Debian revisions and policy comments [signed]
I've just been trying to catch up with the posts already so figured
I'd just start another thread as it seemed I would address things from
multiple emails. I really need to get my sieve filter script updated to
move the list emails into the proper folder now I guess :)
We can play with the revision of the packaging during testing. One
idea would be to use 3.0.1-0.YYYYMMDD for

Xen source [signed]
I just also wanted to mention that I have the current released
source tarballs downloaded and placed at
http://people.debian.org/~jbouse/xen/ at this time. As the only way to
get the source tarballs I've found is via bittorrent unless you want to
give your email address I'll continue to keep the the current tarball
located there.
That is one thing that I noticed about Ralph's

wget parameters
Hi,
Following an example I've received from Phil Spector, I am trying to get
a remote file by using download file.
The concerned remote server doesn't username and password passed with
the URL, thus this line fails...
download.file('http://username:password@xepecnet.environmentalchange.net/xwiki/bin/view/ICT/RGraphicSample02','RG02',method='wget')
I can get a

wget not in minimal install
Hi All,
I used to always do a minimal install with v4.4, and wget
(and other tools) was included.
With v5 if i untick *everything* in the installation (incl
"base") so that i can install from 1 cd, wget is not included.
I couldn't make sense of any of the xml or xml.gz files on
the installation cd. (/dev/cdrom/repodata/*), although they
do mention wget as 'default'

wget issue on XCP platform
I''m trying to work through the Virtual Machine Examples that are described
on the wiki - http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/Command_Line_Interface
>From my XCP platform, I''m simply trying to do a wget as follows:
wget http://www.xen.org/files/XenCloud/Software/lenny.xva
The connection on the XCP host closes after 1209 bytes and retries a number
of times to no avail.

Again: wget parameters
Hi Ricardo and everybody
In this old post to rhelp you say that the problem was solved but not what
the sollution was. I have the same problem now. I want to read a Excel file
from a google site that has restricted access so I need to give a username
and password at some point. I could not find an example or a help file that
shows how this can be done. You post is one of few but it does not

KVM SSL with wget
Hi,
I installed KVM on a CentOS 7.4 host. The guest is also installed in CentOS 7.4, the network works perfectly.
Both Host and Guest machines have the same OS.
I do not understand why I have an SSL error on the guest and not on the host while the two computers have the same OS installation.
The firewalld, selinux, fail2ban services are not installed on host and guest.
Is there an extra

Yum/WGET/HTTP sourceforge etc.
I am having a problem with 5.4 that I did not have with 4.5. The problem happens only sometimes but in specific
instances. Basically a summary of the problem is that certain network transactions timeout. The specfic instances
are with wget, rpm, http. The problem usually, but not always, occurs with pptp stuff. (NOT running pptp but getting pptp stuff).
For instance, the following command, which

About wget
I've been downloading a software for a friend with wget, but as my
connexion to internet is not so good, wget downloaded in three parts by
example:
SetupDxLabelMakerSoftonic.exe
SetupDxLabelMakerSoftonic.exe.1
SetupDxLabelMakerSoftonic.exe.1.1
My question is: Is there any way to join all of this or Do I have to
download that again?
Hope an answer
thanks to all

Segfault after compiling wget with dfsan
Hi all,
I was trying to compile dfsan with wget. (Just enabling the dfsan feature,
without actually making changes to the source code) Without dfsan, I am
able to compile and run wget 1.19.5 (available at
https://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/wget/wget-1.19.5.tar.gz). But when compiled with
dfsan, it encountered a null pointer dereference error.

Building release source DEBs [signed]
I've been working on a buildrelease.sh script to call hg2dist.sh,
export debian/ from svn and run dpkg-source for me. When I ran
dpkg-source I noticed that it gave warnings regarding the *.dpatch files
being chmod 0755 is there any reason to maintain this within the
repository or would 0644 suffice and remove these warnings from dpkg-source?

Issues with Ubuntu 22.04 and Installing the Latest Version of R (R 4.4.1) to Docker Image
Lauren, little oversight from my Dockerfile, if you want to follow the CRAN steps and get the R from the cloud.r-project.org server, you want to replace
&& add-apt-repository -y "ppa:marutter/rrutter4.0"
With
&& add-apt-repository "deb https://cloud.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu $(lsb_release -cs)-cran40/"
The ppa repo is Michael Rutter personal repo

wget: unable to resolve host address “xxxxx”
Hi all,
I find that in my CentOS, which is installed in vmware, I can use yum to
install software from Internet, and I can also ping websites, but I
cannot download stuff using wget.
I receive error msg unable to resolve host address ?xxxxx?. The IP
address is 192.168.80.128, and this is the content of /etc/resolv.conf

wget
Dear all,
It seems that wget version has had the -C (cache) option removed when it
went from 1.9 to version 1.10, this happened somewhere between Centos
3.5 and 4.2.
Does anyone know why the -C option was removed and how I can get it
back? Other than regressing wget.....
Regards
Pete
