Fishers exact test at < 2.2e-16
In an effort to select the most appropriate number of clusters in a
mixture analysis I am comparing the expected and actual membership of
individuals in various clusters using the Fisher?s exact test. I aim
for the model with the lowest possible p-value, but I frequently get
p-values below 2.2e-16 and therefore does not get exact p-values with
standard Fisher?s exact tests in R.
Does anybody know

Help for Fisher's exact test
Hi, R-help,
I have a group of data from RNA-seq want to be analyzed by Fisher's
exact test in R. I want to compare the significant difference of about
30,0000 individuals in two different samples, and I have no idea how to use
R, so could you please give me some suggestions or the scripts for
Fisher's exact test? Thank you very much.
Best,

Question about BIC of two different regression models? how should we compare two regression models?
Hi All,
In order to compare two different logistic regressions, I think I need to compare them based on their BIC values, but I am not sure if the smaller BIC would mean a better model or the reverse is true?
Thanks a lot,Andra

A better way to do this
Hello gurus,
I have a dataframe containing two groups viz., 'control' and 'case', each of
these groups contains longitudinal data for 100 subjects. I have to plot all
these subjects on a single chart and then put a regression line for each of
the group for all the subjects. I have written a function to do the chart

Name assignment in for loop
Dear helpeRs-
I'm using a for loop to create a series of models.
I'm trying to assign a name to each model created,
using the loop index. The loop gets stuck at the name
of the model, giving the error "target of assignment
expands to non-language object". The linear model runs
without error; only the name is problematic.
Here is the current loop syntax. The use of dat

Replacing elements of list
Dear all,
I have following two list object, both are basically collection of matrices
:
dat1 <- matrix(rnorm(25*6), ncol=6)
dat1 <- split(dat1, seq(5,25,by=5))
dat1 <- lapply(dat1, matrix, ncol=6)
dat2 <- matrix(rnorm(25*4), ncol=4)
dat2 <- split(dat2, seq(5,25,by=5))
dat2 <- lapply(dat2, matrix, ncol=4)
Now I want to replace last 4 columns of each matrix at "dat1"

conditional statement to replace values in dataframe with NA
Hello and thanks for helping.
#some data
L3 <- LETTERS[1:3]
dat1 <- data.frame(cbind(x=1, y=rep(1:3,2), fac=sample(L3, 6, replace=TRUE)))
#When x==1 and y==1 I want to replace the 1 values with NA
#I can select the rows I want:
dat2<-subset(dat1,x==1 & y==1)
#replace the 1 with NA
dat2$x<-rep(NA,nrow(dat2)
dat2$y<-rep(NA,nrow(dat2)
#select the other rows and rbind

Compare two data sets
I would like to compare two data sets saved as text files (example below) to determine if both sets are identical(or if dat2 is missing information that is included in dat1) and if they are not identical list what information is different between the two sets(ie output "a1", "a3" as the differing information). The overall purpose would be to remove "a1" and

fitting lognormal censored data
Hi ,
I am trying to get some estimator based on lognormal distribution when we have left,interval, and right censored data. Since, there is now avalible pakage in R can help me in this, I had to write my own code using Newton Raphson method which requires first and second derivative of log likelihood but my problem after runing the code is the estimators were too high. with this email ,I provide

S4 classes: referencing slots with other slots
For those who suggest other ways to do this, I ALREADY HAVE ANOTHER
DESIGN SOLUTION, DESCRIBED AT THE END.
That being said, I want to know if it's possible to reference a slot
in an S4 class from another slot, i.e. I'd like to have the "self.*"
semantics of Python so that I can reuse a slot. That is, for various
reasons it would be nice to be able to do something like:

Hi, I accidently left out few lines of code from the calclp function. Updated function is pasted below.

help with recursive function
Your code contains the lines
stopifnot(!(any(data1$norm_sd >= 1)))
if (!(any(data1$norm_sd >= 1))) {
df1 <- dat1
return(df1)
}
stop() "throws an error", causing the current function and all functions in
the call
stack to abort and return nothing. It does not mean to stop now and return
a result.
Does the function give

help with recursive function
Eric: Thanks for taking time to look into my problem. Despite of making the change you suggested, I am still getting the same error. I am wondering if the logic I am using in the stopifnot and if functions is a problem.
I like the recursive function to stop whenever the norm_sd column has zero values that are above or equal to 1. Below is the calclp function after the changes you suggested.

help with recursive function
Eric: I will try and see if I can figure out the issue by debugging as you suggested. I don?t know why my code after stopifnot is not getting executed where I like the code to run the funlp2 function when the if statement is TRUE but when it is false, I like it to keep running until the stopifnot condition is met.
When the stopifnot condition is met, I like to get the output from if statement
