Fatal: master: service(imap): child 20258 killed with signal 6 (core not dumped - set service imap { drop_priv_before_exec=yes })
All, Just move our mail servers over to a new mail server running postfix 2.11.1 and dovecot 2.2.13 and getting the subject line errors in my /var/adm/files. People are complaining of loosing their connections to the mail server. I've been able to google this error but haven't found fix for this yet. NOt sure where to put the drop-priv option in the config files either. Any

disable_plaintext_auth = no as no effect on IMAP/POP3 logins
Hello In my installation the disable_plaintext_auth does not appear to take effect. I can see that the value is correct using doveconf -a but it doesn't change anything. Whenever attempting to log in using IMAP I get this: * BAD [ALERT] Plaintext authentication not allowed without SSL/TLS, but your client did it anyway. If anyone was listening, the password was exposed. ls NO

Director pop-login and imap-login processes exiting on signal 11
We recently upgraded our cluster to 2.1.3, to enable director proxying. Everything appears to be working fine for the most part; the only odd thing is that I'm seeing a lot of entries in the logs like this: Apr 7 02:18:05 mail-out06 dovecot: pop3-login: Fatal: master: service(pop3-login): child 75029 killed with signal 11 (core not dumped - set service pop3-login {

Hello, I've just updated to 2.0.9 and I've got lots of these in the logs now. Jan 13 18:57:13 master: Error: service(imap): child 40100 killed with signal 11 (core not dumped - set service imap { drop_priv_before_exec=yes }) Is there a configuration change or something else I should have done while updating? I tried to get some information by loading the binary into gdb and got this:

[Dovecot 2.1] ACL plugin makes imap service crash when using some clients
Hello, I've just noticed that when Horde is connecting to Dovecot 2.1, it crashes the imap service if Dovecot is configured to use the ACL plugin. I'm not sure what's so special about the command Horde sends, but it shouldn't make Dovecot crash. Everything is fine when using Thunderbird. Here is the message in Dovecot's logs "Fatal: master: service(imap): child 89974

core not dumped
There is some underlying problem with imap-login but in order to debug it I'd like to see a core file. On error dovecot reports "core not dumped". If I put "abort()" in the code at the point it is reporting then a core file is written, so there is no OS reason why a core can not be written. It appears to be dovecot's choice to control the child. In an attempt

New log entries with 2.0.19?
I just upgraded my Ubuntu server from 11.10 to 12.04.1 and that upgraded Dovecot to 2.0.19. For some reason I'm getting a lot more (5 times) disconnect in IDLE and inactivity time outs. I'm using only IMAP with two users. Both users access the server from multiple devices, phone, tablet and desktop computer. I had previously set the max_userip_connections to 20 and rarely got the

strange fencing behavior
I have 10 servers in a cluster running Debian Etch with 2.6.26-bpo.2 with a backport of ocfs2-tools-1.4.1-1 I'm using AoE to export the drives from a Debian Lenny server in the cluster. My problem is if I mount the ocfs2 partition on the server that is exporting it via AoE it fences the entire cluster. Looking at the logs exporting the ocfs2 partition doesn't give much information...

Dovecot 2.0.9: Thunderbird 3.1.9: Very slow while open sent folder with many (4k>) mails
hi, one customer told us, that he has performance problem in his Thunderbird 3.1.9, while open his sent folder, which has round about 4000 mails in it, and 20k in his Inbox. For example TB, tries to sync the sent-folder list (over SSL) from the sent folder for now over 15min. In the log, I can't see any strange things, so for me, Dovecot works ok. Maybe, I should use better cache options?
