smbcontrol -d 3 smbd reload-config permission denied message.
Hi, I was attempting to make some changes to the file specified on the username map parameter. I then assumed that I needed to refresh the smbd options for this to take effect. I issued smbcontrol -d 3 smbd reload-config but the changes did not happen. In the trace output, I see the following messages:- csm1:/opt/pware64/lib #smbcontrol -d 3 smbd reload-config lp_load_ex: refreshing

Auomatic Download of climate netcdf4 files from the Climate Explorer Website
Dear R-helpers, I am trying to download some netcdf4 files from the Climate Explorer Website: http://climexp.knmi.nl/start.cgi?id=someone at somewhere In fact, there are 78 distinct files. I have found a way to download a particular file and open it in R, but I have been informed that there exists some code to automatically download all the files. Do you have any clue regarding how to achieve

Error in randomForest.default(m, y, ...) : negative lengt h vectors are not allowed
Christian -- You don't provide enough information (like a call) to answer this. I suspect, though, that you may be subsetting in a way that passes randomForest no data. I'm not aware offhand of an easy way to get this error from randomForest. I tried creating some data superficially similar to yours to see whether something would break if there were only a single value in the variable

RESTful web service tutorial?
Hi, I would like to turn some of our simulation codes out to pasture and string some of them together by draping them in web services. I''m looking for a RESTful Camping tutorial to get started ... pointers appreciated. Some simple example applications: airfoil force calculator: feed it an airfoil geometry, an angle of attack, and a Mach number, and it returns the lift, drag, and

problems with large data II
If you have a large enough machine, you'll be able to run randomForest with that size data (we have done that regularly). One thing that many people don't seem to realize is that the "formula interface" has significant overhead. For large data sets, try running randomForest without using the formula. Other tips are: If you don't need to predict future data, set keep.forest

How do i "talk" to the IAXy...? (Newbie Alert)
Hi, hoping that experienced hands will quickly show me the right way: after a fruitless web search i am turning to this list with my rather elementary question: is there any other way to communicate with the IAXy besides using special utility software that needs to be compiled under UNIX? Here is the story: about two months ago, after some not very satisfactory attempts at using SIP (my phone
