Bug#612237: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64: Fails to boot after upgrade from lenny
Package: xen-hypervisor-4.0-amd64
Version: 4.0.1-2
Severity: important
I upgraded today from Lenny to Squeeze. I upgraded via apt-get
dist-upgrade and
then installed the new xen-packages (including hypervisor and kernel).
But I wasn't able to boot the system after the upgrade anymore with Xen
enabled:
On every boot-attempt, I just get "elf_init: not an ELF binary". I

cygwin R-2.14.0 build fail
I tried to build R-2.14.0 on cygwin using the commands:
./configure --with-x=no

I started to get a whole lot of errors starting with:

which I have pasted at

Providing R binaries compiled against a multithreaded BLAS like Intel MKL by default?
Dear all,
Given that the Intel MKL multithreaded BLAS is now free (https://software.intel.com/en-us/mkl/choose-download, released under the very permissive Intel Simplified Software License,
https://software.intel.com/en-us/license/intel-simplified-software-license) and that this BLAS comes out as the fastest in most benchmarks, and that Microsoft R Open compiled against Intel MKL seems to be

Trouble passing PCI device in isolated IOMMU group
I'm attempting PCI-passthrough from host to guest on an HP ProLiant 380P,
which has an outdated BIOS (2014), but it does support VT-d. I'm running
CentOS 7, kernel 3.10.0-862.9.1.el7.x86_64.
I have an Intel 82580 NIC installed with 4 ports. Each of these ports is in
its own IOMMU group (I enabled SR-IOV at the BIOS, which might be the
reason they show up separately)
After detaching and

Cannot start Amnesia nor Penumbra via Steam
Greetings!
First of all, I would like to say thank you to everyone who are spending their time into making Wine what it is, and better!
I would offer my help if I had the ability to actually do something, but I have yet much to learn, but in the future, perchance...
Anyways! A few days ago, I thought I would play some Penumbra: Overture. I have played it before, so I was a bit surprised as it

Syslinux/isolinux: is this possible?
Hello Peter
I know very little (currently) about the BIOS interfaces/APIs available at
boot time except that most of them are buggy to some extent. However, I
have had an idea regarding another way to boot Linux and wanted to run it
past you.
As you'd be aware, many of the distributions now require multiple floppies
to hold their initial root fs to be used during installation. I was

Bug#737905: Xen: hvmloader causes immediate VCPU triple fault with SeaBIOS 1.7.4
I've uploaded seabios 1.7.4-2 to debian archive which now
ships 2 versions of the bios binary -- small 128Kb one and
bios-256k.bin (with size = 256Kb, obviously).
For now, both are built with Xen support.
So for now, it is enough to just rebuild xen with seabios
>= 1.7.4-2~ to get this fixed without patching.
However, please apply the mentioned patch (or update to
xen-4.3.1 version)

Bug#737905: closed by Bastian Blank <waldi@debian.org> (Bug#737905: fixed in xen 4.4.0-1)
I don't believe this bug is fixed.
The following line appears to carry forward the same problem to xen-4.4:
--with-system-seabios=/usr/share/seabios/bios.bin
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-xen/xen.git/tree/debian/rules.real?id=1f422caa31ef3a537a1e41ce68789b6d5536b954#n79
bios.bin does not contain xen support any more (see previous replies on this bug report); bios-256k.bin must be used

Isolinux - Memdisk problems - divide by zero after booting
I'm trying to switch from a standard floppy emulation
rescue disk (PQ-Magic & Ghost) to a no emulation
large floppy using isolinux & memdisk. I finally
got the CD booting on two systems (see below)
but on a third system I get a divide by zero message
and/or other error from DOS, which is starting
to boot correctly. It appears to happen during
loading the drivers in config.sys. It is an

isolinux - memdisk problems
I had posted the problem described below about two weeks ago,
and I would like to add some odd behaviour even on machines where
the zip image is loaded correctly (without divide by zero).
If I call DOS fdisk, when booted from the image, fdisks asks
if it should enable the large disk support and the returns
immediately to the command prompt.

Strategy for fts and Replication
Hi Francis,
next to fts-solr there was fts-lucene. But that Lucene there seems heavily outdated why the Dovecot docs also suggest using Solr. Elasticsearch probably is similar to Solr but the later is maintained by Dovecot team.
I started with downloading the Solr binary distribution to Debian with JRE preinstalled and things were running like after 10 min. Yes it?s a bit more complicated to

CentOS 5 dual boot with XP success
Hello. A happy, error-free report about my experiences last night. Only
one small inconvenience in the install.
I have an AMD Athlon64 3700+ in a MSI Neo2-F motherboard (Via K8T800 Pro
chipset), with a WD Raptor SATA drive and an older WD 80gig IDE drive.
The system has 1 gig of RAM and a CDROM (not DVD). The on-board network
is a Realtek 8169/8110 chip. My video is a 6800GT (AGP).

Memdisk and big floppy images
The narod.ru images are super outdated (FreeDOS kernel 2028) unfortunately.
If you are interested I could provide a 5MB FDD image template based on
FreeDOS 2041 kernel (the latest available at that time in 2014) where you
would just inject your ROM and EXE (and possibly adjust autoexec.bat to
autostart/apply the FW update). It's a minimal FreeDOS FDD image that
defaults to a clean boot with

debian xen packages : work with 2.6.16, reboots when loading dom0 with 2.6.17
I was giving a try to Debian Xen packages (it looks very promising by
the way ; I just happen to love the ? new ? grub which handles xen
images, for instance!) ; I have a box which boots correctly with
xen-hypervisor-3.0-i386_3.0.2+hg9697-2 and a 2.6.16 dom0 kernel, but
crashes when trying to boot linux-image-2.6.17-2-xen-686_2.6.17-7
The result is the same on two boxen (my Pentium M laptop and a

dmesg shows Intel Virt., lsmod shows kvm_intel; "Host does not [have] virt. options"
Hello,
I've tried over at IRC and it appears the solution to this problem may not
be obvious.
I'm working with a Centos7 box on HP ProLiant 380p hardware. The BIOS is a
bit outdated, but both Intel Virtualization Options and VT-d are present
and enabled in the firmware.
Some relevant command outputs below:
-bash-4.2$ dmesg | grep Virtualization

Popups not appearing for leaflet using mxn 2.0.18
Good day,
I''m trying out the new Leaflet provider using the 2.0.18 release.
Unfortunately, I haven''t been able to get a marker bubble (popup) to
appear after clicking on the marker. I think my use of Mapstraction is
correct as I see a popup appear for the googlev3, ovi, and openlayers
providers when I switch with no other changes to my code.
Is there a step I''m

Here, SOLR itself searches a quarter million mails in split seconds and
returns very good results. That is on a low memory
