sftp chroot requirements
Hi Damien, Thank you. I read the rationale. Just to summarize, a user writeable chroot target is considered dangerous if: 1) the user has another way of gaining non-chrooted access to the system 2) is able to create hardlinks to setuid-binaries outside of the chroot tree 3) there are bugs somewhere that allow privilige escalation or remote execution of other programs While all these

I did not find any clues when 'googling' and could not find any search options on the archives. So, your answer does really not help. If you can help me with some reference, then it is highly appreciated. I would like to understand the rationaly. Not why 'it is just like it is'. No, why. What is the reasoning behind it. I speak Dutch, English, some Japanese and C. So, I can

[PATCH, v2]: xl: move domain struct init functions to libxl
Changes since v1: - Include nic,net2,vkb,vfb init functions --- This allows libxl users to get some sane default values for this complex set of structures. This is purely code movement and there are no functional changes except for a trivial error handling change in nic device init. Hi Thomas, I don't know if you like top or bottom quoting. That seems to be a big-little endian thing ;-) So, I will top quote and inline quote. Please see my comments inline, below. Bug#588888: boot="d" does not boot from CD
I have followed this bug report only to wind up in a similar predicament. The Error: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'rfind' was fixed by installing xen-qemu-dm-4.0. However the same configuration issue (trying to boot the guest from a CD) with the 'boot' option exists for me too. Your configuration looks good unless I've missed something. Shall we file a new

WIndows PV driver problem (from XCP 0.5) with XEN 3.4.3 and 4.0.1-rc6(-pre)
Hello I have a Supermicro system with Intel XEON cpu with VT enabled. HVM, without Windows PV driver, works great. I am trying to use Windows PV driver from XCP 0.5, it is in the .iso file of XCP 0.5 Filename: windows-pvdrivers-xensetup.exe I have tried - XEN 3.4.3 (Linux 2.6.18.8) - XEN 4.0.1-rc6-pre (Linux 2.6.31.x and Linux 2.6.32.x from Jeremys GIT) and - XEN 4.0.1-rc6 (Linux 2.6.31.x and

thin grid lines, again (FAQ 7.36), a proposal
Hi, I'm raising the issue, again, of those pesky thin lines that show up with a pdf graphics device, otherwise known as FAQ 7.36. I have read the FAQ and understand that I can eliminate them by adjusting the anti-aliasing option for viewing them on the screen, but this doesn't necessarily eliminate them for a print device or for transferring them into a powerpoint or similar type of

sftp chroot requirements
Hello, Is there any security reason why the last component of a chroot path is required to be owned by root and not by the user that is chroot-ed into that path? I have tried to think of a reason, but cannot find any except for when several accounts are chrooted into the same directory. But if that is not the case, then, is there any security consideration? If not, then it seems to me that
