolkien wrote a story (sans hobbits) called 'Leaf by Niggle' that has always resonated with me. I offer you an imperfect, incomplete tree (but my roof is

LLVM 3.9 RC binaries should NOT disable assertions.
> I would argue that you should build the RC and the release the same way. I've had to fix bugs were someone had an assert with a side-effect, and the code with asserts turned off didn't work. OK, so it's clearly important to provide and test against RC's in the actual release configuration, especially since assertions can introduce bugs on their own. Arguably however

Is There an Alternative to MEMDISK ?
This isn't an esp urgent issue, but I'd like to use a certain RAM diagnostic (Doc Mem) which I've already posted a note about a couple of months ago. Simply won't work booting the floppy disk image via MEMDISK. In the interim, I've tried to resolve this by changing things on my side. I'm pretty sure it's a XMS incompatibility, as it fails differently depending on

[LLVMdev] "Name that compiler"
Mithril The fictional metal from JRR Tolkien The Lord of the Rings. Gandalf says: "Mithril! All folk desired it. It could be beaten like copper, and polished like glass; and the Dwarves could make of it a metal, light and yet harder than tempered steel. Its beauty was like to that of common silver, but the beauty of mithril did not tarnish or grow dim." Paolo Invernizzi On

Poll: what features are you lusting for in v4
While we're waiting on the keebler elves to make the new CentOS 4, what feature(s) are you most lusting after in RHEL/CentOS 4? For me: - official Mysql 4!!! (man does this make me happy) - official Subversion ..are my top two, they will make me a happy camper for so many projects. :) Sure sure the 2.6 kernel is nice, but that super-patched 2.4 kernel on v3 seems to work quite well

Hello
What I'm trying to get at is this -- I'd like to analyze and understand what softwares that was used to build a library of softwares that made it as UBCD 4.x. This way, I would be able to use UBCD as a model to build customized ITS apps to be used for campus tech work. Is there some kind of step-by-step or user guide that explains how to build everything from scratch and what softwares

PXELINUX hanging when booting floppy images
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I am trying to create a PXE setup with floppy images for all needed utilities - for example, BIOS flash for various motherboards, disk diagnostic tools, memtest86+, etc. I've gotten memtest86+ to work (using the .bin), and some of the disk images work - however, some disk images will not boot. All of the images were pulled from working, bootable

Inheritance of ACLs with Samba
Hello dear list members I am not an experienced user of Samba, so I can be committing some basic mistake, but it seems to me that there is something wrong with the way Samba propagates ACLs. I tried versions 3.0.32 and 3.2.4 and the result is the same. This happens with "map acl inherit = yes" on smb.conf. I have a directory (dir) with the following ACLs: # file: dir USER Admin

replication newbie: some beginner questions
At a customer we run dovecot-2.3.10 along with postfix and mariadb, using postfixadmin as GUI. Now I plan to migrate to a new hardware (bigger machine) and in the same step to migrate from Gentoo Linux to Debian Linux. So I think about how to get the mailboxes from A to B. We use one UID afaik: mail_home = /home/vmail/%d/%u mail_location = maildir:~ I read about dsync and wonder: * does it
