Serial console hangs with Linux 2.6.20 HVM guest
I am seeing a problem with the Xen emulated serial console. When
running a Linux 2.6.20 HVM guest that has CONFIG_HOTPLUG_CPU=n, the
guest blocks on output to the console until it receives input keypresses
from `xm console`. This prevents the guest from booting up without
banging on some keys, and makes interactive use of the console
difficult.
By bisecting Linux kernel commits, I found that

Bug#502123: [PATCH] Re: xen-hypervisor-unstable-amd64: Post update from 3.2 -> 3.3, initrd which previously worked fails
tag 502123 patch
severity 502123 serious
thanks
Confirmed. This regression was introduced by a copy-and-paste error in
debian/patches/tools-python-xen-xm-relative-path.diff
(svn://svn.debian.org/pkg-xen -r531). Please apply this fix.

Bug#536175: Bug#536175: Bug#536176: xen-utils-3.4: trying xen-3.4 once breaks xen-3.2 (?)
Here is a patch to the Debian xen-3 3.4.0-1 package that reenables ioemu.
I have been using it for the last four weeks. (I understand there are
reasons this cannot go into Debian yet, but hopefully it will be useful to
people that depend on running HVMs today.)

Bug#536174: xen-utils-3.4: pygrub searches for filesystem plugins at the wrong path
Package: xen-utils-3.4
Version: 3.4.0-1
Severity: important
pygrub uses the fsimage library to read contents of the filesystems to boot.
This package install the plugins for different filesystems at
/usr/lib/xen-3.4/lib/fs/,
but searches for them under /usr//usr/lib/fs.
(The debian patch tools-libfsimage-prefix.diff explicitly tinkers with
this path,
but it fails.)
This breaks pygrub.

ocfs2 cluster becomes unresponsive
We are running OCFS2 on SLES9 machines using a FC SAN. Without warning both nodes will become unresponsive. Can not access either machine via ssh or terminal (hangs after typing in username). However the machine still responds to pings. This continues until one node is rebooted, at which time the second node resumes normal operations.
I am not entirely sure that this is an OCFS2 problem at all

[LLVMdev] Function pointers
OK, I solved it all ( so far :) ), mixing in some load-instructions and called on the result of that, which worked.
Here is the skeleton-code:
%kernel = type { int ()* }
int puts_kernel(){...}
; main()
%theKernel = malloc %kernel
%puts_kernelPTR = getelementptr %kernel* %theKernel, long 1, ubyte 0
store int ()* %puts_kernel, int ()** %puts_kernelPTR
%tmp.11 = load int ()** %puts_kernelPTR

degraded performance under domain login load
Hi guys,
Not sure how to diagnose this problem however i have recently
upgraded one of my schools sites from gentoo to freebsd which moved
us from samba 3.0.14 to 3.0.21b and the first thing I noticed was
when the students came to login if they all logged in at once the
performance of login was crippled to a near standstill!
As a test i swapped in the gentoo box and forced the upgrade to

Samba 2.2.7 as PDC causing BSOD on 2K domain logon
Hello,
Have wrestled this one for about a week, now, getting frustrated ;-)
Running samba as PDC for my domain (cf. smb.conf further down)
When logging in on my 2K Pro machine, I first get a "can't find roaming
profile, attempting local profile"-error, but logon using my user's smb
account accepts only the correct password and so the identification part
works well.

stress testing
Does anyone know how to stress test samba without getting a whole
room of people to login to all the computers at once ? perhaps some
kind person has coded up a nice app that can be run on the server ??
just curious..

[LLVMdev] Function pointers
Hello out there!
I am trying to build a table of 2 function poiters by using an array:
%kernel = alloca [ 2 x int ()* ]
I try to access the first pointer to be able to store location of my first function like this:
%function_pointer_1 = getelementptr [2 x int ()* ]* %kernel, long 0, long 0
store int ()* %function_1, int ()* %function_pointer_1
But, I get the error message from llvm-asm:

[LLVMdev] Question regarding the alias analysis chaining behaviour
Hi,
I am using LLVM 2.4 on a Linux RHEL5 machine. I was trying to figure out
how the chaining of the alias analysis passes works in LLVM. Here are the
command I used to test the chaining part.
1. ./opt hello_world_1_nest_func.bc -o hello_world_1_nest_func_AA.bc
-no-aa -anders-aa -licm
Result: Anderson's AA and No Alias Analysis both are called.
2. ./opt hello_world_1_nest_func.bc -o

Request: please test modification to EWS calendar functionality
I have expanded the EWS calendar functionality within Asterisk 1.8 so it
is now possible to access any calendar within an Exchange 2007 or 2010
server.
I have put the changes onto the reviewboard for astrisk but currently no
one responded.
So if you use the EWS calendar functionality within Asterisk and would
like to have access to any calendar in Exchange please try the patch in

aov problem
I am using R to make two-way ANOVA on a number of variables using
g <- aov(var ~ fact1*fact2)
where var is a matrix containing the variables.
However the outcome seem to be dependent on the order of fact1 and fact2
(i.e. fact2*fact1) gives a slightly (factor of 1.5) different result.
Any ideas why this is?
Thanks for any help

NA erase your data trick
Oops,
I just erased all my data using this gizmo that I thought would replace -9
with NA.
A) Can I get my tcn5 back?
B) How do I do it right next time, I learned my lesson, I'll never do it
again, I promise!
