network usage gathering
I''ve run into a problem gathering usage for my xen virtual systems. With my old model I used to gather all network usage via my cisco devices using the the counters for each port. Each system had it''s own port on the switch, and I tracked network usage accordingly. Now that I''m using xen for virtual systems, and multiple vm''s share the same switch port,

NSS ldap problems
One difference I ran into with samba authentication is in cent 5 /etc/pam.d/system-auth-ac is the file to change but in cent 6 its /etc/pam.d/password-auth-ac. I found that changes I made only to system-auth-ac in 5 had to be made to both system-auth-ac and password-auth-ac in 6. This was to have authentication work for things like ssh and sudo in centos 6. network problems
So, I have been running into network problems for a while on 4 boxes that I installed xen on so that some engineers have places to test code. This particular problem is happening on all 4 of these boxes. (although, it isn''t happening on an older box running xen from debian etch). What appears to be the problem is that traffic is getting dropped between the vif#.0 interface in dom0

ess in Windows (newbie Q)
I'm a rank beginner with R, and I'm stumped at how to get it to work with Xemacs under Windows XP. I'm afraid there are some VERY basic questions I have here. Yes, I did read http://ess.r-project.org/Manual/readme.html. Both R and Xemacs are installed and working. The current ess files are installed in a subdirectory of my Xemacs directory. I added the R bin directory to my

RWinEdt install problem
I cannot get the "R" button to appear in RWinEdt. I'm running R 2.0.1 under Windows XP. I did a clean install of the latest WinEdt. Previously (for an earlier installation of WinEdt) I had RWinEdt running OK. Now, even though I have the distributed RWinEdt_1.6-2.zip extracted to the right place in the R directory, and when I execute library(RWinEdt) in the R Console,

Best way to use iSCSI in domU
Hello, We need to use iSCSI in some of our domUs. By the moment, iSCSI is not for system filesystem, but for data filesystem. I am wondering what is the best way to use it. Is it better to configure it in dom0 and then attach the device to the domU? Or is it better to configure it directly in the domU? I am thinking that if we configure it in the dom0, then we can''t share that iscsi

Unknown keyword in syslinux.cfg
Using versions 3.53 and 3.54, I get that message with the following configuration file (which is under 8192 bytes) on a USB stick; it's the configuration file from PCLinuxOS 2007. It was originally named isolinux.cfg; I changed isolinux.* to syslinux* for booting from USB. There is no blank line at the end of the file. It works well with 3.11, but that version doesn't allow me to put all

Add independent interface from domU to internal bridge?
Hi, I have what I believe is an elementary problem, but I haven''t yet figured out the solution. Within my domU host, I have a bridge named "net1". There is no routing performed between the real LAN and this bridge, intentionally. I have a virtual machine that connects to the bridge. It seems to work fine, (in fact I have several and I can bring them all up and they can

I just installed R-2.3.1pat under Windows XP as well as the associated RWinEdt. If I start RGui from its shortcut (but do _not_ also start RWinEdt) and then try to execute demo() or help(), I get a RWinEdt pop-up error window with message: File "D:\WP\WinEdtData\WinEdt\D:/WP/WinEdtData/WinEdt/R.ini" does not exist! how to enable VT
Hi, I have a Dell opt 755 machine and installed Xen 3.3.1. The CPU is core 2 due E6550, which as the vmx flag. However, when I reboot the machine to xen 3.3.1. I can not find vmx in the /proc/cpuinfo. But vms appears in the kernel 2.6.29 (not xen kernel). Can anyone help on how to enable vt in this machine? Thanks. Xen : Time issues
Hi everyone, I''m working in a firm that monitor wan networks. We have several nagios installed on virtual machines. Recently we noticed that the DomU''s clocks are not synced with the Dom0 and the clocks are wrong. So we tried to sync DomU''s via openntpd but it generates errors in nagios. Logs indicate "Time goes back". So we want to sync DomU with Dom0 and
